Strange behavior
O.K. I know you guys do not like "Repair Permissions" but since I have attempted to repair them many times and with DiskWarrior and they report "fixed" but when run again the same ones are wrong. Most should be like rw but are lrw. Now I have 3 hard drives and have startup systems on all 3 the only one that will start are the one with OS10.5.7 One is OS 10.5.6 and one is an install partition. These have worked until recently. Must I to a nuke and pave? strange behavior
I have a dual 500 Mhz "Snakebite" that is running 10.4.11. I am noticing some unusual behavior recently with my ZIP drive: When I try to eject the ZIP disk, I am told that the ZIP can't be ejected because it is in useeven though it is not. In order to eject the disk, I have to give the command twice. Anyone seen this behavior before? Is there a remedy? They're reported as wrong, but they're not. Or there are multiple receipts for those items, with conflicting permissions. Or ... the list goes on. Stop it. You're NOT fixing anything by repairing permissions umpteen times. This is the equivalent of repeatedly waxing your car because it has a flat tire. >Now I have 3 hard drives and have startup systems on all 3 the only >one that will start are the one with >OS10.5.7 One is OS 10.5.6 and one is an install partition. Re: strange behavior
The first try unmounts the ZIP disk the second try ejects it? What it means when it says it is in use is that it is mounted. Strange Behavior w/G5 and iMovie
Hello All, Been years since I posted here ... no problems with my G5 2.5 dualie with 4 GB RAM running OS 10.5.8 and iMovie 7.1.4 until NOW. I uploaded a short movie consisting of 5 scenes. Every time I try and import it to iMovie it "unexpectedly quits". I have tried importing it 3 times and each time it quits. I have NO IDEA as to what is wrong. Is there some incompatibility issue with 10.5.8 and 7.1.4 that I am unaware of? Surely I have enough power and ram to handle this program?? Thank you, Dan -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. My very first guess is to look at the movie itself. Have you deleted iMovie's prefs file? Start the computer in safe mode (holding down the shift key while booting) this clears a bucnha carches that might be causing the issue. Create a new user account on the computer, log in as that user and try inporting it...this will tell you if the problem is iMovie or the system (or the movie, again) or something in your user account. What does the Crash report log say? What does the System Log say?
