>Summary: Solaris (SunOS 5.10) connect + errno not set

Initial Comment:
If I run a application which is using the gaim libraries from 2.0.0beta5
release, the connection is failed with yahoo, msn servers.

I think, In Proxy.c file, proxy_connect_none function "connect" call is
failing. But it does not set the errno. So it gets disconnected immediately.

If we comment the line
fcntl(connect_data->fd, F_SETFL, O_NONBLOCK);, it seems its working fine. Its
connected immediately with yahoo, msn servers.

Is it means that setting NON_BLOCK is giving some problem?

I found the solution.
If you are working on Multithreaded code, then you have to compile the
gaim with -D_REENTRANT cppflag.
Then the errno will be set, if any system call failed.

I believe there were some bug fixes that affect solaris users in
particular in the beta6 release, does upgrading fix this?

This bug was filed against an old version of gaim. If you are
not using the lastest version, please upgrade. If you are using
the latest version, and the bug persists, please indicate so and
reopen this bug.

Summary: No Sound After Upgrade to Beta6

Initial Comment:
Hello,

i have beta5 running well on my Slackware system and when beta6 has come out, i
upgrade to beta6, but then there's no sound at all.

Originally i have gstreamer 0.8.7 on my Slackware, but then i removed it and
upgraded to 0.10.11, the version needed by gaim-2.0.0beta6 and recompiled gaim,
but still it won't produce any sound.

Any solutions?

Thanks

Summary: qq protocol login fails

Initial Comment:
The QQ protocol fails to log in. It worked a few times in 2.0.0 beta 5 then
started failing. Now all attempts fail with the following message in the debug
log:

您的号码暂时不能使用低版本的QQ,请到:http://im.qq.com/下载安装最新版的QQ,感谢您对QQ的支持和使用

Using the 2005 English version of the official QQ client also results in this
message. Only using the 2006 Chinese version of the official QQ client solves
the problem.

The message roughly translates (by computer) to:

Your number temporarily cannot use the low edition QQ, welcome to:
http://im.qq.com/ downloading installment most new edition QQ, thank you to QQ

If you want to help, you can compile Wireshark with this dissector (you
might just rename it packet-oicq.c and copy it over that file, so you don't
need to deal with Makefiles and the like). Enter the double MD5 hex of
your password in the QQ preference, and you'll be able to decrypt some of
the packets. Look at the outgoing login packet. There are 3 unknown areas
(I think 3 16-byte hashes, 2 of which are preceded by some 4-byte
somethings). If you can experiment with different IP addresses and
computers to deduce fixing which of those causes the unknown areas to be
fixed, you would greatly help me. I believe the unknowns are somehow
generated from one or the other.

Summary: Jabber email address login fails (bug 1595188?)

Initial Comment:
I am using GAIM but cannot connect to an encrypted Jabber server. I am using
the GAIM encryption plugin.

The debug trace below shows that the username passed is not my username which
is an email address ([EMAIL PROTECTED]). My server name and company name have
been changed for confidential reasons.

jabber: Sending (ssl):
jabber: Recv (ssl)(146):
jabber: Sending (ssl): mylogin

Thanks, my friend! That solved it. I don't know why I did not see it
before. Our other jabber client (name unmentioned) requires
[EMAIL PROTECTED], but your suggestion solved the problem. BTW, I did
not have to use the encryption plugin.

Thanks.

Try ->
Screen name: mylogin
Server: mycompany.com
Connect server: myserve

I believe that if your company really wants this to work correctly they
should set up an SRV record on mycompany.com that points to myserve.
(Unless of course your company really intends your jabber username to be
[EMAIL PROTECTED] which may or may not be legal, I'm not sure.)

My gaim (2.0.0beta6, win32) crashes when going from away to available. If I
have something in away and then I switch to available (without inputting any
message) it will crash. It will not crash if, before I finalize (push enter or
let it sit for a few seconds) the available status, I insert a space.

Summary: Instant Message shows online when buddy is offline

Initial Comment:
If you send an instant message to someone not in your buddy list with CTRL-M or
"Buddies >> New Instant Message..." then the conversation window will show
that the buddy is online. In actuality, if you add this person to your buddy
list, you will see that they are offline.

I saw this behavior on multiple protocols.

Summary: qq protocol login fails

Initial Comment:
The QQ protocol fails to log in. It worked a few times in 2.0.0 beta 5 then
started failing. Now all attempts fail with the following message in the debug
log:

您的号码暂时不能使用低版本的QQ,请到:http://im.qq.com/下载安装最新版的QQ,感谢您对QQ的支持和使用

Using the 2005 English version of the official QQ client also results in this
message. Only using the 2006 Chinese version of the official QQ client solves
the problem.

The message roughly translates (by computer) to:

Your number temporarily cannot use the low edition QQ, welcome to:

the support and the use.

Damn. I was hoping to have more time before this started happening. I need
to find some free time and reverse engineer the new login scheme. The bad
news is, I can't do much to help you until then. The good news is, some
(probably most?) accounts still work. Thanks for letting me know.

Initial Comment:
*NOTE: This bug was not present in gaim 2.0 beta 5*
After a clean install of gaim 2.0 beta 6 (fresh install of windows so no
older-beta preferences/components could interfere), setting the tabs to show on
the bottom misrenders under Windows Vista (I am not sure if this affects
Windows XP or other builds of windows).

Buddy icons do not need to be shown, but will show the graphics corruption
immediately.

If no buddy icons is set, resizing from the bottom, left, or right of the
window will corrupt the tabs.

Window appears to have corrupt tab on open anyway.

When there is multiple tabs, the only part of the tab that will corrupt is the
X button when the mouse hovers over it.

Note: this does not seem to affect tab placements of top, left, or right.

Summary: Quotes and gt/lt printed as HTML entities in Meanwhile conv

Initial Comment:
I am running gaim 2.0.0 beta 4 and I use it daily in a conference with my
co-workers. We start a conference every morning and use it as a way to keep in
touch (we are in different parts of the country). I'm not sure which version it
started with, but any time you type a quotation mark or a greater than or a
less than symbol, what gets printed in the conference is " < or >
This does not happen when you have an individual meanwhile chat with someone.
If you need more information, please let me know.

I just tested the patch on windows as well and it works great! I tested
<, >, &, ", and shift-enter. No HTML, no html entities.

I'd thrown in some stripping code (incorrectly), but the problem is really
that the GaimConvesation is sending HTML formatting to the conversation at
all; it should only allow and send on plain-text. I think I may have fixed
this by adjusting the conversation flags immediately after creation, and
I'm testing it out.

I got the libsametime.dll compiled in windows, but surprisingly, I can't
find anyone at work to test a conference with me at midnight. I'll try it
in the morning and report back to the ticket. Thanks for the patch.

My server name and company name have
been changed for confidential reasons.

jabber: Sending (ssl):
jabber: Sending (ssl):
jabber: Recv (ssl)(146):
jabber: Sending (ssl): mylogin
jabber: Recv (ssl)(57):

Try ->

In the configuration options for the autoreply plugin did you have
'autoreply when away' set? Because if you did, then that would explain it.
The plugin just checks to see if your state matches either of the options
and then sends the message.

It is supposed to provide an auto reply for protocols that do not have a
way to auto reply built into the protocol.

Etan, can you look at this?

I figured out that it was the autoreply plugin that was causing this
problem. I disabled it.

What is the autoreply plugin supposed to do?

Summary: selection clipboard erased on status change

Initial Comment:
If I write some interesting status message, e.g. a quote, and I want to keep
that message while changing the status , I select the defined message, pick
another status and then I middle click the status message text box.

But when I do that, it remains empty. The selection clipboard is cleared when
the text which was selected disappears. The only way to prevent this is to use
the ^C and ^V keyboard shortcuts, which clipboard is not deleted when the
textbox is cleared.

This is only happening when the selection clipboard contents are the textbox
contents, selections from other sources are working fine.

It is indeed intended that the core sends html to prpls now, see:
http://svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/gaim?view=rev&revision=14518

sorry I obviously didn't get the sametime adjustments correct (as I
suspected in my commit message).

Also discovered today thath the underscore symbol gets converted to
. I pasted the following URL into the conference today:

http://www.microsoft-watch.com/content/vista/tmobile_offers_vista_users_free_wifi_at_its_hotspots.html

It was converted to this when it was displayed:

http://www.microsoft-watch.com/content/vista/tmobileoffersvistausersfreewifiatitshotspots.html

However, the following text that I input:

<>&"_

Displays this:

<>&"_

So it looks like the underscore only gets converted sometimes. Maybe when
it's part of a word. If I type _hello_ into the window, it gets displayed
as:

hello

Hope this helps.

Summary: dns child process becomes zombie (defunct process)

Initial Comment:
I am using gaim libraries to build one c++ application (in Linux
2.6.15-1.2054_FC5smp). In this, the child process is getting created for
resolving dns queries. After resolving the query, actually it has to exit by
itself after some time(40 seconds) or it will be killed by the parent process.
But this is not happening here.

I tried to debug the same, what I understood is, "select" is blocking for the
read events on the pipe, and it is not getting timed out after the timeout (40
seconds). It continuously blocking.

But, actually the parent process sending the SIGKILL signal to this process.
But it is not received by this child, probably it becomes "zombie" before
receiving the signal itself.

I found the solution.

Actually the child process is not exists until select's time-out period.
Since it got killed by its parent immediately after reading the message
from pipe, well before 40 seconds itself.
Child automatically sent a SIGCHLD signal to its parent. Parent is not
"waiting" for its child to handle its termination.
So, the system resources associated with the child are not getting
released.
Hence the child process appears to be existing (defunct/zombie) but it is
not actually exists.

So the solution for this is to handle the SIGCHLD signal in the parent and
the signal handler should do "wait" for its child, in order to release the
associated system resources.

This problem still persist in 2.0

Reproduced easily when using jabber transports. Especially ICQ. Can't tell
if that's reproducible with JIT, but always with PyICQt.
Conditions: you require your auth to add you to contactlist.

Steps to reproduce:
- grant someone (from transport contacts), who requires auth, to add you
to his list;
- add user dialog appears (but user is already in your CL!), choose
group/nick/account, add
- you got two identical users in your contactlist

As feature request: did someone ever ask for userinfo button to be added
to authorization request/add dialog?

I believe this has been fixed since 1.3.0, or maybe sooner.
Can someone verify? I've never had much luck reproducing
this bug.

I've noticed the same, sometimes more than one "duplicate"
appears.

It makes Gaim/Jabber usage very painful...

I've noticed that after using Gaim I sometimes get a single
group set multiple times in the Jabber roster entry for that
user.

(So it says they're in "GroupA, GroupA, GroupA").

Summary: qq protocol login fails

Initial Comment:
The QQ protocol fails to log in. It worked a few times in 2.0.0 beta 5 then
started failing. Now all attempts fail with the following message in the debug
log:

您的号码暂时不能使用低版本的QQ,请到:http://im.qq.com/下载安装最新版的QQ,感谢您对QQ的支持和使用

Using the 2005 English version of the official QQ client also results in this
message. Only using the 2006 Chinese version of the official QQ client solves
the problem.

The message roughly translates (by computer) to:

Your number temporarily cannot use the low edition QQ, welcome to:
http://im.qq.com/ downloading installment most new edition QQ, thank you to QQ
the support and the use.

Here is a snippet from the debug log:

I suspect the disabled accounts are stored on a certain set of servers
which have already been transitioned to accepting only the new login
scheme, whereas the rest are on servers that have yet to be upgraded.
Unfortunately, I need a couple of Windows machines and a free day or two to
figure the scheme out and I won't have access to those things for a few
weeks at the very least.

Damn. I was hoping to have more time before this started happening. I need
to find some free time and reverse engineer the new login scheme. The bad
news is, I can't do much to help you until then. The good news is, some
(probably most?) accounts still work. Thanks for letting me know.
