Summary: Away messages are not shown (SIM, Trilian and perhaps other)

The problem is, that i can't see the away- N/A- etc.
messages of people using the SIM or Trillian Client. I
have this problem in every version since something 0.x.

I'm using gaim beta 6 and I still cannot see any trillian away message.

This bug is really terrible and for many people (I know) the main reason
to use not gaim for IM.

Is there anyone working at this problem or do I just have to look for
another IM?

the-fallen: Could be so, but i opened this bug report before
more than one year now. And what you have written: For
people with the original ICQ client, i can read their away
messages.

I really don't know why this problem seems to be unsolvable.
Or perhaps the Gaim-developer simply have too less time for
this :(

Maybe this bug should be marked as a duplicate of bug
#1469313 or vise versum...?

I am also suffering from this bug and I do think of using
another client than Gaim... Unfortunately there is no real
alternative :-(

too sad, nobody is willing to do this. I think, for many
people it is a reason to not use gaim (beside to the status
setting problems)

the same is with the miranda client. it can't view the
message of gaim and gaim doesn't display away messages of
miranda.

Summary: excessive memory usage

Initial Comment:
I'm wondering if there are memory leaks resurfacing as
what happened back in v0.74 since I often look at
noticed that gaim (previously 0.82.1 and now 1.3.0) is
using 100mb or more of memory. As in 0.74, this seems
to be accelerated by turning on sort buddy list by log
size although 1.3.0 seems not to be able to actually
accomplish this task regardless.

I'm currently running 1.3.0 on solaris 8 and 9 compiled
locally with gcc 3.3.2. Not sure what other info I can
provide, let me know, Ill be glad to help.

I'm going to go ahead and close this ... I could never reproduce it, and
I'm wondering now if it might have been a plugin problem (I know OTR or
gaim-encryption, one, leaked huge amounts of memory at about that time).
In any case, that's a long time ago. ;-) Resubmit if you still have
problems.

Ethan

Summary: gaim: undefined symbol: gaim_br_prepend_prefix

Initial Comment:
My platform is Ubuntu Feisty x64, kernel 2.6.20-9, gtk+ 2.10.9.

I compiled gaim2 beta6 with the following:
./configure --prefix=$MYP --enable-debug
make
make install

Then I executed gaim:
/home/r64y/e1/path64/bin/gaim: symbol lookup error:
/home/r64y/e1/path64/bin/gaim: undefined symbol: gaim_br_prepend_prefix

elb suggested configure with --disable-binreloc. This solve the above problem.

If anyone is interested, I'll upload the output of configure and make for each
time (done after make distclean)
