Subject: [Audyssey] Allen Maynard's boxing game

 The url is www.fantasystorm.net

Because of the more complex keystrokes and actions is why I was asked to
 create a boxing trainer.

I welcome all comments but I just want to explain some things.

I modeled the Savage Gamut after the arcade game of Punch Out. In that
game, the two fighters just stand toe-to-toe and punch each other out.

I wanted to try and create a more realistic fighting game because I was
trying to get away from a game type where you hear the punch coming and it
stops and then you had to move. But I had to come up with a way so the
punch would not have to stop, so I thought to make a whooshing sound when
your apponent pulled his arm back to punch.

Someone mentioned that they thought the sounds were rubbish. Now, I don't
think they are rubbish but I know that they do sound a little cheesy. But
 I
needed a different sound between the whoosh of the arm going back and the
 punch being thrown.

I understand if you don't like the game. That's just the nature of games,
every game won't appeal to everyone.

Of those who did not like the game, please give me some ideas of how a
similar game could be better. This is not a retorical question and I am
 not
being sarcastic. I really would like to know.

2007-02-11 Thread Søren Jensen
Hi.

Wow. You can get a very, very good carrictor with this adventure pack if you
know how to use your experience points in the right way. If you don't have a
good carrictor yet, I really recommend you to create a new good carrictor
with a mr and sp of 30 from the beginning. Upgrade your weaponry skill with
4000 xp, get your weaponry slashing skill and use your last 4000 xp to
upgrate that skill. What do you say guys? What will you do, if you got that
adventure pack? Now, we can really help a newbee to get a very good
carrictor. What will you recommend?

Best regards Søren.

I received this e-mail from the GameMaster shortly after signing up for

short period of time or not. I didn't know about this myself before I
signed up, but maybe this will influence your decisions if you really
 like the game.
I hope this is okay with the GameMaster. It might bring about more
 subscribers. smile

Re: [Audyssey] alan maynard's boxing game

2007-02-11 Thread Neo
Hi,
not yet, either. HOwever, it's been a long time since I played the game for
the last time. I think I was stuck at level 6 or 7. One of the reasons might
also be the keyboard of my laptop - it was still relatively new and I
haven't had the keyboard mastered that well, so I often wanted to hit
control-j but hit shift-j or control-shift-j, fo rexample, and more mistakes
of this sort. I might try to do it again thougg.
Take care,

 hard.
my reflexes aren't very good for it, especially with remembering each
 sound.
it takes me a while to figure out, ok, he's about to do a jab on my left,
etc. i'm only on level 2 of the redemption.

It's pretty difficult to memorize all the punches and their proper
 defenses
and counter attacks at first, but it makes some sense once you get used
 to
it. If there only was a bit more complexity such as the ability to move,
duck or jump, and more fighting actions such as long combos to defend, it
would be very similar to the wonderful fighters like Mortal Kombat,
 Tekken,
 Virtual Fighter, etc.
I do quite like it but once you beat the redemption, it doesn't have very
 high replay value.
 Take care,

Yes it is. Personally I wasn't very impressed with the game. The voice
acting and SFX were rather corny and, contrary to Maynard's Main Menu
statement, the keystrokes are too many and hard to remember. I could
 never
remember what counter goes with what punch. So no, I'm not a fan of that
 game.

let me also explain things:
i absalutely love the savage gambit and am hooked (hooked, lol! get it?). i
beat the first, and like the second as well.
but it's my friend who thinks that the sounds are rubbish. i like the
sounds.
it hink that the sounds arn't the most important thing that makes a game.
it's the complexity.
or, it's that a new game is out.
even if it's simple, iget every, and i mean every game that's released, even
if it's yet another space invaders clone.
this one's complex. not as complex as judgment day, but i think it's second
best. now if you could only add trophies and unlockables... then yep. that'd
be cool.
by the way alon, are you developing games still?

Re: [Audyssey] tarn rats in sryth

2007-02-11 Thread Mongwen
No. If you run out of runes of life, you get marks of death instead. You
can't advance skills while you've got marks of death, if I remember rightly,
and they cost twice the experience a rune of life does. Buying a rune of
life is 16 experience. Removing a mark of death is 32. Always keep a rune
or three around.

 Hi Josh,
From your email it sounds like your weapon skills and melee rating may
be to low. The best way to complete that mission is to go back and
recreate your character with a higher melee and weapons skills, and
build your character up a bit for taking on that quest. With my Sryth
character I blazed through that barn the first time through without
dying and my guess is since I took it on with a reasonable amount of
weapons and melee I went through them like a knife through butter.
Honestly, if you can't make it through the tarn ratts you will have
serious problems later on in harder quests such as the shadow gate
adventure under the monistary, and even harder ones than that.

That's kind of why I was asking quite a few questions lately. I didn't
want to waist a good thing if you know what I mean. smile
I believe I have developed a pretty decent character.
Maybe you guys could set up another user account and pay another $10 to

Well, here's my current standings so far. Maybe you guys can give me some

I also have quite a bit of items to sell. However, I don't know if I'll

Yeah, I'd say that one deserves a redo. Like I said a few minutes ago,
shoot for 15 or better in all of your stats, or at least get an average of
15. You really don't want any stats below average if you can help it,
but...well, I'm rambling now. Just keep in mind, the higher the better on
these.

It handles certain things better. You can make other types of objects. A
number of bug fixes, etc. You would have to look at the web page
www.adrift.org.uk to find out everything. Also, it's important to know
that games written in 3.9 will not play from 4.0 and vice versa.

I wanted to try and create a more realistic fighting game because I was
trying to get away from a game type where you hear the punch coming and
 it
stops and then you had to move. But I had to come up with a way so the
punch would not have to stop, so I thought to make a whooshing sound when
your apponent pulled his arm back to punch.

Someone mentioned that they thought the sounds were rubbish. Now, I
 don't
think they are rubbish but I know that they do sound a little cheesy.
 But
 I
needed a different sound between the whoosh of the arm going back and
 the
 punch being thrown.

I understand if you don't like the game. That's just the nature of
 games,
every game won't appeal to everyone.

Of those who did not like the game, please give me some ideas of how a
similar game could be better. This is not a retorical question and I am
 not
being sarcastic. I really would like to know.

 Hi,
Agreed. The Blade of the Fox would really kick the tarn ratts in to next
week. I don't remember what exactly I was carrying the last time I took
them on in my last adventure, but I had no trouble clearing the barn of
tarn ratts. I cleaned their clock and then some.
It would be really funny if someone saved that mission until they
obtained the Hale blade and then took them on. I'd say one roll of
combat would be enough to squash all six like insects.

[Audyssey] jaws frames for adrift it works...but?

2007-02-11 Thread Josh
Hi,

Ok, I figured it out, there was a rule in the frame that made it read
everything twice so I fixed that in both of them. Now it's reading fine! The
only thing is, I created a frame to read the status line and any changes
that may occur on it, and I assigned it to control alt s, but this frame
even if I tell it to be active just won't activate. Why is this? The main
frame that reads the adrift runner text adventure window reads perfectly
fine now! The only problem is the status frame or the frame at the status
line, getting that to read. Any ideas?

Re: [Audyssey] adrift

2007-02-11 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hello Josh. I do not know how to help you with making the frames in Jaws
since I'm not a Jaws user. As to your other question. I am personally
using version 3.9 of Adrift. I find it meets my needs for my games. 4.0
is nice and would solve some of the challenges I've come across, but
it's not needed for the way my game is progressing. Also, you need not
make a player character. That is already defined. You can change the
player attributes from the advanced pull down menu.

Hope this helps.

[Audyssey] status line frame

2007-02-11 Thread Josh
Hi,

Well adrift is reading perfectly fine except for the status line. How can I
fix this little problem so jaws reads the way I want it to?
I can send you the adrift settings so you can see what I've done, they're
really small, my email is at the bottom of my messages.

I'd like to get all his games that aren't available any more--there is that
one and a jump game.

 Hello all.

I want to play the game the snowballwar created by PB-Games. but there
is no possibility to download it anywhere. Is there anyone who still
have this game and can give it to me or can tell me where I can get
 it?

 Regards,

 Sascha.
