Re: [Audyssey] stats of week 8

2007-10-04 Thread jason
Hi, Tom, yes I would love to have that rematch with you. So I can run my
defensive plays against you and just score those points. I wish this game
was an online game and it has a game rpg in it that would be great, then we
can have that rematch, but since it doesn't we just have to keep posting
stats unless Jim decides in the future after he is finished with his new
game or release of games, to put an online rpg in the game.
I will post stats of week 9.
The Eagles play the packers.
your friend,
Jason

sounds good.
I'd like to have an office scene though, with orders, your mission, etc.
I gather this is a 3d game.
My main trade is sfx.
Is this a free game or what.
I have sfx libraries, give me a place to upload and I will.
add [EMAIL PROTECTED] to msn and shaun_everiss to skype also if you
want testing and sfx.
I can probably do voice overs to for things.
send me a list of things, I recomend though that you use sapi for
menus, numbers, etc unless you want full voices in which case you
probably need a few people to do things.
Send me off list the requirements for sfx, etc and I'll try to help out.

[Audyssey] Mario death in Monti

2007-10-04 Thread Dark
Hi Tom.

I'm deffinately looking forward to the next version, - more levels, more
exploration, more fun!

but one thing that's distinctly getting upon my whick with the game at the
moment is the way that if you accidently jump ontop of an enemy, it's instant
death!

I don't think I've ever actually died on any difficulty below challenging by
the enemies killing me normally, but it's most frustrating to stick on a normal
game, make one mystake and end up instantly dead! I'd actually have been better
just to let the enemy hit me rather than trying to jump the thing!

I understand your doing this to mirror the original game, but perhaps this is
one instance where a modification would be a good thing?

appologies thom, it's just after losing 4 successive lives in this way I'm not
exactly happy with the feature, and deffinately think it should be removed in
the next beta if possible.

Beware the Grue! (who'll eat you which ever way up you are!).

Dark.

Re: [Audyssey] Semper phi!

2007-10-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,

Quote
it can be done starting from a base of no programming eexperience, but you
have to be willing to work hard and stick with it. It looks like you took
all of 2 minutes to write the back story here, and if you put that much
dedication into actually making the game, you will fail miserably.
End quote

True. Allot of times the diference between a so so game and a good game
is how much work goes into developing the game story, the characters,
the plot how the game will unfold, and so on. It is not much unlike
preparing to write a novel. I believe Hunter is still quite yung and I
don't think he has had the experience of say high school creative riting
or college writing courses.
However, the principle thing is easy. Basically, you begin with a basic
story line. You form it by writing up charts and outlines which
describes your characters, relationships to each other, why this or that
has to be done, describe the game levels, and so on. Basically, think it
all the way through and get it written down in some format you can go
back and review as you put the game together before you even write a
line of code.
The way we did it in college is we began by drafting a list of questions
like: What is the name of the main character, where does he live, who
does he work for, what does he do, etc... Then, you can use those same
sorts of questions for the enemies. What is there names, why are they
attacking station x, what kinds of weapons do they use, where are they
from, etc... When you get done asking questions you will probably have a
few pages of general notes now to begin drafting a rough draft of the
story line.
When you write up your game story it doesn't have to be a400 page
blockbuster. However, a 3 to 5 page story outline wouldn't hurt firm up
the game, and give it some sort of real story and character of it's own.
For example, the Tomb Raider manuals usually have a 5 page story in the
manual describing what Lara is going to do or why she is taking on
adventure x. You can tell when playing games like Angel of darkness
someone spent a lot of time working on the back story and murder mystery
before the game was written.
I'm actually going to have to sit down and do this for some of my games
once I finish Monty and Raceway as some of them, for example Star Wars,
I am not clear on many details of what the game will turn out like.
However, to make it turn out half way decently I will have to sit down
and draft the story in detail before really working on anything other
than the general combat system, etc.

[Audyssey] Semper phi!

2007-10-04 Thread Che
Hunter gave us this less than enthralling story line for his game:
The Storyline is: In the deap relms of space, an evil so powerful has just
awoken. The evil is powerful enough to destroy the hole galaxy
.. who is going to do this? As he walks to the main office, John the
Space Marine and the chief go up to the office. As John leaves, the game
begins!

end quote.
Based on the quality of the storyline given here, this looks like another
case of "Here is an idea fora game, and I will do it as long as it doesn't
take much effort."
Seriously dude, is this the best story line you could come up with to
spark interest in your game?
From the tone of your posts, I assume you are a young guy Hunter. I wish
you all the best in creating a game, because I know from personal experience
it can be done starting from a base of no programming eexperience, but you
have to be willing to work hard and stick with it. It looks like you took
all of 2 minutes to write the back story here, and if you put that much
dedication into actually making the game, you will fail miserably.
Give the story another shot, make it interesting with some details about
how the game will be played. Show us you are willing to put at least a
minimal amount of work into your project.
Ideas are a dime a dozen, the individual that is willling to put the time
and energy into a project to make it work is a rare commodity.
  Out.

Hi Hunter,
No. Dagoba is a swamp planet. It is anything but fiery. It is full of
trees, swamps, water, mud, slime, and fog. If you ask me from the film I
saw of Empire strikes back it looks like it was filmed in the Florida
everglades.

Re: [Audyssey] Star Wars trailer was Hi

2007-10-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Brandon,
That would all depend on which Star Wars era the game takes place. You
have the Knights of the Old Republic era where the Jedi are locked in
combat with the Sith thousands of years before Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Luke
Skywalker even existed.
Then, there is the preclone wars era where Obi-Wan is a learner, Yoda,
Mace Windu, etc all first appear in the Star Wars story line.
There is the clone wars era in which Mace Windu, KitFisto, Luminara, and
many of the preclone wars and clone wars era Jedi get whiped out.
Then you have the post Clone wars era in which we see former Jedi like
Olee Starstone, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and others on the run from the Empire
trying to go to ground. It is in this era where the dark Jedi tracked
Yoda to Dagoba , and was killed in the dark side cave in which Luke
would later train in Empire Strikes Back.
It is also this era that they have some books about Han Solo and Lando's
lives before they joined the Rebellion.
Then, you have the Rebellion era in which Star wars got started. Not
much need be said here other than it is the genesis of all that became
Star Wars.
Then, there is the post Empire era in which Leia, Mon Mothma, Aqbar, and
others try to form the New Republic, Mara Jade is included as a new
member of the Star Wars main characters, Jason and Jaina Solo are
addded, and Star Wars begins to move beyond the Empire though they still
have troubles with them.
Then, there is the legendary New Jedi Order series which Jaina, Jason,
etc are growing up, Mara and Luke get hitched, and there is a new enemy
in town.
Then to end the eras currently available you have the legacy era in
which Luke and Mara, Han and Leia, etc are all much older, Jason, Jaina,
Zek, and the rest are all grone up, and Correllia wants it's own
independence and one of Darth Vader's unknown aprentices Lumiya turns
Jason over to the dark side, and pits him against his friends and family.
In all allot of historical times and places to pit the game any one of a
dozen good possible Jedi to use.

To find the option for putting yourself on "vacation," go to:

By direct email, I believe you have to send a "request" email, and place the

Now if there is a way to do that in Windows Mail for example, I have no clue
how it works there, as I rarely use it, if at all.
Hope this helps. Anyone else, please correct me if I missed something.

Hi Charles,
Actually, there is an older Monty Trailer on the USA Games site, but it
is for beta 1.
I'm waiting until Montezuma's Revenge becomes standardised before I
really create a professional trailer for Monty and release it.
However, if anyone wants the older trailer it is at
http://www.usagames.us/downloads/trailers/Montezumas-Revenge.mp3
which is the direct download link.

2007-10-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Shaun and Hunter,
Correct. The old trailer of Jedi strike is no longer available from USA
Games, because the game no longer is anything like that old trailer. In
many ways I am still drafting the games story line.
I've actually deleted and rewrote portions of the game from scratch
twice, and still don't have a clear vision of what the game will be
like. What I plan to do when I actually have time on my hands to devote
to it is start over fresh and begin with writing the games story line,
figure out who the major characters are, and then figure out what
sounds, effects, music, etc I need to make it happen.
Now, this would be simplified if I used an existing story line and
characters such as the famous Jedi Knight series. Jedi Knight II, for
example, I am real familiar with just because I always had a thing for
Mara Jade's character, and enjoyed playing her roll in the game. If
you aren't familiar with Jedi Knight II Mysteries of the Sith here is
the basic plot.
The game starts out with little plot with the Empire sending forces to
attack Altyr V, a New Republic outpost, and Kyle Katern and Mara Jade
are sent to stop the Imperial attack and escape in a shuttle found in
the North hanger.
Well, after you escape you follow Kyles trail a little while as he
investigates an Imperial starbase built in anasteroid. Before leaving he
has to take the base out of action.
In level 4 we come back to Mara's quest who is looking for a mysterious
new Sith lord who is apparently aiding the Empire. She Basically,
battles some stormies, probe droids, dianogas, and she then goes to a
kantina in level 6 or so.
She is looking for one of Carde's former associates, and ends up
battling it out with some smugglers and pirates.
By level 7 or 8 she gets captured by Ca'pa the Hut, and the level starts
out locked in a cell. Your job is to figure out how to get Mara out of
her cell, all by the force of course, kill the gamorian guard in hand to
hand fighting, and before she can get to her light saber take on a
legendary sized rancor. Who wants to eat Mara. Basically force blind,
distract, whatever you have to get passed him, get to the weapons room,
get your saber, go back and cut the ugly brute down.
Anyway, after you escape Ca'pa's palace you are on a cruiser which gets
attacked by Imperial forces. Now, Mara is placed in the roll of stopping
another Imperial attack, and quite apparently these troopers are
following her around the game trying to take her out. Not that it does
them much good.
By level 9 Mara shows up in an Imperial city, and there is some lame
battles. Not much plot here either, but good fighting.
By level 10 the plot begins to glew together. Mara finds herself in a
swamp, and finds Kyle's shuttle from level 1 in the swamp. "Hmmm... What
is Kyle doing here?"
Well, if you find the secret door hidden in the cave out walks a clone
of Mara Jade all mean and filled with the dark side of the force.
She'll try anything to kill you including force distruction, force
blinding, force lightning, and is a real mean broad.
After you kill the clone and enter the cave proper you will have to face
an army of dark side zombies which have force powers of their own. If
you make it to the main chamber you discover, gasp, Kyle, Mara's former
friend, is the new Sith lord. If you choose to battle to the death with
him he will rip you a new one.

2007-10-04 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Charles,
Actually, there is an older Monty Trailer on the USA Games site, but it
is for beta 1.

[Audyssey] stats of week 8

2007-10-04 Thread jason
Hello Jim and Tom here are the stats for week 8
The eagles beat the cowboys 14 to nothing. I used lots of running plays and it
eventually wore their defense down. How ever they will able to move the ball
allot more on my defense then the rams did. I had to use different defenses at
times. How ever it was victory so that's what counts.

Re: [Audyssey] Thomas and Jim week 7 stats

2007-10-04 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Jason,

Wow! you really clobbered the Rams. Nice job.

My Browns are now 14 and 0. They beat the Panthers 30 - 7. I don't usually,
but I went for it on fourth down 3 times and made it each time. One for a touch
down. I did have 4 turn overs though. My defense was very good though. Well
except for the one time that the blitz didn't work and the Panthers scored a
touch down. My defense even scored a safety.

BFN

[Audyssey] A "Gaming Galaxy Update!" at 1:50 in the morning.

2007-10-04 Thread Trenton Matthews
Well, to make up for the page being down for quite a bit, the "BSC Games"
have now been added to the galaxy, every single one! And also, the link to
the "Troopanum 1.5" sound-pack has also been added. Proper credit has been
made of course.
Ok, everyone, I'm going to bed now... See you in the morning.
Well ok, later this morning...
