[Audyssey] New Monopoly game, World edition

2009-02-17 Thread Phil Vlasak

Hi Folks,
Here is the second new Monopoly board game on the Amazon site.
It has new features that could become a new board on Jim Kitchen's game if
someone wants to do the board file.

Monopoly Here and Now World
by Parker Brothers
$25.40
Get ready to wheel and deal in the millions of dollars with your own
monopoly credit card and a digital banking device that keeps track of your
balance
Each game includes six randomly selected movers based on items that are
iconic to the continents
Join in the biggest MONOPOLY game yet, where the deal button adds an extra
element of excitement so, for a fast and frantic game, deal away
As you play discover interesting facts about the world on the chance and
community cards
Contents: 1 game board, 1 banker unit, 6 randomly selected movers, 28 Title
Deed Cards, 16 Chance cards, 16 Community Chess cards, 6 Monopoly Bank
Cards, 32 houses, 12 hotels, 2 dice and instructions

Electronic Banking Comes to the Monopoly World
Perhaps the biggest addition to this version is electronic money management.
The banker unit offers two slots--one for paying money and one for receiving
money. You'll have to keep tabs on the millions (M) and thousands (K) when
entering numbers, and make sure each card is inserted correctly, but
overall, the unit makes handling transactions easy. It also makes taking a
break from a game and coming back to it later simple by saving player
information until you clear it.

Movers
One neat aspect of the game is that you don't know which 6 pieces your game
will come with. The options are: (

North America) Canadian Mountie, Cowboy Hat, Baseball Glove, Nascar, (
South America) Inca Mask, Inca Statue, Easter Island Moai, soccer ball, (
Europe) London Cab, Pretzel, Matador, Windmill, (
Africa) Safari Hat, Egyptian Head Mask, African Mask, Camel, (
Asia) Chinese Dragon, Tuk-Tuk, Russian Dolls, Sumo Wrestler, (
Australia) Kangaroo, Koala bear, Surfer, and Boomerangs.

You also get a mix of houses and hotels from each location which are really
interesting. The locations, starting from GO are: (Brown) Gdynia, Taipei,
(Light Blue) Tokyo, Barcelona, Athens, (Pink) Istanbul, Kyiv, Toronto,
(Orange) Rome, Shanghai, Vancouver, (Red) Sydney, New York, London, (Yellow)
Beijing, Hong Kong, Jerusalem, (Green) Paris, Belgrade, Cape Town, (Dark
Blue) Riga, and Montreal.

The four what would be railroads in the original game are Monopoly Rail,
Monopoly Air, Monopoly Cruise, and Monopoly Space.

The two that are normally the water company electricity are Solar Energy
and Wind Energy.

Game Play:

The board comes with standard dice and cards (the electronic system is just
for banking). The instructions recommend that if you have several people
playing making one person's job the banker (and that's it). You will need it
with this banking system. It has a noticeable lag in transactions and once
the game gets going where every turn has bank transactions occurring it will
take one full person to do this job.

Pros:
*Banking system is easier to keep up with and add up (in the end) than the
paper money. Also you don't run into the problem of running out of paper
money

*The 6 pieces from the 20-30 available are interesting
*The world theme adds an interesting twist. My little sister said on the
first game Woo! I got Boardwalk, uhh I mean Montreal :)

*The houses from each different country are very creative

[Audyssey] New monopoly games, US edition

2009-02-17 Thread Phil Vlasak

Hi Folks,
I noticed two new Monopoly board games on the Amazon site.
These are not computer games.
They have all new features that could become new boards on Jim Kitchen's
game if someone wants to do the board files.

Here is the first, and the world adition will be in the next message:
Monopoly Here Now Limited Edition
by Hasbro
$18.83
The back of the box poses the question, What would the Monopoly game be
like if it were invented today? One could sum up most of the difference in
one word: inflation. If you're used to playing the traditional game, you
might feel a little woozy handling Monopoly money denominations that start
at $100 thousand and top out at $5 million. Players are no longer vying for
control of Atlantic city but now the entire U.S., from sea to shining sea.
Entry level properties like Baltic and Mediterranean Avenues, which sold for
$60 back in the day, have been replaced by Texas Stadium in Dallas and
Cleveland's Jacobs Field, each selling for $600,000. The most disturbing
piece of property for sale in this game is the White House--one can only
assume it's someone's subtle political humor. Railroads have been replaced
by airports like O'Hare and JFK. Utilities have been supplanted by cell
phone and Internet service. And, of course, the game pieces have all been
updated: laptop, cell phone, hybrid car, commuter coffee mug, jumbo jet,
super size fries. Gameplay, however, is still the same. The idea is to buy
properties, build houses and hotels, and charge other players rent when they
land on your land. Thankfully, transactions are still handled in cash and
not by some convoluted electronic banking scheme. There's a lot of changes
here that will make cynics and traditionalists sour. That's okay. The
original game is still available to them. What's interesting about this
edition is that it brings back a kind of jaw-dropping thrill--one that made
this game a household word in the middle of the Great Depression, when
people dreamt of becoming a millionaires. This game will let you dream of
becoming a billionaire. --

Monopoly: Here and Now Edition is a whole new twist on the classic property
trading game. Move around the board, collect money, and punish your siblings
financially as you have good clean family fun. This updated version includes
modern day rents and all-new contemporary game tokens and airports.
The four railroads are now airports, including LAX, JFK and Chicago's
O'Hare!
Hot property includes Times Square in New York City, Boston's Fenway Park,
Las Vegas Blvd., Houston's Johnson Space Center, Nashville's Grand Ole Opry,
and Minneapolis' Mall of America!
New tokens include the Toyota Prius, New Balance Shoe, McDonald's French
Fries, LabraDoodle, Motorola RAZR Mobile Headset, and a Laptop Computer
The goal still remains the same: buy, sell and trade well-known U.S.
properties to win the game!
The 22 new properties salute America's greatest modern destinations from New
York City to Honolulu. For the first time ever, Monopoly fans helped design
the new board by voting on their favorite landmarks from selected cities.

Greetings Yvonne.

You may disable the virtual cursor by hitting Insert + Z. It's a toggle, so
simply repeat the key combination to reactivate the virtual cursor -- JAWS
will not read webpages properly with that functionality disabled.

I believe teh syntax is:
mv fr hand|ground|container identifier to hand|ground|container identifier.
mv fr hand to p01, for example.

The help command gives more concise examples.

So most game sites say anyway. I can't wait for this game, and anyone who wants
a decent fighting game series to mess around with should get it. I warn you,
audio isn't the best in these games. But if you're like me, and like gameplay
over Audio, then go for it. I'm not saying that audio doesn't matter, but in my
opinion, gameplay is just as important. Seven games, maybe six, and one of them
which was never released out of Japan. Hope others are going to check this out
too.

To tell the truth though, it might be the one console I don't buy. Its 75
