Hi Johnny, Probably most people wood bring a flashlight along, but again adding one to the game would make it too easy to play. That's precisely why there isn't one in the game. Smile. Re: [Audyssey] Finally! A Victory!
Hi Shaun, First, I'll drop you a hint. How you are handling the fires is far more complicated than it needs to be. Think about the c command, and what does it do. How can it help you with this situation? Second, as far as fists goes i've been thinking of it, but have rejected it for the time being. As i mentioned earlier I want the game to be challenging. I'm not going to pander to those gamers that want an easy game, with no challenge, and that can beat it in their sleep. O.K. Maybe adding fists would come in handy. However, you are missing the point of why I reduced the ammo. I want gamers to try and avoid monsters, to figure out a strategy to escape, instead of killing every single monster they see as though they were Rambo or something. HTH shaun everiss wrote: what I have done is s p o i l e r s p a c e count the steps. What I do, save game, count steps till I enter the fire. restore the game, count the steps and then minus 1 step. On the first pit. walk till you hear the sound of the pit far away. walk right so you are swimming again, swim left once. walk 17 steps then jump. walk 14 steps then jump. find your statue. going back is easier in some ways. you need to be right in front of the statue though. walk 6 steps to the right. jump walk 14 steps then jump. I must say you need to count though. Tom maybe in the next build could you start with your fists as a weapon, I just wander if those would be usefull probably couldn't do much, but better than nothing. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] Finally! A Victory!
Hi Phil, Lol! Good one. That would be funny. Seriously though, I could make the fires so they only burn her, take away some health, instead of killing her outright. That would be more realistic although a bit less challenging. That's a thought. Phil Vlasak wrote: Hi Thomas, How about when Angela, reaches 0 meters from the fire you hear the sound of her boots burning? Then the sound of her toes sizzling? Re: [Audyssey] Finally! A Victory!
Hi Stephen, Yes, obviously she can see them if you use the view command. That's what the command is there for. O.K. Instead of calling the fires traps let us just call them challenges shall we. I'm not, under any circumstances, going to trade challenge and difficulty here for those gamers that want everything quick and easy. I'm not that kind of gamer, and certainly not that kind of developer. I respect challenge, hard work, and want my games to be slightly difficult to beat. Several players, including myself, felt that the warnings were too easy so they were taken out in this beta. Smile. Stephen wrote: Well for angela, she can see the fire, so I wouldn't exactly call that a trap, I tend to think of traps as those you can't see unless you look very very very hard. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] MODA view
Hi Phil, That's a bit more programming than I had planned on for the view command. I agree that it would be better to speak the nearist item first, but that also requires a much more complex view system. More than i really think is needed to get the basic information across. Besides I am hoping to release by Christmas if possible. That puts me on a time table which i seriously hope I can keep. I've got just over two months to finish up, and I don't want to take any unnecessary delays for 1.0. Smile. what I have done is s p o i l e r s p a c e count the steps. Re: [Audyssey] MODA view
Another view suggestion... could you say have two ways to view? One way I think would be productive is to have a modifier, say alt or something, and hold that down and press left or right arrow, and it reports the closest object, or a series of objects in that direction. - Original Message - From: "Phil Vlasak" To: "Gamers Discussion list" Sent: Tuesday, September 29, 2009 5:54 PM Subject: [Audyssey] MODA view Hi Thomas, A few ideas about the view function. When you hit v you could have five women discuss what the next step to take should be. Oh,no that is the View TV show. How about if you hit v and arrow through the objects and it gives the distance along with the name such as, Statue 10 meters, fire, 7 meters, fire 1 meter, cancel. Or, You hit v and arrow to the fire object and hit enter. Then each time you step it reports the view to the object you selected. Fire 2 meters fire 2 meters, fire 1 meter. This goes on automatically until the distance gets larger. This could work for creatures too. [Audyssey] MODA view
Hi Thomas, A few ideas about the view function. Real good game even with the current view function. smiles, Phil --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Rofl, after a hour with the beginner's level, and alot of swearing, I have to quit playing and get back to work, but so far, the game defeats me--- the lack of ammo coupling with the superhuman centaurs get to be a bit too much at times rofl Still, a fun game, and I'll return later to give it another try. By the way, is there no way to duck and move at the same time? Running past those centaurs usually get me dead. "No one ever kicked ass by saying I can't." Re: [Audyssey] Mysteries of the Ancients
I remember reading a version of the story of Orpheus and Uridice that talked about Cerberus being a normal dog before Hades got hold of him. But as I said in another message I'm curious as to his attacks in Mota, since as I said it sounds almost as though he's got a gun. Well at least you have the option of running past the boss to get to the other door. Just pray you explored everywhere and got all the keys, or running past him won't make any difference. [Audyssey] Wii Sports Resort
I've been playing Wii Sports Resort a lot lately and wanted to give you the heads up on it. First of all, it's made by Nintendo apparently, or whoever did the original Wii Sports, and is just as accessible (or inaccessible, however you look at it.) The package comes with a little box containing a tilt ball which knows precisely how you are holding your wrist, and other than the fact that you have to calibrate it from time to time this is an awesome addition. The company has shamed itself though--they proved how badly they did on the first, (only five games,) by putting twelve games on this one. Skydiving and Power cruising are, as far as I can tell, totally unplayable for a blind person. Sword play is hard for obvious reasons, but still fun. The computer is awfully easy to beat in dual mode. The frisby games are very good if you have a sighted person telling you where the target is--eleven o'clock, etc. In frisby golf, you have to point at the frisby you want, but each makes a different sound is panned from left to right, so knowing exactly which you are on before you click is easy as well. Table tennis is easier to play than real tennis, believe it or not. Cycling is fun, especially when you beat your sighted friends. When you get out of breath, there is a sound effect to let you know, which is different for each player. Golf and bowling are harder than ever, and now they have introduced 100-pin bowling. You'll still do better with sighted help with both these games, but you may find yourself schooling your sighted friends easily with some practice. My favorite game on there though is basketball. You can dribble, pass, and make baskets easily, ranging from a 3-point shot to a slam dunk, and it often tells you how many points you or the other player got that round and whether the game was tied. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] off topic programming question
I find Basic4ppc to be the best for starting programmers, with enough samples that programming is a snap. I mention this particularly because it can compile for the desktop also, and because it is so much like other versions of basic that you can learn from any code you find on the net. Re: [Audyssey] thought i'd share this site
I remember brailing a scrabble deluxe game--just labeled everything. It was a pain in the neck because the tiles kept popping out of the squares, so when I went to the store at the Braille Institute, Anaheim, I got excited to get a *real* brailed scrabble game, thinking it would be just like the ones I played when I was a kid. It was just a labeled scrabble deluxe game, and I have the same problems with it as I do with the one I labeled, so don't bother about scrabble unless you can find the old-school game. That would be worth the price. Do you live near Sandusky Ohio, or are you planning a trip to Cedar Point? Re: [Audyssey] Accessible rpg engine
Hello I was refering to the TBG engine, not the mud creator. I download the mud creator and found it more inaccessible than the TBG. Sadly, I understand from what is written on the site that the mud creator will replace the now abandoned TBG. I'm not going to start trying to create any text games using the TBG as I'm still waiting for more news about the new audiogames scripting engine that Philip is now testing.
