Hi dark, just wondering, and i know this has been answered before, how many emon adventures are there going to be? only if I wanted to get virtual xp, 16 bit games are the principal reason why I'd consider it, for as far as i'm aware, I wouldn't really need it for anything else and i'm just wondering whether emon would be worth it as i'm a huge fan of rpgs. Re: [Audyssey] Reply to steven regarding Eamon
The answer is a lot. There are currently about 180 Eamon adventures due to be converted into Eamon deluxe format, most from the classic 250 Eamon adventures, but also some Eamon deluxe original ones too. Frank black who maintains Eamon deluxe has also said he plans to convert the other 95 or so original Eamon adventures to Eamon deluxe format after the current version is finished, and that's not counting whatever other adventures people might write for the Eamon system (indeed I well might do one myself). I have personally played about 20 or so adventures in the beta copy I've been testing, and the rest are due to come soon. So if you like the idea of text rpgs, there is lots in Eamon deluxe to keep you going and indeed if my own pc broke tomorrow and I needed a windows 7 machine I'd make getting a virtual xp environment fairly top on my priorities list. Then of course, don't forget there is more than just Eamon. Fallthru, westfront, drone, braminar and world of legends are also text rpgs playable with dos (check audiogames.net), and there are others out there too, as well as some older audio games that don't convert well to windows 7 for one reason or another. [Audyssey] side scrolling robot game concept clarification... what are your thoughts
Hi listers, If you've heard of real steel, and transformers, this idea, as it stands, might give you both. Can't say too much right now but tell me what you think: [this storyline is merely a paraphrasing of the full thing as it is currently, although as with everything that follows, it is subject to change] You play a robot on the side of good, made so by the Japanese developer of high-grade military hardware Kendo ukasawa. in 21 15, going through the streets of futura city, you are tasked with recalibrating (killing) the evil meks that have rebelled against their human masters. The meks were designed with the aim of making the humans live's easier, but that was only true for 2 years. Who is behind the transformation of these everyday robots? Fight your way through the war-torn streets of futura in this action-packed side scroller, with quick-time events, a level designated as the active tutorial, and possibly other features. The health system is what will be the most confusing probably, to most people. You have 5 power cells, which reduce in halves - this is your health. It will reduce obviously if you take damage. You can have as many powe cells as you want collected on your way, but you can only plug a max of 4 in - because you can't lose all your power cells unless you get hit through all 5. Take the scenario. You have half a cell left, you plug 4 in, you press the I key (if you guys ever get to play it you'll see why that key is used), you'll have 4 and a half. And you can't have half power cells. You'll have your fists, left/right, guns (2 of those) and your cannons (which need to be recharged after a number of shots), and your guns aren't limitless either - they must be reloaded. Tell me what you think and I'll relay your thoughts to my fellow developer. Re: [Audyssey] side scrolling robot game concept clarification... what are your thoughts
Hi Ben, This is what I have to say for your developer. I think this game has a lot of potential. I think that, from what you have told us, the logistics are down. I'd say go ahead with it. A few pointers though: Make sure you use high-quality audio. This includes sounds and vocals. Nothing detracts from the gameplay of an audio game quicker than crappy or poorly produced audio. Depending on what you require and the quantity of those requirements, sounds can get fairly expensive but like I said it all depends on what you're looking for and what you need. Once you've finished coding, get a good beta team. Test, test, test, test! Try to find as many bugs as you can before you release. Even though you might not be able to find every single bug, users will respect you if they know you took the time to continuously test for problems rather than just compile and hope for the best. Good luck! On 3/16/2012 5:26 PM, Ben wrote: Hi listers, If you've heard of real steel, and transformers, this idea, as it stands, might give you both. Re: [Audyssey] side scrolling robot game concept clarification... what are your thoughts
Hi Kevin and Ben, I would quite agree with the below post. As for the audio, I would say you can get quite high quality audio from sounddogs.com. The reason I mostly use them is because they have a little known discount you can get. Also if you only add sounds that you found by searching for your keywords here _sdc you get a much higher discount. The way you get this discount is by having 10 or more items in your cart, then email them or call them to ask for a discount on a custome virtual cd or something like that. It may take a few tries to get them to understand you're not trying to get custome produced sounds, but once you do they'll charge your card or send you a paypal invoice and you'll get your discount. Also I've noticed that the more amount of sounds/the higher the price of your total cart, the bigger the discount. Re: [Audyssey] Good browser games (please no LoGD clones)
If you're looking for a interesting game for the internet? Why not try the following role playing game. It is a truck driving game. The name of the game is called truckingsim. It's address is www.truckingsim.com For we jaws users, you will need your navigation keys turn on though. You start out with $10,000.00. You'll have to budget that with your first truck and to decide if you want to add any goodies onto the truck or not. Your next large decision is to drive as a independent or for a company. If you want to drive for a co? Take a look at Smooth Riders. Pretty much all of the blind drivers are driving for Smooth riders and we have a e-mail listing to help out the drivers as well. So think about it and hope to see you out on the road. Actually, world of legends runs just fine without needing a 32 bit system. Re: [Audyssey] trucking sim
Hi mike. Here's to another new driver. SMILES. The company you want is Smooth Riders. Is it a tricky game to play? No. I would recommend when starting out to only drive for ten turns. When you come up to 100 exhaustion points, I would stop and log back in later to drive some more. We have had some experience points and a better truck are driving for around eleven exhaustion points. For each hour you stay logged out is a hour you'll gain back. For example, you just driven for ten points. How do you get two points back to take you back down to eight points? Wait two hours and then log back in and drive those two points once again. or, wait until just after the top of the hour. Truckingsim is it it's second beta. But anyone can jump in and drive their trucks. If you have a question or a proud moment to bragge about. We're on channel 1 9er. So enjoy the new adiction of a game. SMILES. Not supprised, I am testing the official beta and there are a lot of bugs to iron out. I have a patched version not ready for general release either but its not complete. Even my version of the demo is totally outdated. Bare with us as we try to sort things. I won't have time till maybe the next 2 weeks have gone as as wel as work I have a probable falier of the primary coms node here and I need to replace it. THat can take some serious time. I'm having trouble with the demo adventure, when I open the mail box and try to get the paper, it tells me I can't get it, so I tried reading it, but that didn't work either. am I doing something wrong? I'm also using jaws 11 and I can't review the screen with the jaws cursor. At 12:02 AM 3/16/2012, you wrote: Hi Steven. I'm replying to your message here to aide discussion. Firstly, I think you might have got this a little wrong. i'm not actually developing Eamon Deluxe, I've just helped with beta testing and writing reviews, and am a fan of the system. The developer is frank black, and you can reach him by the address in the blog. Eamon always has, and will continue to be free. the eamon site can be found at http://www.eamonag.org/index.html and there is also an eamon deluxe page on audiogames.net, though bare in mind that is severely out of date, sinse the old version 4 of Eamon deluxe from 2005, while just about runnable has some compatibility issues and annoying habbits with screen readers and takes a little jiggering to get to work. Needless to say though, these have been utterly fixed in the new version, plus a lot of access features added that weren't there before. In Fact frank is doing a great job in terms of access, even going as far as describing Ascii graphics, as well as allowing full access to everything in text (previously there was a graphical main hall that had some advantages over the text one, but that is now fixed). Lastly as to platforms, yes, it's a shame, but there is no way around it unfortunately sinse as I said the alternative is dosbox. If you use windows 7 pro microsoft have produced a virtual xp machine that can run 16 bit applications, or you can use software such as vmplayer. I'm however not the person to ask about this question, which is indeed why i have moved this discussion onto the audeasy list, sinse there are more qualified people than me here who can talk about it. Hope this answers your question. All the best, Dark. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org.
