Re: [Audyssey] Alter Aeon primer

2012-10-30 Thread dark

Hi Kieth.

I know muds are rather intimidating in general in the way people talk about
them, but that is no reason not to try them out. . basically i's all to
do with the fact that with a mud, events happen in real time and people
program different things to happen when those events occur, or program
multiple commands to be put in at once.

for instance you might program your character to cast a healing spell
whenever your health gets low. None of this is necessary to worry about when
getting started however, and even at more major levels it's quite possible
to play without an ounce of programming and I've myself played project bob,
materiamagica and a couple of other games just with the standard vipmud with
no programming at all and been fine.

For most muds I would highly recommend vipmud from www.gmagames.com, sinse
it's simple, quick and easy to use and works with various speech output
methods including sapi.

Alteraeon however is even easier, because oriol gomez has put together a
soundpack and client especially for the game.

this outputs to screen readers and also adds background music and sounds as
well as making a lot of scripting automatical, so if you want to know your
mana for instance just hit shift f3, and some spells such as healing will!
be cast automatically for you by the client.

Just download and run the inosetup and you should be good to start creating
your character and exploring alter.

Read the docs for info on mushclient, and either look at the alter help
pages or ask other players for some assistance with the game.

As to "getting your characters destroyed" well unlike some games (ough
miriani! cough), alter has no pvp unless you want. Some of the monsters can!
get tough, but that is all part of the game and the newbie areas are more
than enough to prepare you.

As I said, I was a little apprehensive of getting into muds myself, but I'm
now distinctly a fan, especially of alter with the soundpack, which now
verges on being an audio rpg in it's own right, so just feel free to dive in
and have a go.

All the best,

Dark.

Hi is there a primer on how to play alter aeon?

I hear all this talk about tiggers and what not, and I'm kind of nervous
about playing the game, thinking I'm goig to get my character's butt
smeared all over the net.

Thanks

When you get logged on look for Mathayas. I'll help. I might not be on

Re: [Audyssey] Using gold wave, was Slightly off topic: smugglers 5.

2012-10-30 Thread Valiant8086
Me I have foobar2000 open them if I just press enter. It is configured
to stay in the background so I can go down a list of files in a folder
in windows explorer and whack enter as I go by and it plays immediately.
I can use that to try and pick a good sound, and if I want to open in
gold wave I hit the context key, h, g for open with then gold wave. I
did what you are talking about way back when but I unchecked the
checkbox that says always open this type of file with this program. It
opened that particular one in gold wave but the next time I just hit
enter on a .wav it played it with foobar, however gold wave is now
listed in the open with menu.

Hi Phil,

Yeah, that is how I have my systems set up as well. On Windows I have
wav files open directly up in Goldwave so regardless if I have them in
a special edit folder or I want to open and edit them from a flash
drive they automatically open in Goldwave for me. My Linux
installation is set up in the same way. If I'm on Ubuntu 12.04 all I
have to do is press enter on a wav file and they will open up directly
into Audacity for editing. It makes editing sounds a sinche.

Hi Jim,
I set my default sound player for .wav files to Gold Wave
This way all I have to do is go to any folder and arrow to the file then
hit
enter.
It opens the file in gold wave and when I'm done editing will save the file
in the same folder.
To do this you need to use the open with selection in the context menu then
browse to gold wave on your computer.
It is not in the list of programs you can use to open sound files.

[Audyssey] regarding Kitchensinc.net Monopoly

2012-10-30 Thread Curt Taubert
I found out that there is a way that I can switch boards however, I have to go
to the Kitchensinc in my start menu and, run it through administrator each time
to do that. I don't know if there was a goof when I reinstalled the games or
what. Because I also can't get the foot play.txt to come up after the first
game.

I don't see how this applies to gaming at all. And what's more, the patition
