Hi Scott, it's not ringing in my ears, just a sort of wooly feeling if I've been flying for longer than 5 minutes, my earphones are noise reducing ones, and fit right over my ears, I actually use them when I'm on a long flight to America going on holiday, as they droun out the background noise of the engens, and although the volume isn't overlyloud, I might try turning it down a bit more and see if that helps. Hi Lindsay: In short, yes. X-Sight Interactive has been gone for a couple of weeks now. Damien made an announcement about this back at the end of December or early January. However, he has put all the games on his personal website if you want to redownload them etc. Cheers! Hi Damian is x wheel now abandonware? I didn't see it on your site. - Original Message - From: "Damien C. S. Hi Lindsay, Unfortunately I have indeed had to close the doors on X-Sight. I did send a message about this in December, but to recap, the whole project was doomed to failure from the start. My inexperience in audiogame development caused a complete downward chain reaction. I didn't invest half enough money into the project, our first game was marketed badly for US based customers which caused a slight scandal, we didn't have half the materials we needed which meant that a lot of our games were substandard and a lot of my team members left at this point when they realised it was coming to nothing. By 2013 it was all left to me, which meant that I felt under immense pressure to get the ball rolling, and my pride and determination was my undoing. Yet another scandal arose over a non-gaming project, the funds were exhausted, and my marriage was at breaking point. Since the closure, I have had time to sit back and play a lot of newer audiogames such as Entombed, Swamp, and the Bokurano Daibouken series to name a few, most of which are actually free. Based on these experiences, even if I were to begin development again at some point, my ideas for games would probably seem trivial, and I haven't yet the experience of programming bigger games in those styles to be able to promise anything substantial, let alone marketable. Myself, now, I personally feel like I'm part of an older generation of developers struggling to keep up with both current technology and gameplay styles and expectations, so I'm handing the ball to the more confident, younger generation who seem to have a lot going for them. It saddens me, but all things must come to an end, and unfortunately, I feel like my time developing games is done, unless I work on a collaborative effort. [Audyssey] Help with tdv2
Hi everyone, I’m trying out the consept demo of TDV2 from bpcprograms, but am confused on a couple of things. When I try to upgrade from version 1, I’m not seeing a register option from within the game. Also, do people think it’s worth upgrading at the moment, as version 2 is still being tested? I’m also trying to save my game, as I can only play for about 10 minutes at a time before I have to take a break, but there isn’t a save game choice when I press o for options. Finally, I’m not sure if anyone else gets this feeling while playing, but I find that after just a few minutes of hearing the engen sounds of my aircraft, my ears go a bit funny, like they do if I’m actually on a flight going on holiday. I don’t feel sick or anything, but I’m just wondering why other audio games don’t have the same affect on my brain, is it to do with the way sounds are recorded or something? Re: [Audyssey] Problem with Self Destruct, can anyone help?
Gary, I don't mind telling you that this game, which was originally developed by somebody else and then maintained by myself after he abandoned it, is terribly designed. I couldn't make any sense of the source code, and it wasn't even designed with Windows 7 in mind. It was developed in Visual Basic 6, an old and depricated language that needs a bunch of extra dependencies, which came all nicely hooked up on Windows XP, however they have to be installed and registered manually on Windows Vista and later. The biggest problem component, it seems, for Visual Basic 6 games, is the Visual Basic wrapper for DirectX8, which is a file called DX8VB.dll. I have a little utility that will install and register that for you automatically (perhaps I should put that up on my site if I am going to host these games...Thanks for the reminder!). However, the problem with the key generator I have never been able to resolve, nor have I even been able to compile a version without all the registration nonsense, which is rather sad. I have often wondered whether I shouldn't simply take that game down and completely destroy it in the most evil way possible. Grin. If I can be of any further help, just let me know. Kind regards, Damien. -Original Message- From: Gary Price(Gmail) Sent: Tuesday, February 04, 2014 4:06 PM To: Gamers@audyssey.org Subject: [Audyssey] Problem with Self Destruct, can anyone help?
