Re: [Audyssey] tabletop rpgs?
I’ve been into tabletop RPGs off and on for quite a while. A few years back I ran a campaign set in the world of Glorantha, which my players enjoyed. I’ve been interested in getting back into the hobby lately. The thing about RPGs is that it’s easy to fall into a place where you read more games than you play or run. That’s where I am now. So lately I’ve been reading a lot of different sorts of games. I can’t commit to any kind of long term campaign, but I’d love to experiment with one-off adventures sometime. I'd love to play. I imagine Skype or possibly play by email is the best way to do this sort of thing. Just thought I’d get out there :) --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] tabletop rpgs?
I took a look at RPG scribe, and maybe it won't be what I'm looking for. I thought maybe I could adapt it to what I'm doing, but I don't see a way to adjust modifiers. I can adjust the main numbers with the plus and minus buttons, but I don't see a way to adjust anything else. Mike. Re: [Audyssey] tabletop rpgs?
It's the thought of playing over live voicechat that actually makes me considder buying a new mike and seeing about getting skype running again. Play by e-mail or forum would be possible I suppose, but for me would really negate the point of tabletop rp, namely the live player interactions with the Gm and the other players, indeed some of the best moments i've had in rp have all been spontanious. For example oin our mutants game for various complicated reasons we were trying to catch a shadow mage who had run into a cave system on a planet ruled over by a powerful, dragon summoning warrior. Halfway through our fight with the shadow mage, the ceiling was literally blasted apart, and the gm made a most impressive description of the armored, caped warrior standing atop a huge floating slab of rock descending into the cavern. He then made a most grim speech along the lines of Who dares! to come into tmy realm uninvited! You shal pay! Instantly then I had the idea for my character to pipe up with you don't entertain much do you? which of course set everyone laughing (it did get me hit by about four different dragons at once but was worth it for the fun factor). Later in the same fight, I had the rather fun idea of undermining the warrior's dragons, so I stood up and gave a speech to the effect that true dragons shouldn't be pets to mortals. I then created an illusion, first of one of the most impressive dragons we'd seen on our travels. Then, of a very tiny dragon sitting by the feet of the warrior looking up at him adoringly, with a bow around it's kneck sat next to a little plastic feeding boll labeled scorchy People actually said it was a wonderfully whacky idea, and it actually took the dragon's out of the fight by causing them major confusion, but was one of those instant, spir of the moment ideas that likely wouldn't come across in any other place but real time. All the best, Dark. There is always more to know, more to see, more to learn. The world is vast and wondrous strange and there are more things benieth the stars than even the archmaesters of the citadel can dream. - Original Message - From: Zachary Kline zkl...@speedpost.net To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Wednesday, February 04, 2015 6:36 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] tabletop rpgs? Re: [Audyssey] clok mud questions
Hi Ian. yes, the realism is very nice, even things like laying a campfire require work, and I find I get much more satisfaction from even doing simple things like hunting an animal, butchering it, preparing a campfire and cooking the meat in my skillet (perhaps with some onions or herbs I've foraged), just because of the detail involved, same goes for stuff like fletching arrows or chopping down trees.
