Re: [Audyssey] free accessible ios games
Many of the free games on mobile platforms either have limited functionality or they have ads. It's a great way to try before you buy. To me, the ads are infuriating, so I get rid of them as soon as possible, either by deleting the game or buying it. In my opinion, paid games for mobile devices are a fraction of the cost of computer games, so I don't mind paying for them here and there. I used to buy one game every two years or so when I had a computer, and now I buy half a dozen in a year. Hi Keith, This is an excellent idea. I am a Mac user, and when Angel Gift was released, I downloaded the file, thinking that Mac users could also play this game, as it was indicated at the time that everybody should try and have a go at this title. I didn’t run the file, but just deleted it when I realised that the game was only for Windows. Anyway, yes, I 2nd your suggestion. I just wish there were more strategy type games out there. Diceworld and the like are fine but they get boring after a time. I have played startraders which is good but again there's only so far you can go with it. just increasing the difficulty doesn't make a new game. Not that I care if a game is free or not I don't personally. If it's good and playable and if I'm interested in it, then I'll pay for it. -Original Message- From: Gamers [mailto:gamers-boun...@audyssey.org] On Behalf Of Appleman Sent: 24 February 2015 16:56 To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: Re: [Audyssey] free accessible ios games Hi Teresa, I agree with you on the ads. Re: [Audyssey] A suggestion for subject lines
While I fully agree that it's helpful to have the information quickly, I wouldn't personally want any hard and fast rules. For a start, subject boxes on mails are rather short and by the time I've written something like "new game, Inquisitor chapter 3 sister's in dream" or "new spinoff from inquisitor series Inquisitor's heartbeat" I've likely gone over the limit of what will be displayed. Plus of course, some games are multiplatform anyway, look at the choiceofgames titles that can be played on Android, Ios, in Google chrome, or indeed online on their own site through any web browser. Then of course I'm not sure how affective regulating people's subject lines is anyway or indeed whether moderator's should be attempting to lay down rules about what information people include in their e-mails anyway (to me that would be stepping over the free speech boundry a little, though of course I'm not a moderator for this list). I would recommend that people perhaps write at the top of a message what platform the game is, eg starting with "this is a great new game for windows" rather than "this is a great new game in which you do so and so" and then finishing with the platform, though even this I'd say should be in the matter of a be a suggestion rather than a rule. Re: [Audyssey] free accessible ios games
Hi Teresa. Also note that sometimes the adds are more of a pain than others. With the choiceofgames titles I always pay to remove the ads sinse I don't like the way that when your reading a page with voiceover, if the add panel at the bottom changes Voiceover stops it's continuous read, despite the fact your not reading the add panel. On the other hand, when i tried stem stumper and Zany touch I couldn't actually find! where the dam adds were. So, I'd say it depends upon the game, and where the adds are, though equally given the low price of mobile games as you mention, I wouldn't be against buying the game to support the dev even if I didn't necessarily want the adds removed. @Darren, much as I'm a fan of things like the choiceofgames, I agree we need more in depth stratogy on or off I devices, I love both star traders and Kodp for their absorbing stratogy, although with Star traders I'm fairly sure we'll see the last fix to the planet navigator which will increase stratogy options, also note that not all enemy ships show up at lower difficulties (aliens only appear on demanding I believe), so it's worth playing on higher difficulties or that reason. I will say though that some of the plans for star traders 2 are sounding not just good, but utterly amazing! backstories for your crew and individual stats? Re: [Audyssey] A suggestion for subject lines
Hi Keith, I'm not apposed to the idea if people want to do it. I do see how it might be helpful to state in the subject weather a certain game is for Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, etc. Although, I feel a bit hesitant to make it a requirement since getting people to follow the existing rules is hard enough as it is. Still, I'll wait and see what others think as it is a good suggestion. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] windows 10 pettition
Hi Lisa, I figured that might be the case. Some people do tend to post messages to any and all lists they happen to be on regardless if it is appropriate and that is why they get moderated and sometimes kicked off lists, because they don't stop and think about if the post is on topic or not. Well, I'm not going to do much about this post now since what is done is done, but if Marvin does something like this again he'll have to be placed on moderated status since the guidelines are pretty clear about off topic content not being posted to the list without moderator approval. I mainly was asking to see if he could justify his posting this message to this list before I take any kind of moderator action, because some people don't realize off topic messages aren't permissible on some lists. Re: [Audyssey] A suggestion for subject lines
Hi Tom. Yep, even on forums you need to be careful about how strict rules about things like offtopic discussion are, sinse nazi moderators who jump down members throat for not adhereing to some vague pattern of discussion do not create nice forums, and naturally humans and discussion are farely flexible matters, plus people forget the rules (really even on audiogames.net it is hard enough to get people to post in the right part of the forum). So, I agree with this being a suggestion rather than a rule. Personaly, I'll try and put the subject at the top of messages. [Audyssey] Beatstar, a new boppit type game for windows
this is a new free game for Windows by Oriol Gomez (yes the same chap who creates the MushZ pack for Alteraeon). It's a very cool twist on the boppit formula which likely everyone knows, hear the beat play and press the buttons when directed in rythm. the really awsome thing however is that this one comes with soundpacks. Completely new background music and sounds for everything in the game including the buttons you need to hit. So, the default comes with sounds from the Ios smackme, but there are lots of others that you can download from playing with the default vo sounds, to super mario (with original nes and Snes music), to guardians of the galaxy, and the game comes with a pack creation tool to let you make more. The way you unlock the soundpacks is good too, Instead of just scoring points in the game you get rewarded with beat coins, which you can use to either buy safeguards (that let you continue if you die), or new soundpacks, just download them and stick them in the soundpacks folder. This one really is surprisingly fun for a quick blast. [Audyssey] game info
Hi Thomas. Yes, I can justify this. So you have a possibility of a accessible installer, for windows 10, so then you can then install and then play and develop games for windows 10. So. I thought this was justified. Just my two cents worth. Marvin. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org.
