Hi Dark,

Good point. I'd imagine the small screens on some of those handheld
games would be a problem for you. In my case since I'm totally blind
it doesn't make a difference how big the screen is I have to go by the
audio or the game is absolutely inaccessible to me. What I usually do
in such a case if playing with family is have someone tell me when to
do this or that and try and do it which works some of the time but
usually I miss anyway.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] hand held games - Re: i'm looking for a fishing game for the IPHone

2015-04-23 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Shaun,

Well, for the record I don't think very many handheld games are
accessible. BopIt and the Lunker Bass game are only two I am aware of
that have reasonable accessibility. A lot of others I have tried were
not really accessible, so to speak, but could be played if one was
willing to take a chance on hit or miss.

For example, my ex and I had a deer hunting game that I could sort of
play. If I had some sighted assistance I could be told to walk, left,
right, forward, etc and it would say something like got him in your
sights when the crosshairs were lined up which made it somewhat
accessible. However, by and large many handheld games don't even have
that level of access.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] Entombed 2 Windows and Mac Test Clients

2015-04-23 Thread dark

@Tom.

Entombed two isn't even a paid upgrade it's as you said a separate game
entirely, indeed it's being programmed right from scratch and is as I
understand using different language and development tools from entombed,
such as unity and lua scripting. As far as I understand the situation while
jason might borrow some of the more interesting concepts from Entombed 1,
he's also planning on altering lots, so it is as you said an utterly
separate game, ie, this is entombed ii the skeleton tower, not entombed
version 2.0.

How the pricing might work goodness knows, especially sinse the plan is for
entombed 2 to be modable, but like much else with Entombed 2 we'll have to
wait and see.

Jason has however said on the entombed list that the beta versions at least
will be free.

Beware the grue!

Re: [Audyssey] hand held games - Re: i'm looking for a fishing game for the IPHone

2015-04-23 Thread dark
There was a pretty awsome game my parents bought me for christmas about 7 or
8 years ago called say what.

The game has five plastic balls about the size of a tennis ball which fit
in holes at the top, each round it'll give you a famous phrase scrambled in
five chunks each chunk represented by one of the balls. for example, the
balls might read Power, the, of, grayskull, by

What you then need to do is rearrange the balls to make the correct phrase,
so in the above example you'd take the fourth ball representing Grayskull
and stick it at the end in position 5, while you took the fifth representing
by and stuck it at the start in position one.

This probably sounds more involved than it is, when working with the game
it's pretty instinctive.

All controls of the game are voiced menus, and you have various modes of
difficulty, for example a limited number of guesses or a limited time.

I will confess I cracked the thing in about the first half hour, but I do
enjoy the challenge from time to time, particularly sinse while it has a
limited number of phrases there are a good amount, about 200, and you don't
know which way they'll be scrambled.

There used to be a podcast review of the game for blind cool tech I believe,
but goodness knows what happened to that.

I also like the fact that there were different regional models, or at least
a Uk and Us one, sinse the one I heard on the blind cool tech podcast had an
american voice and different phrases, while the one I have has an english
voice and some phrases that are somewhat Uk specific, for example it
includes I have a cunning plan from Blackadder, and who's line is it
anyway, which is a rather famous comedy program, as well as obviously lines
from generic bits of Pop culture such as the above mentioned heman.

Actually this is making me want to get the thing out and have another play
with it, which I will likely do next week when I'm back at my flat.

All the best,

Dark.

Re: [Audyssey] Entombed 2 Windows and Mac Test Clients

2015-04-23 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Ishan,

Yes, you should be able to play Entombed 1 and Entombed 2 side by
side. Entombed 2 gets installed to different location than Entombed
1, and do not conflict in any way.

As far as I understand when Entombed 2 is released it will be a paid
upgrade since it is a completely new rewrite of the game with
different level maps, some new content, and in many ways an altogether
different product from Entombed 1.

As for your question about jobs like barbarians and brawlers that
doesn't apply just yet. This is only an early alpha, and not
everything is implemented like jobs and so on. We'll have to se when
Jason gets that far with the development.

Cheers!

[Audyssey] I think this is my highest score yet on Traders of Known Space

2015-04-23 Thread valiant8086
Here's the statistics for a game of Traders of Known Space I got. I
started playing it after I stopped coding for a while on Yellowbonnet,
oops I didn't mention that.

I'd have done better but I accidentally retired out of unlimited mode
when I wasn't planning on stopping yet. The coder was kinda stupid and
didn't make it ask if you really really wanted to quit so soon. I was
carrying a whole bunch of Radioactive isotopes puttering around in
search of a planet very much in need of them, so that hurt the score
too, I had darn near a million credits worth of cargo.

Oh, by the way, that stupid coder I'm complaining about is me. I didn't
want someone who didn't know that to jump all over me for calling a dev
stupid, lol.

Also, you'll notice the game ran for over 6 hours. It didn't actually
take me that long, I had to go do other things and just left it open
till I got back in.

Statistics for Playthrough of Traders of Known Space - a free game from
Valiant Galaxy Associates, on Version 5
The game lasted 6 hours, 22 minutes and 42 seconds and ended on
Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 7:43 PM - The player lost!

In a career spanning 28 years (unlimited mode), the player accumulated
2747622 credits.
At career's end, the envy of all space merchants was trading in a vessel
with the following capabilities:

Integrity: 10 / 10
Engine: 10 / 10
Gun: 7 / 7
Deflector: 10 / 10
Cargo hold: 3380 / 3380
Final score: 2846422!

Seems it's working. I don't know what's already done but if it does mean
anything, I tried this with jaws and tried to use some shortcuts like
upstair or downstair and all other keyboard commands bbut jaws doesn't
 speak anything.
Maybe there're not in the game yet but just reporting.

Subject: [Audyssey] Entombed 2 Windows and Mac Test Clients

 Hello everyone,

I thought I'd post here for feedback on the Windows and Mac test
 versions
for Entombed 2. These test versions have no gameplay, but if they run on
your computer, then the full game should also.

There isn't much to do other than walk around an empty dungeon. If
 you're
keen on trying it out, please let me know how it runs.

 Windows version: http://endpermian.com/e2/Entombed2Setup.msi

 Mac version: http://endpermian.com/e2/Entombed2MacOS.zip

 The Windows version works with

   - JAWS
   - Window-Eyes
   - NVDA
   - SuperNova
   - System Access
   - ZoomText

 and SAPI.

The Mac version will use whatever your default system voice is.

To move around and select menu options use the arrow keys or W,S,A,D.
 You
can increase and decrease the voice rate by using the + and - keys. This
works for Mac and SAPI on windows.

 Thanks!
 Jason

 Cheers!

You don't use the mud on the edge of the stream. Go to the material just beyond
the mud
