I just downloaded the file no problem, though I do have addblock installed.
Looking forward to checking this out.

to anyone who hasn't been checking the news over at audiogames.net, this is
about the new game in very very very! rapid development, Thewastes.
find it here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/thewastes

This is a console window style game (though it'll work on all versions of
windows), where you enter newmeric commands and hit enter.
It has a few sfx and background sounds, but most things are textual. The
controls are easy, just hit a number, for example you'll be asked 1 to equip
a weapon or 0 to move on.

The game is set in a post appocalyptic very ruined world full of mutant
creatures and nearly everything is randomly generated, from the enemies you
fight to the weapons you find, you can encounter towns and mine ore (though
the town system is a bit cursery at the moment), find dungeons full of
creatures, gain random mutations and generally have lots of fun.
The developer has already stuck in some access fixes, such as disabling the
ascii art in the game, and having an option to turn off all sounds if your
finding them too loud beside your screen reader. For now, just hit 3 and
enter from the main menu to get to options, then hit 4 and enter to disable
ascii, and 5 and enter to disable sounds.

There are new versions literally every single day with new stuff, whether
new encounters or types of monster or entire new regions, plus aforesaid
ascii fix.

The only slight issue some people have encountered (one person who reacted
rather violently I'm afraid), is that the developer is hosting the
downloads on the mediafire file sharing service which some people have found
a bit bad for random adds and even captchas.
I've had no trouble myself, but some people have.

Installing An add blocker reputedly fixes the problem, as does copying the
"download file 71 mb" liink from the mediafire page which actually downloads
the file with right click, and opening it rather than just hitting enter.

This is unfortunately just the fault of Mediafire, and no reflection on the
quality of the game, indeed the developer has mentioned moving to another
file hosting system in the future if he can.

Enjoy! the game is awesome, especially if you liked games like fallthru and
drone, I've played for literally hours this week.

All the best,

Dark.
There is always more to know, more to see, more to learn. The world is vast
and wondrous strange and there are more things benieth the stars than even
the archmaesters of the citadel can dream.

Re: [Audyssey] Fwd: Dead But Alive - New game from the Smugglers 5developers

2015-07-17 Thread dark
I suggest you discuss it with nielsbauer, particularly the addition of some
way of managing the action based stuff, eg, sound kews.

it might be made accessible if there is enough interest, hopefully things
will go better than they did in the case of empires and dungeons 2.

Announce day is finally here! Here is the latest project we´ve been
working on together with Highcliffe Media Publishing GmbH and Winter
Wolves.

Well today you get to find out a whole lot more!

The most important news is that today the public beta has been released,
so you could head over and play it right away here:

http://winterwolves.com/deadbutalive_southernengland.htm

What is Dead But Alive?

Dead But Alive is a zombie survival adventure/simulation set in Southern
England. A simple camping holiday for a former military officer suddenly
turns into a fight for survival in a world devastated by the undead.
Separated from a loved one, he must lead a small, ragged team of
survivors, build a camp, scavenge for supplies and try to stay alive, all
while trying to track her down. The game features a non-linear storyline
with moral choices on despair, commitment and sacrifice.

Key features:
• Non-linear adventure storyline with moral choices that have lasting
consequences

• Turn-based sandbox zombie survival simulation
• Manage a team of survivors, build a camp and scavenge for supplies
• Deal with depression, infection and starvation while trying to survive.
• Farm, hunt, plunder, negotiate or rob. The choice is yours.
• Full-HD artwork

Winter Wolves made three blog entries with more infos here:
http://www.winterwolves.net/blog/

Right now it´s just a beta version, but it´s well worth to check it out.

It´s only for Windows at this time. Also there is no compatibility mode
for blind people, because - although the simulation part is turn-based -
there are some action-oriented mini games included.
