[Audyssey] audio_drama_about_bob
Hi Folks, I noticed an audio_drama_about_bob on the AudioGames.net Forum by Aaron. It was fantastic. Here is what he said: Some of you wanted an audio version of Dark's story. Well, I had nothing else to do today so in the space of a few hours, I created this audio version with music and sounds, it's voiced by a synth but I hope you still enjoy it. Also, it would be really funny if someone else makes another version because the text story is here on this topic. http://aaron.tdrealms.com/audio/audio_d . ut_bob.ogg So I did one too. http://www.pcs-games.net/bob.mp3 Here is the text by Dark. Okay, lets keep this short and sweet. Once upon a time there was a website that got updated, the end! Oh? what's wrong with that? Oh yes, I forgot all good stories need characters and conflict and plot, and also dinosaurs, and alien invasions, and hoards of zombies, and neuclear apocalypses, and killer robots, and big explosions, and evil gods rising from the dark unknown for world domination. Okay, lets try that again. Once upon a time there was a website called Bob (there, characters!), who was being updated when suddenly an alien attack fleet lead by commander convenience from the planet conflict (there you see, that is clever, it's called meta fiction, see clever clever!). Anyway, the aliens then decimated most of the worlds' population, however a small band of heroes managed to smuggle an old ex soviet era warhead onto their ship which exploded. This was fine, accept the radiation from the exploding ship caused a zombie plague which produced a hoard of flesh eating undead that lived on people's brains. Then, Doctor plot device (again, see the clever?), suddenly realized that dinosaurs had such big brains it'd take the zombies far too long to eat one, so they could be used as zombie bate to lure the undead into convenient locations where the specially designed robot shock troops could eliminate them with their zombie death killing rays of extreme zombie destruction. This plan worked, however what nobody realized was that the hole sequence of events was really the design of a dark god called dark, who was actually writing all this rubbish down in a story just about site updates and had finally got utterly sick of the hole thing so randomly desired to destroy the world for some reason, well just because, you know, destroying the world is a totally unexpected ending. And so everybody lived happily ever after, if by happily you mean obliviously, and if by ever after you mean the space of about two seconds until Dark's evil power of evil made the world explode and everything went boom! Then however Dark felt a little sorry for this, since humanity really isn't all that bad and just decided that it'd all been a joke anyhow, and the planet earth popped back into existence as if none of this had ever happened but with one small change to reality, that website called Bob I mentioned a while ago, well it got updated, - ha! Well the moral of this story is, don't try to write coherently at three in the morning, though at least I can leave everyone with some updates. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] KODP?
Hi Tobias. I'd actually recommend an Ipod for that, there are lots of really great games out for Ios. i'll confess that while I have found multiple really handy things my Iphone does such as satnav maps, siri, number storing etc, I bought it primarily for games and haven't regretted sinse. Re: [Audyssey] KODP?
Hi. King of dragon pass is for Ios. There was a pc version back in the early 2000's, but it is entirely inaccessible. An android port is being developed but I'm not sure on it's accessibility (I know people have contacted the developers but I don't believe anything came of it), so thus far it's probably just out on Ios. I'd highly recommend it though, it's a truly awesome game and a very unique experience. Re: [Audyssey] For those using Dropbox on older computers
You know I really wouldn't mind getting some interface chooser, and choosing your interface like a shell you would run over your windows core. It would mean those that wanted a windows 7 full interface could continue to use it and those that wanted xp and older could use the same interface while insuring the engine worked as before. Ofcause you would loose some features but you could switch to whatever you wanted on the fly like in linux with different terminals. On 27/04/2016 11:57 a.m., john wrote: This message demonstrates your lack of practical knowledge of the field quite plainly. Xp was abandoned for numerous valid reasons, and just because you think its stable doesn't necessarily mean its fit for service for even most users, let alone business or government settings. I have a windows 98 machine. It works great, as such things go. Its got office, JFW7, USB drivers (though that took some work), and runs like a charm. I could even use it to get some work done, were I so inclined. Unfortunately, if I connect that machine to the internet, it would be pretty much instantly infected with all kinds of viruses and other nasty software, because, quite simply, windows 98 is, and has been, insecure for a tremendously long period of time. The exact same principle applies to xp. Just because windows xp is capable of running a particular piece of software, does not mean that its capable of doing it in a fashion that the vast majority of computer users would consider proper. Furthermore, windows xp lacks support for more modern hardware configurations (you're most likely limited to 3.2gb of ram, for example, whereas this 2011 laptop I'm writing on right now has 8, and the numbers are only rising). Windows xp was abandoned because it is incapable of moving forward into the future of computers, and newer operating systems are. It was abandoned because there's only so many times you can patch up a leak or rig a damaged engine before it gives up completely. This is not the first time this issue has come up on list, and every time, we receive the exact same responses. Before you post next time, please do some research of your own so you don't come across as utterly clueless about the subjects you're discussing. If you can provide some evidence to back up your points, you might make headway in convincing the rest of us. As it is however, you're ranting does nothing but make you look foolish. -- From: "Charles Rivard"Sent: Tuesday, April 26, 2016 17:57 To: "Gamers Discussion list" Subject: Re: [Audyssey] For those using Dropbox on older computers The only reason it isn't supported is because Microsoft quit supporting it. Otherwise, it would still be a stable and reliable platform for those who must rely on screen readers. But xp will continue until it is not viable for others to use or develop it. Its not safe really to run xp on the net or any network anymore anyway. So even if you are a heavy xp user you will need a modern something to continue to use it via clients.
