Re: [Audyssey] Sryth the Mirk

There's only a set location for one of the stone guardians. The others are
random encounters throughout the swamp, you just have to find 5 of them.

Of course it makes sense. You're looking for his tower, and its not in an
obvious place like the cathedral of silver rain or the king's palace, so why
not look for it like you find all the other out of the way streets?

Re: [Audyssey] Sryth are these good stats?

2007-02-27 Thread ShadowDragon
Would be pretty much impossible. I can't find the formula now, but one of my
friends calculated the probability of rolling straight 20's once, and I
believe he came up with something like 1 in 1300. So it'd take you
something like 3 melenia to roll straight 20's provided you sat at your
computer rolling nothing but stats all day every day and you could live that
long, and that's if your lucky and don't accidently click past that set of
stats during the rolling process, haha. So yeah, good luck with that.

Yeah, the game does autosave after each proving grounds sanario. It saves
your game completely and restores you to full health and stamina, so I have
no idea what the problem could be. I've heard of the same thing happening to
someone else a while back, they got the nightsong armor and it vanished, but
that was I think when the GM implimented the autosave feature.

Here's my link.

Hmm. Yeah, sadly that's about all Warriors2 quests ammount to as well. Its
either get me this, kill this for me, or show me where this is. Nothing
extremely interesting. But then again these type of games aren't for
everyone. As for paying, the first time you pay you get 3000 turns, and
every payment after that you get more turns, 500 per payment, up to I
believe 6 months you can pay for. Its only 20 bucks for roughly 3 months,
which in my opinion is worth it.

Re: [Audyssey] Warriors 2 info

2007-01-29 Thread ShadowDragon
Well, Warriors, in a way, is sort of a stat cruncher. Its a mix of
stat-crunching and sryth-style exploration. There is a game map, and certain
zones you can adventure in and such. If you've ever played Kingdom of
Loathing, its basically like that. You go to a zone and then you adventure
in it. Unlike Kingdom of Loathing though, you actually have to unlock new
zones and travel areas by adventuring in places and finding them. You can
also do dungeon exploration, and there are something like 283 quests. Be
warned, however, if you're looking for a game with perfect writing style,
this isn't it. This is a second language game from Sweeden and there are
almost no adventures in the game that are perfectly written. Also, the
combat system is automatic, that is, you have no say in what happens during
combat, it just goes round by round, but you can see the descriptions in the
combat results chart. There are awesome things about this game though, such
as the ability to acquire a small army of followers, you can recruit up to
20 and you can find more on the maps. You can have a pet that does various
things, certain pets reduce travel costs between world areas and many pets
fight beside you. I think this game is pretty fun, though it does get old
after a while. If you want to sign up, it'd be nice if you would use my
referal link, though you don't have to. You do get extra starting turns and
I believe some more starting gold if you do use it though. If you feel like
playing and want the link, just ask me for it.

Re: [Audyssey] Urban Reign

2007-01-27 Thread ShadowDragon
Well I was stuck on mission 21. But now that I got my brother to help me
change the diffaculty, I'm on mission 60 something, I think 67. Yeah, I've
heard Golem is a nasty mother. If he's hard on easy or very easy, I'd hate
to see what he's like on the very hard or master diffaculties? Are you
fighting him in the mission where you get to use a partner? I know you have
to fight him 4 times, once with a partner, twice without, and then you have
to fight him one last time where its you and a partner versus Golem and
Napam99. I bet that fight is going to utterly suck, two huge guys versus
you, heheheheh. I personally think this game rules. I've been working on
maxing out my endurance so I'll be able to beat the later missions easier.
When I was fighting Alex, he took me out pretty fast regardless of the fact
that I have striking, toughness, head endurance, and upper body endurance
maxed out, and lower body endurance probably half way to max. That kinda
makes me wonder what Golem can do, hahahaha.

[Audyssey] Urban Reign

2007-01-26 Thread ShadowDragon
Yo,
Just out of curiosity, how many people here play Urban Reign, and if so how
many people have been able to get past the mission with Glen and Grim
doubleteaming you? For those of you who've managed to get past it, did you have
someone sighted help you turn down the mission diffaculty? Or did you just wait
till you got lucky and beat them. I've gotten them really close, but I'm just
curious if I'm the only one who can come close to beating them on normal, or if
I'd be the only one to turn the diffaculty down.

[Audyssey] Gates of Survival

2007-01-25 Thread ShadowDragon
Hi,
Yet another text game manages to grab my attention. This one's not nearly as
cool as the last one, warriors2, which I still play now and again, but its
something to do if you're bored. Its still in beta, so a lot of work is being
done on it. Basically its supposed to be something like a text version of
Runescape, for those of you who have heard of that game. If you feel like
trying it out, go to:
http://www.gatesofsurvival.com/?name=Talerous
Have fun. Be warned, this game works much, much better with Firefox. It lags
pretty badly with internet explorer and some of the frames don't show, but it
is possible to play though.

Re: [Audyssey] Sryth and better weapons?

2007-01-24 Thread ShadowDragon
The weapon you're thinking of is Tsal-Kagoth, the sword of one of the demon
lords. You don't have to change your alignment to use it, it changes your
alignment for you. And its weaker than the sword of ancient wrath, its only
18 melee with some kind of power. You can also still get it in the Dirnsig
adventure as one of the random items.

Re: [Audyssey] Sryth and Mapping

2007-01-14 Thread ShadowDragon
Being a dungeon master of Sryth I have to say Daggerspire is one of the
easier dungeons in the game, not even worth manual mapping. You could get by
just fine using the text map overview most likely. I'm not sure how easy
dungeon navigation is for you, but I personally have been through Stoneback
hill even without using a map, I just go on instinct. Daggerspire is
basically straight passages, with a few side branches. As long as you keep
track of where you are and where you've been and are good at retracing your
steps, you should be able to explore each level no problem. Its been a while
since I played the dungeon, but I'd be willing to wager each level is
between 15 and 30 rooms, nothing to get stressed over. Have fun, and good
luck. If you're still having problems I might be able to think of something
more. But for now that's about all the advice I can offer.

Re: [Audyssey] beat it but!

Unfortunatley I doubt the game will ever be finished (unless there's
something I missed,) last I heard the game was abandonware. Did Jason decide
to pick it back up? Or are we stuck with an incomplete, rather too
challenging in my opinion, and buggy beta? Anyone have any idea?

[Audyssey] Danger City Keys

2007-01-11 Thread ShadowDragon
Hello,
For those of you who don't know, I've done some experimentation and I've
figured out pretty much all of the keys, at least I think I have. Here they
are. Sorry if someone's already done this.
Left and right arrow keys: Move left and right. If standing still, simply spins
your guy the other direction.
Up arrow: Jump. Rapidly pressing either left or right when in the air makes you
jump faster and farther, though I think you can jump and hold the arrow down.
Also note, you have to be facing the way you want to jump before you can jump
in that direction. For example, your guy doesn't spin in the air so if you
wanted to jump right and you were facing left, you'd have to tap right to turn
around, then jump right.
Space Bar: Punch. Also counts as action button for beating acts, ETC.
Tab: Brings up your inventory. Allows you to equip weapons, repair weapons and
so on using items, Obviously.
I: Announces your current points for that level and then your current score.
H: Announces health.
L: Announces lives.
R: Brings up a dialogue of unknown purposes. Might have to investigate further
to find out what this is.
Control: Screen clear. I assume you get a limited number of these, but it
instantly kills all enemies on the screen.

I might have missed a couple, but those are the ones I can remember. I haven't
found a weapon status key of any kind either, so you pretty much have to guess
when to use your weapon repair kits. Also, Act III has to be freakin
impossible, the pits or whatever they are aren't spaced far enough apart to
keep track of, and the sound they make is entirely too lou. Any comments on
this? Hope my key listing helps, for those of you who haven't figured it out.

Re: [Audyssey] A Project I've been meaning to start for years

2007-01-11 Thread ShadowDragon
Nah man, custom codebases are extremely flexible. I've seen plenty of muds
use menu systems in the ways I want, the moo codebase is a good example but
I don't even think I want to use that, it'd probably be much better to do it
in a custom codebase. Also, I want the game to be in full realtime so
there's no chance of it hitting the web, even with autorefresh the movement
system just wouldn't be as cool. I'd show you the muds that I got
inspiration from, but the one with the menu system is down and perhaps won't
be up for a long long while, maybe not ever depending on when the staff
decide to get back to it. The movement system I want is from Godwars II,
only less advanced, as in I won't have different speeds of movement, it'd be
like most RPG's, you just run through areas, even villages. As for the
battle system, I'll just use the menu systems similar to the Moo codebase,
(as godwars II has done in its character creation and customization modes,)
as my battle system, with messages displaying in between the menu options
and such. It'd work like Dragon Quest does, where you tell all of your
character what you want them to do, then you go through a round of combat
where all attacks are executed, then the menu system pops back up and
everything starts over.
I'd really like to get this project off the ground, but I'm not sure how
much time at all I'd have to work on it seeing as I'm in college and I
pretty much screwed myself last semester, I'm gonna have to lay it down hard
this semester to get back with everything so I most likely won't be able to
work on it for a while, but it'd be nice to get a good start on thigs, as
in, start learning how to make a custom codebase, look into running it on a
server and so on.

[Audyssey] Danger City

2007-01-11 Thread ShadowDragon
Hello,
Would anyone mind posting the link to download this game? For some reason it
appears I only get messages from certain people, and apparently Damien isn't
one of them. And noone left the link in their reply messages. So shrug, if you
wouldn't mind, resend it please.
Thanks.

[Audyssey] A Project I've been meaning to start for years

2007-01-07 Thread ShadowDragon
Hi,
I need to get this out in the open. For as long as I can remember I've
wanted to make a mud of my own, and I have the perfect plan for one. I've
got the framework of the mud layed out perfectly in my mind and everything,
it'll be extremely awesome when its finished. I said when, not if.
Here's the problem. I have absolutely no idea where to start programming
wise. I want it to be a custom codebase because none of the codebases around
are adaptable enough for what I want this mud to be, and I refuse to lower
it to adapt to any of the codebases on the net anywhere.
I suppose I should give out some details. The mud is going to be a Dragon
warrior, or Dragon Quest mud if you prefer. It will have multiple plots and
storylines to complete, things like you'd find in the game. Basically,
here's how it'd work. You create a hero, customize him to your liking using
full customizability or classing and then pick a world for him to go into.
He will go into that world and you can do whatever you want there, the main
plot of the world, all of the sidequests in the world, explore wherever you
want to, I think you get the point. I have no ideas for worlds at the
moment, but I could think of some easily enough. Every time you beat the
main plot of one of the worlds, you'd unlock another customizable character
to travel with you in your party and be switched out with the other
characters that join up with you in that world whenever you want. You'd be
able to keep that hero's level in the world he was in, for example, you beat
the main plot of one of the worlds with a level 70 hero, he'd be level 70 in
that world, but if you started him in another world he'd have to start back
from level 1. This would leave the plots and bosses and all completely
balanced. You'd be able to go back to any of the other worlds any time you
wanted though and still have your level 70 hero, even if you put him in
another world. There could even be expansions to worlds and such. It would
be awesome.
Well, now that you know a bit about the basic framework, time to get down to
the meat of what I want the game to be like. For those of you who have
played godwars II, that is what I want the movement system to be like. This
would allow for targetting people in towns to talk to, and buildings to
enter, and even opening chests and stuff ALA RPG style. You'd be able to do
everything you can in the games, even up to picking up barrels and breaking
them to find treasure. It'll be an amazingly simple interface, probably one
of the simplest to date. You'll move around using targetting, like in
godwars. You'll be able to target coordinates, and spacific things, like
villagers and buildings. When you're out on the world map, you'll be able to
target towns and dungeons. Your action button, so to speak, will simply be
A. Using this, you could just walk up to a barrel using the targetting
system, hit A, and your guy would pick it up. Then you hit a againt to throw
it and your guy breaks the barrel, automatically collecting any treasure
inside. Same for opening chests, doors, and whatever else. Obviously the
look command will still be there, and that'll be good for finding doors on
buildings. You'll be able to move around the building, and when you look at
it, it'll tell you where the door of the building is. You press A when
you've reached the door and your guy will walk through it and into the
building. Then the description of the building will tell you where the door
out is, and you'll be able to target it with the target command and walk
back out using the A button. Talking will be simple. If you want to talk to
someone, you go to them and press a. This will bring up whatever they have
to say, and it will be in convensional RPG style, not just all crammed into
one line like most games do. They 'll say maybe a sentence and then you hit
enter to go to the next sentence they have to say. If a choice needs to be
made, it will pop up a menu with the choices that can be made, and you'll
select one using the numbers presented. This is also how shops would work,
it'd pop up a menu of the items the shop sells, stats and all. You simply
select one to buy it and the shopkeep will ask you if you're sure, you
choose yes and the item is yours. There will be a menu accessible using the
m key. This will bring up a menu similar to the one seen in most dragon
warrior games. It will let you cast out of battle spells, there will be an
option for talk just to keep the classic feel of the game in, there will be
your items and equipment and whatnot to select from, you will be able to
pick stats to see your party's stats. Also keeping with the spirit of the
game, you will actually have to find save points, which will most likely
differ based on the world. At these save points you will be able to save,
revive lost characters, see how much experience is needed to level and so
on. So now you know about the movement and me

[Audyssey] Awesome New Game

2006-12-26 Thread ShadowDragon
Hi,
I used to be on the list, but I unsubscribed for a while. I'm back now, hope
noone minds, haha. I just wanted to tell you all about an awesome new game I
found.
The games is called Warriors2. Its fairly similar to Kingdom of Loathing if any
of you have played that, only its a perfectly serious game. It originates in
Sweeden, so it's a second language game. The gramar can be a bit sketchy at
times but for the most part its a well-written game for a second language. You
are a warrior of Valhalla, striving to be a god. You do different things in the
game, such as go on quests, fight monsters ranging from peasants to massive
dragons, gain pets and weapons, and other things. The pet system is great, its
one of the few games where you actually can't lose a pet unless they're
alignment based, they can't be hit in combat. You can build up a small army of
followers, not pet but people that follow you around and help you in combat,
taking blows for you and dishing out damage of their own. I've had up to 26
followers at one time. You can even train your followers to make them even
better. You can get pets from tiny cats that barely do anything, to huge black
dragons that do huge amounts of damage. The quests are well-thought out and
even though they may not have the best writing in them, they are still awesome
in my opinion. This is a great game, and I recommend it to anyone who hasn't
played it yet. You get 20 days of full functionality free, then certain parts
of the game become locked until you pay for the game. The objective is to play
through at least once with all four races, unlock the fifth race, titan, play
through as a titan and when you complete the game as a titan you join the gods
in their war for supremacy. Despite how repetative it sounds, it really isn't,
there are almost 300 quests in the game, you'd be hard-pressed to find the same
quests each time you play. There are good and evil aligned quests, and even
neutral quests you can do. You can advance in nobility, unlock new zones to
travel in, and much, much more. Its quite cheap however, only 10 bucks for a
good 4 months, and you get a turns bonus each time you pay. Give it a look.
http://www.warriors2.com/default.asp?referedby=196708

Make sure you use the referal link, as it gives you a huge turns bonus and
maybe some extra gold as well. I've been through the game once so you'll get
even more from it I believe. Have fun playing. If you need any help feel free
