Hey Tom, you can just stand still by not pressing any of the
arrows. smile And yes, you're right, when you press up arrow you move
forward, and when you press down arrow you move backward.
each time you press the up or down arrows, you move roughly a step in
that direction, and holding them down moves you continuously.

Pressing left or right turns you such, and if you hold the shift key down,
left or right arrows cause you to strafe left or right respectively. I.E.
face one direction but be walking left or right. (side stepping) This is
used a lot to avoid being hit while firing at something.

Then when the shift key is released, the arrows function normally
 again...

Anyway, there are easy ways to bind keys to do specific actions as well,
which can make it a lot easier in the game as well...

Anyway, glad you're starting to get the hang of it, and as I said, am
 delighted to help out.

Have a great evening and catch ya on the flip!...

Hey Tom, am happy to help out with that. I may actually do a pod

another from a different developer, called Overkill.

It's interesting, as Audio Quake itself is a mod for Quake, so he and

Anyway, as far as holding keys down and such, you can either press or

press / hold the up or down arrows to go forward / backward

changing that in future so that they can also be held down for a smooth

Ah, Tom, one last thingie. smile If you run AQ, and type tut into

the console, you'll be started on a series of very easy yet increasingly

complex tutorial maps which very nicely demo the sounds and spatial
concepts for the game.

Re: [Audyssey] Hello, and a quick intro...

2006-12-15 Thread Cara Quinn
   Hi Tom et al'

well honestly, not to play up JQ too much, but Jedi Quake vs standard
Quake are two different experiences. JQ speeds up the game play to a crazy
degree as compared with standard Quake, as well as adding a vertical
element to the 3D environment with the ability to fly, force jump, and use
a grappling hook, and offers many additional and customizable features to
the game.

As far as the learning curve, yes, there are some short comings to the
present manual, but Matthew and others have been putting a lot of time and
energy into the project of late so it is coming along.

As someone here has already said in regard to JD, (which I'll quote in
regard to AQ or JQ) if you go on instinct, it should make more sense. I
think the present incarnation of AQ really does a great job at simulating a
3D environment spatially as you move within it.

anyway, I'd love to help out if I can, to make the learning curve easier
for people, so please, by all means, the more feedback like this, the better.

Thanks so much and have a great weekend and holiday season!!!...

Smiles,

Cara
