Therefore, they tell you to close the programs (that's why "close any open programs" is endemic to every installer you see). You don't have to be this polite - just close what you can, go ahead and proceed with installation regardless of its warnings, and reboot afterwards if it makes you. If the installer won't let you get past that first screen then you've probably got a different issue that I'm not immediately familiar with. If I'm correct, you're being nicer to the computer than you have to be: As a rule of thumb installers don't like programs running when they try to set up new programs, so they can modify files that those programs may be accessing. Therefore, they tell you to close the programs (that's why "close any open programs" is endemic to every installer you see). You don't have to be this polite - just close what you can, go ahead and proceed with installation regardless of its warnings, and reboot afterwards if it makes you.
