Hmmm most odd, though being as it was written later on I suppose it's logical, even though I believe westfront written the same year still needs the 32 bit system. Thanks for letting me know, I probably ought to note this on the games db page on audiogames.net. Beware the grue! There are currently about 180 Eamon adventures due to be converted into Eamon deluxe format, most from the classic 250 Eamon adventures, but also some Eamon deluxe original ones too. Frank black who maintains Eamon deluxe has also said he plans to convert the other 95 or so original Eamon adventures to Eamon deluxe format after the current version is finished, and that's not counting whatever other adventures people might write for the Eamon system (indeed I well might do one myself). I have personally played about 20 or so adventures in the beta copy I've been testing, and the rest are due to come soon. Re: [Audyssey] Reply to steven regarding Eamon
The writing in world of legends could indeed be improved, but the game has some nice mechanics at least at the start. it's the sort of thing that would be awesome if a little more time had been paid to it. Also don't forget there are fallthru and westfront, fallthru is a particular favourite of mine though I admit the parza takes a degree of getting used to, and indeed a couple more, one i found on baf's guide to if looking under rpgs, called forbidden lands and another called psionics. Probably more are around if you look, I found braminar through some concerted googling after I saw it mentioned in the intro to Drone. Back to Eamon, just drop frank black an E-mail on eamondel...@gmail.comm if you want to try some of the beta versions, though i think we're getting into public release land with the games now anyway. I know that World of Legends was written in C++. You could download the game and its source code as well. I even recompiled it to test if my Dev-C++ was correctly set up at work. I found out that my compiled EXE was smaller than the downloadable compiled version and that the file had a readable version number in its file properties dialog (Windows XP), which the original EXE also didn't have. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Hi, That's because I believe World of Legends was compiled as 32-bit to begin with. Just because a program is console based doesn't necessarily mean it is 16-bit. Any console application compiled over the last 14 years or so is most likely 32-bit provided the developer used a 32-bit compatible compiler. Cheers! I may be able to test later tomorrow or monday, but since monday is full of broadcasting, then cracking a website to see whats up with its security/accessability for a report, chances are I will be fairly much depleted by the time I finnish. Needless to say though, these have been utterly fixed in the new version, plus a lot of access features added that weren't there before. Actually, world of legends runs just fine without needing a 32 bit system. No idea why or what's different about it since it just looks like a typical command prompt. -- From: "dark" Sent: Friday, March 16, 2012 05:22 AM To: "Gamers Discussion list" Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Reply to steven regarding Eamon The answer is a lot. I don't like world of legends very much, the style of writing looks like it was done by a 10 year old. Drone and Braminar is ok but they get a bit repetitive after a while. I'm having trouble with the demo adventure, when I open the mail box and try to get the paper, it tells me I can't get it, so I tried "read"ing it, but that didn't work either. am I doing something wrong? Eamon always has, and will continue to be free. the eamon site can be found at http://www.eamonag.org/index.html and there is also an eamon deluxe page on audiogames.net, though bare in mind that is severely out of date, sinse the old version 4 of Eamon deluxe from 2005, while just about runnable has some compatibility issues and annoying habbits with screen readers and takes a little jiggering to get to work. Needless to say though, these have been utterly fixed in the new version, plus a lot of access features added that weren't there before. In Fact frank is doing a great job in terms of access, even going as far as describing Ascii graphics, as well as allowing full access to everything in text (previously there was a graphical main hall that had some advantages over the text one, but that is now fixed).
