Hmmm most odd, though being as it was written later on I suppose it's
logical, even though I believe westfront written the same year still
needs the 32 bit system.

Thanks for letting me know, I probably ought to note this on the games db
page on audiogames.net.

Actually, world of legends runs just fine without needing a 32 bit system.
No idea why or what's different about it since it just looks like a
typical command prompt.

The answer is a lot.

There are currently about 180 Eamon adventures due to be converted into
Eamon deluxe format, most from the classic 250 Eamon adventures, but also
some Eamon deluxe original ones too.

Frank black who maintains Eamon deluxe has also said he plans to convert
the other 95 or so original Eamon adventures to Eamon deluxe format after
the current version is finished, and that's not counting whatever other
adventures people might write for the Eamon system (indeed I well might
do one myself).

I have personally played about 20 or so adventures in the beta copy I've
been testing, and the rest are due to come soon.

So if you like the idea of text rpgs, there is lots in Eamon deluxe to
keep you going and indeed if my own pc broke tomorrow and I needed a
windows 7 machine I'd make getting a virtual xp environment fairly top on
my priorities list.

Then of course, don't forget there is more than just Eamon. Fallthru,
westfront, drone, braminar and world of legends are also text rpgs
playable with dos (check audiogames.net), and there are others out there
too, as well as some older audio games that don't convert well to windows
7 for one reason or another.

only if I wanted to get virtual xp, 16 bit games are the principal

The writing in world of legends could indeed be improved, but the game has
some nice mechanics at least at the start. it's the sort of thing that would
be awesome if a little more time had been paid to it.

Also don't forget there are fallthru and westfront, fallthru is a particular
favourite of mine though I admit the parza takes a degree of getting used
to, and indeed a couple more, one i found on baf's guide to if looking under
rpgs, called forbidden lands and another called psionics. Probably more are
around if you look, I found braminar through some concerted googling after I
saw it mentioned in the intro to Drone.

Back to Eamon, just drop frank black an E-mail on eamondel...@gmail.comm if
you want to try some of the beta versions, though i think we're getting into
public release land with the games now anyway.

I know that World of Legends was written in C++.
You could download the game and its source code as well.
I even recompiled it to test if my Dev-C++ was correctly set up at work.
I found out that my compiled EXE was smaller than the downloadable compiled
version and that the file had a readable version number in its file
properties dialog (Windows XP), which the original EXE also didn't have.

Hi,

That's because I believe World of Legends was compiled as 32-bit to
begin with. Just because a program is console based doesn't necessarily
mean it is 16-bit. Any console application compiled over the last 14
years or so is most likely 32-bit provided the developer used a 32-bit
compatible compiler.

Actually, world of legends runs just fine without needing a 32 bit system.
No idea why or what's different about it since it just looks like a typical

The answer is a lot.

There are currently about 180 Eamon adventures due to be converted into
Eamon deluxe format, most from the classic 250 Eamon adventures, but also
some Eamon deluxe original ones too.

Frank black who maintains Eamon deluxe has also said he plans to convert
the other 95 or so original Eamon adventures to Eamon deluxe format after
the current version is finished, and that's not counting whatever other
adventures people might write for the Eamon system (indeed I well might do
one myself).

Hi dark,
just wondering, and i know this has been answered before, how many
emon adventures are there going to be?
only if I wanted to get virtual xp, 16 bit games are the principal
reason why I'd consider it, for as far as i'm aware, I wouldn't really
need it for anything else and i'm just wondering whether emon would be
worth it as i'm a huge fan of rpgs.

Hi dark,
just wondering, and i know this has been answered before, how many
emon adventures are there going to be?
only if I wanted to get virtual xp, 16 bit games are the principal
reason why I'd consider it, for as far as i'm aware, I wouldn't really
need it for anything else and i'm just wondering whether emon would be
worth it as i'm a huge fan of rpgs.
