Jason Alan is busy with work and family and doesn't have time to continue development on it full time, but that's not the same thing as abandoning it. No idea. today since I do have paypal now, I put in 2 bucks to get the unlockable code for the drunkard but thats it. Actually been a bit naughty, I have not tried to play this for a while.
