Can you all please change the subject line on this since the recent
messages are about a game and not web accessibility?

Thanks.

Hi Orin

That's a great question I've no idea but if it's still around it
shouldn't be hard to find. I'll take a look and if I find anything will let
you know. Or if you find it first then I'd be interested.

Hmm, Ron, does that online game, starbase challenge, still exist? Quite
interested...

Thanks.

 Hi

The best thing is to get other blind/vi players involved and write to the
webmaster of the site. Until they know we're out there and want to play
they might not consider accesibility issues.
I was playing an online game called starbase challenge. The webmaster
 and
I swapped some emails and after ironing out a few things he had no trouble
making the necessary changes to the game. I'm happy to say also he was
 more
then willing to enable me to play the game on an equal level with sighted
 players.

 Subject: [Audyssey] web accessability issues

Hi. I have played neopets and most of it is inaccessable. It seems there
isn't a ton of games on the net which are accessable to blind and sighted
players alike. I truly wish there were more. I wish there was a website
where one can raise play or battle with pets. When I was sighted I had a
petz 3 game which helped me take care of a cat or dog and I could breed
 them
and play with them. I am fairly sure that isn't adaptable but some of
 these
online sites surely could be. HAving an accessable site like
neopets might get a large following. Apparently it's popular with people
 of
all ages from all over the world. So why is there no room for the
 visually
impaired in the community? If I knew the coding I'd make a site to adress
 this gap in playability.
Seems a lot of websites are thusly. Myspace, an online community website,
is similarily inaccessible. Even agter e-mailing them with suggestions I
never heard anything back. We as a community should take action, like
 with
the monopoly.com site, and demand equal access. This affects all of us
 and
we should not stand by and take it.
Sorry, that's the advocate in me *grins* but I had to write about this for
the issue is important to me.
 Thanks.

Hi,
Also keep in mind it is not what you ask, but how you ask it. If you
email a web master or a customer service department agent be respectful
and don't come out pitching a fit. I just emailed Hazbro on obtaining
accessible documentation for their board games, special versions, and I
attempted to be as nice about as I could be. Being diplomatic is the
only way to get anywhere with these guys.

And I will write neopets. There's a lot of businesses that don't even

Hi Tom

Indeed that is true. you wouldn't want to rant and rave at them, rather
politely ask if they've ever thought about accessibility with the site.

Hi Chrissie

Basically you operated a base, had the ability to build ships, and beat
the other bases around you and conquer them for your alliance.
*note* it's been quite awhile since I've played it and there could be a ton
more to the game now. These are what I remember.

If you're still in need by the time I ascend again, I do have about 120
meat in storage. Be nice, and I might help you out. I know it's not much in
the grand skeme of KOL, but it sounds like more than you may have at the
moment. So I'd be glad to help... if I can.
