Re: [Audyssey] For those using Dropbox on older computers
You know I really wouldn't mind getting some interface chooser, and choosing your interface like a shell you would run over your windows core. It would mean those that wanted a windows 7 full interface could continue to use it and those that wanted xp and older could use the same interface while insuring the engine worked as before. Ofcause you would loose some features but you could switch to whatever you wanted on the fly like in linux with different terminals. Re: [Audyssey] For those using Dropbox on older computers
Its more along the lines of there being interfaces in newer versions that aren't available in windows xp. >From an end-user's standpoint, consider the search box. To open word in windows xp, I need to use traditional navigation keys to find the shortcut to it, wherever that may be on my machine. On later versions of windows, all I need do is press the windows key, type "word", and press enter. This metaphor remains true for developers as well. New features have been added in later versions of windows that don't exist on xp, and therefore, likely for security reasons, code needs to change to take advantage of these new features. In some cases, this means that backwards compatibility cannot be maintained. I'd welcome anybody who can mention specific examples of these developer interfaces; I know there are numerous, especially in the realm of accessibility, but I don't know them well enough to name directly. -- From: "Charles Rivard" <wee1s...@fidnet.com> Sent: Tuesday, April 26, 2016 12:46 To: "Gamers Discussion list" <gamers@audyssey.org> Subject: Re: [Audyssey] For those using Dropbox on older computers The older computers could still use Dropbox if no changes were made to Dropbox. Re: [Audyssey] For those using Dropbox on older computers
This thoroughly disgusts me, but thanks for letting us know. If you think you're finished, you! really! are! finished!! -Original Message- From: Karl Belanger Sent: Tuesday, April 26, 2016 6:16 AM To: gamers@audyssey.org Subject: [Audyssey] For those using Dropbox on older computers Hi all, As some people use Dropbox for sharing betas and other game related things I felt this was relevant to the list. Over the summer Dropbox will be ending desktop support for Windows XP computers. On June 26, you will no longer be able to download the desktop app on windows xp or create an account with it. Then, on August 29, Dropbox will sign all XP users out of the desktop app and they will no longer be able to sign in from that system. The account will still be accessible from the online site or other devices.
