Re: [Audyssey] Games on a laptop.

2012-10-10 Thread Jim Kitchen

Hi Thomas,

The problem that I would have with you redistributing my games with the Inno
Setup is, when people called or wrote asking questions, and I would not be able
to answer. That would not be good.

Re: [Audyssey] Games on a laptop.

2012-10-09 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Dark,

All of Jim's games use flat databases. IE just a plain text file with
a *.dat extension where he puts all the game information. Its nothing
fancy or complicated to be sure. Anyone can just extract the files to
a temp directory, zip them up, and when they want to install them just
unzip them to
c:\Program Files\Kitchinsinc
or to
c:\Program files (x86)\Kitchensinc
depending on which version of Windows they have. There is nothing
overly difficult about that. :D

I am personally working on an actual setup for all of Jim's games for
myself personally, but I'm not sure about redistributing them since
Jim is against using Inno Setup etc for his games. So what I'm doing
is for personal use only unless Jim is willing to let me redistribute
my setup for others.

Hi Dark,

Some of my games check for my game menu program and go back to it. But
some of my earlier games just try to go back to it. So you would get an
error when exiting those games if they are not in a folder with my game
menu program.

Two mega packs eh? One with and one without my adult games. Lets see

Since I do not have a file with all of my games, maybe if you have a thumb

Hi Darren,

Actually, no. Since all of Jim's games depend on Winkit and always
exit back to his menu program if you linked directly to the *.exe
files and didn't install the game menu they would crash when exiting.
Besides this doesn't answer Lisa's question which was if there was a
single installer for all of Jim's games. As it happens the answer is
no to that question. :D

Re: [Audyssey] Games on a laptop.

2012-10-08 Thread dark

Hi Lisa.

The good news is Jim's games in stall the same on a laptop as any windows
machine, in either c:\program files, or program files x 86 as I believe the
folder is on post xp windows.

All are playable on a laptop with no keyboard issues at all (I'm writing
this mail on my own laptop with all of jim's games on it), so no trouble
there.

the bad news however is that there is no single install file. first, you
must install the winkit file to create the kitchinsinc folder and directory,
then run the winlife, win hh, winmast etc files for the other games of jim's
you want individually, in fact I dread to think how large a single arcive
of all jim's games, with all the golf courses, trivia sets etc would be! :D.

the winkit file will also install all the needed visual basic 6 runtime
environments needed to run jim's games.

Hth.

Beware the grue!

dark.
