Re: [Audyssey] game modding/programming question

2009-11-19 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Matthew,
Well, if you want a professional education I highly recommend
subscribing to

http://safari.oreilly.com
and you can browse their catalog of online programming books and materials.
For An accessible game programming mailing list I have one at
http://www.usagamesinteractive.com/lists.php
where I and others try to answer basic programming questions, offer code
examples, etc. I did have a programming wiki, but that got whiped out
some time back, and I haven't had the time to rebuild the wiki yet.

Smile.

There are a couple of mailing lists for general VI/blind programming out
there, and check out things like Inthane Elf's grab bag to give you an
idea/starting point, maybe:

Hi,
I think a decent language to start with is Python. You can find tutorials at:

...not sure if it'd be so nice for a start... not to hurt any python
programmers here but it has its own weird convensions, I mean you have to
use indentation for letting it know about if and other statements, anyway if
you do decide to go this way have fun.

Hi Peter,
Agreed. Yes, Python is easy for some people to learn, but you trade off
a lot of professional training and skill by going with Python. Plus it
uses some really non-standard conventions that will screw you up if you
try to learn another programming language.
