2008-09-02 Thread gatornet
Rick,

If this were a service you were paying for, I would be able to understand your
frustration, but since this is a FREE service provided by people with full-time
jobs and family responsibilities as a labor of love because of their love for
the gators, then I'm at a loss as to your rude email to Shane.

I have explained to Shane that your email is an example of some of the heat
that Jerry and I have taken for years from people who forget that this service
is free and have unrealistic expectations of what they should receive for their
FREE membership.

I will tell you the same thing I have told others... It's obvious you are an
unsatisfied customer, and since the service is already free, I can't offer
you a refund. Therefore, if you are THAT unhappy, maybe you should just
unsubscribe. If you can't figure out how to unsubscribe, drop me an email and
I'll do it for you.

Thank you,

I QUIT!

You find some one else who has more time than me, like rhillyard here, to do
this. Ungrateful...

I have 3 small kids (all under 2) at home and I don't always have time to sit
down in front of the PC on weekends to post articles the minute they pop up on
the website. I can do that during the week A LOT easier than I can on
weekends. If I'm a day late or a little later in the day on the weekends, is
it really that big of a deal? Obviously to some people it is!

I had over 400 emails on Sunday to sift through and I had less than 30 minutes
while they were napping to do it in. On top of all the text editing I have to
do to get these in the proper format, I didn't have time to see who posted
what from the Gainesville Sun for me. I thought I was helping, but if I'm
causing people like this to have a coronary then ask him to do it. He
obviously has the time and is looking for some thing to do to help out the
group.

I QUIT!

Urban Meyer wants a dominant running back in his offense, but it really
 wasn't
 necessary Saturday.
Florida had 11 players run the ball - six were running backs - for 255 yards
 in
 the 56-10 drubbing of Hawaii.
And all of it happened without UF's most consistent home-run threat from out
 of
the backfield in junior receiver Percy Harvin. The first touchdown of the
 game
even came off of a 1-yard run by running back/receiver Brandon James (three
carries for 16 yards) of all people.

The Gators' stable of running backs was so active that for the first time in
 a
season opener under Meyer, UF's backs combined for more than 100 yards (187
 yards on 21 carries).

It's going to be interesting as this thing progresses, Meyer said of the
running back rotation. One of the great thrills of being a coach is being
 able
to have some really good looking checkers to put on your checkerboard and we
have some right now, especially at running back.

Two of those checkers were of the travel-sized addition in freshmen Chris
 Rainey
and Jeffrey Demps. Rainey (5-8) finished the game with six rushes for 58
 yards
and an electrifying 33-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Demps (5-8) ran
twice for 76 yards, displaying pure speed on his 62-yard dash to the end zone
 early in the third quarter.

We kind of like fast people around here and Demps is fast, Meyer said.
 Jeff
Demps can really run and he's not a track guy playing football. He's a
 football
 player.

After cutting to the left off an excellent block up the middle by center
Maurkice Pouncey and then slipping through a tackle, the unfair foot race
between Demps and a couple Hawaii defenders was on.

When I broke the tackle and I saw some space I kind of knew I was going to
score, but at the same point I was thinking I had to just outrun him, Demps
said of his touchdown run. I was running fast but I know I can run faster. I
 was running pretty hard, too.

While Rainey and Demps impressed throughout, the highly anticipated debut of
Southern Cal transfer Emmanuel Moody did not go as planned and senior Kestahn

Unfortunately he has left. The reasons were not clear. I understand
that HB had worked for Scout previously so it is not surprising that he
went back.

I don't think that the quality of GatorCountry will decline, however.
They have been working to expand in the areas that HB had contributed.

To the members of GatorTalk,

I want to apologize to each and every member of GatorTalk publicly for sending all of this through the list. Rick sent this to me privately and I should have either taken the high road and not replied to him at all or replied to him privately. I should have never taken his crap to the list in the first place. I'm extremely sorry for having done this to each and every member of the list, to the owners of the list, and specifically to Rick. I'm terribly sorry and I hope you all will accept my apology and forgive me.

Next, I don't have a good excuse other than I have a 7 week old baby at home and I've not had a lot of sleep in that period of time. To say the least, my patience, understanding, and tolerance of others is non-existant right now. I reacted in a way that I am deeply embarrased of and is totally unlike me.

I next want to offer a public apology to Rickas well, because I've said things in private emails to him thatI'm veryashamed of and will have to live withall of this.I'm very sorry to you Rick for what I'vesaid to you.

Asa Gator fan, who loves the Gators more than most things in this life, I will not foresake my family or my Savior on weekends, so that I can posts all of the SUN's articles the minute they appear on their website to please people like Rick. I would rather spend my time with my family and in Church, where I obviously need to attend more. :-)

I was accused of posting articles thataren't even football related, like theGainesville Bars one thismorning. If I haveoffended any one by posting articles like that, then I amtruly sorry. I was trying to post every thing that I could, with thethought thatsome one out there may care to read it. I've always thought that I may not care about this article, but Rick might. Again, I'mdeeply sorry for posting things that are out of the scope of the list's intentions, and I hope you all will forgive me.

In closing, please accept my humble apology for bringing this public, for posting things I evidetnly shoudn't have, and for the things I have said in private to Rick.I wished I wouldhave reacted to Rick differently this morning, but I can't have a do-over, unfortunately.

I'll leave myfate on teh list to the owners. I wouldn't blame them if they kick me off or punish me in some way. I've alreadygranted Rick's request and asked them to findsome one else to post the SUN's articles to the list. Hopefully, they will find some one else that will do a better job than I did.

Thank you foryour time and understanding,

As much as we might not want to admit, all of us have lives outside of

The Florida offense we saw last Saturday in the big win over Hawaii is
not the offense we will see Saturday night against Miami.

I know, I know, I'm not taking much of a gamble by saying that.

To anyone who saw the game, it had to be obvious the Gators were holding
a lot of stuff back in the opener mainly Tim Tebow. He threw only 14
passes, carried the ball only nine times and scored only one touchdown.
When you have the best player in college football, your offense is
supposed to revolve around him. It did not in the opener. It will from
now on.

Urban Meyer and offensive coordinator Dan Mullen clearly took a
conservative approach against the outmanned Rainbows, knowing it would
be good enough to secure a victory. Tebow mainly handed off to those
speedy young tailbacks and watched like the rest of us. Other than the
tailbacks, there seemed to be real effort to put the ball in the hands
of the playmakers Tebow and his wide receivers. The down-field passing
game was basically left on the sideline.

This Saturday night, we'll see the offense. Tebow will be doing his
thing (including running the ball) and spreading the ball around to the
playmakers, including wide receiver Percy Harvin, who returned to full
speed Monday night.

UF will have to use all of its weapons because this is a talented and
physical young Miami defense that is capable of creating major problems
for the Gators.

We've been hearing for months now how explosive this Florida offense is
going to be. We'll start finding out Saturday night if it's going to
live up to all the hype.

I don't think it is a victory dance. I think it is The Haka, a Polynesian
pre-battle dance/ritual, designed to send them into battle in a frenzy, and the
scare the you-know-what out of their opponents.

The New Zealand rugby team, The All-Blacks do it before every match. The
difference is, they usually win.
