  A 73-Year-Old Gives Basketball a Second Shot
  By JERÉ LONGMAN

JACKSON, Tenn. - Before Sunday's basketball game, Coach Yogi Woods gathered
the junior varsity at Lambuth University. Watch out for 73 on the other team,
he said. He did not mean the player's number. He meant his age.

The visitors, Roane State Community College, had a septuagenarian guard, Ken
Mink, college basketball's oldest player, who has started a second career after
his first ended a half century ago with a mysterious shaving-cream incident.

If the 6-foot Mink was good enough to play, he was good enough to be guarded,
Woods told the Lambuth players. Then he turned to the freshman Kendrick Coleman
and said: "If he goes in for a layup, don't let him have it. If he scores on
you, we will never let you forget it."

This mixture of curiosity and macho dread has greeted Mink all season at
colleges throughout Tennessee. After all, how do you defend a guy whose peers
are generally pumping iron to supplement their blood levels, not to build their
muscles? On Nov. 3, the junior-varsity coach at King College told one of the
Roane players, whom he had coached in high school, "If the old guy scores,
we're walking home."

Late in that game, Mink entered and found himself open in the corner. He gave
a pump fake, and the defender ended up draped over him like raccoon coat.
Calmly, he hit both free throws. The Hack-a-Mink strategy had failed.

"I thought some teams would play along, humor him," said Randy Nesbit, the
coach of Roane State, located in Harriman, Tenn. "No, they're not like the
Washington Generals. They're like sharks sensing blood."

At home games, Mink has been a crowd favorite. Attendance, usually about 100
per game, has on occasion swelled to 400. Mink's wife, Emilia, 68, wore a retro
cheerleader outfit to the season opener, complete with saddle shoes and a
poodle skirt. She held up a sign that said, "Ken Can, He's Our Medicare Man."

No one has been happier than the guy who runs the Roane concession stand.

"He even put a new item on the menu, polish sausage with peppers and onions,"
Nesbit said. "It was just plain hotdogs before."

For a guy Mink's age, two-a-days are a likely reference to multivitamins, not
double practices. But while shooting around in a neighbor's driveway in the
summer of 2007, he realized he still had his shooting stroke. So he sent e-mail
messages to eight tiny colleges near his home in Knoxville, Tenn. Perhaps a
small school could use a guy with an old-school push shot.

"You do realize you're 72?" Emilia Mink asked her husband. "Do you think you
can convince someone you're not?"

Nesbit, the Roane coach, grew intrigued. A former point guard and coach at
The Citadel, he kept himself in terrific shape at 50. He was curious about the
possibilities of athletic performance at an age when Gatorade has been replaced
as the sports drink of choice by Metamucil. Still, he wanted to meet Mink
before offering him a spot on the team.

"I think he wanted to make sure Ken wasn't out on a weekend pass," Emilia
Mink said.

Ken Mink told Nesbit a story of unfinished business: he had played at Lees
College in Jackson, Ky., only to be expelled from the then-Presbyterian school
in 1956 as his sophomore season began. His crime? Mink said he was accused of
soaping the coach's office with shaving cream, slathering the lights and even
the coach's shoes.

He denied it. "I don't even shave," he said he told the university president.
Apparently, his alibi was not as smooth as his baby face.

"It's been eating at him all these years," Emilia Mink said. "Ken likes to
finish what he started."

Marcus Mullins, a student manager on that Lees team, said he remembered Mink
as a "good, hard-nosed player, a big raw-boned kid." ("I used to be 6-2," Mink
said.) While he was not certain of the facts, Mullins said, the university
president at the time was a stern man who did not tolerate prankish misbehavior.

"I know there was an incident, and suddenly he was gone," Mullins said of
Mink. "I'm sure he's telling the truth."

Mink said he joined the Air Force in November 1956 and playe

Sam Bradford

Quarterback, Oklahoma

Team record: 12-1 overall, 7-1 in the Big 12, defeated Missouri 62-21 in
conference championship game.

Total yards: 4,529 (4,464 passing; 65 rushing).

Total touchdowns: 53 (48 passing; five rushing).

The argument for: He's been the leader and trigger man of one of the most
explosive offenses in the history of college football, one that has scored
60 or more points in the last five games. His passing numbers are off the
charts and his touchdown production is well ahead of his Heisman rivals.

The argument against: He lost the head-to-head matchup with Colt McCoy and
Texas, which has made some voters take a second look. Those weak defenses he
faced week in and week out in the Big 12 also could cost him some votes.

Summation: For those voting on sheer numbers, Bradford is the obvious
choice. The question is: will he be able to hold off the late-charging
TimTebow.

Colt McCoy

Quarterback, Texas

Team record: 11-1 overall, 7-1 in the Big 12.

Total yards: 4,021 (3,445 passing, 576 rushing).

Total touchdowns: 42 (32 passing, 10 rushing).

The argument for: He beat Bradford head-to-head and he's a much more
versatile quarterback than his Big 12 rival. If the Longhorns had not
dropped an easy interception or given up a miraculous TD reception to
TexasTech's Michael Crabtree with only seconds to go, McCoy probably would
have the Heisman sewn up.

The argument against: While Bradford and Tim Tebow have been playing on the
national stage the last few weeks, McCoy has slipped almost completely off
the radar. The Big 12 tiebreaker that sentOU to the conference title game
instead of Texas really hurts his chances.

Summation: OU gets to play for the national championship, but many voters
will remember McCoy beat Bradford in their head-to-head matchup. He
definitely has Heisman numbers - and that big win over OU on his resume.

Tim Tebow

Quarterback, Florida

Team record: 12-1 overall, 7-1 in the SEC, defeated Alabama 31-20 in the SEC
title game.

Total yards: 3,079 (2,515 passing; 564 rushing).

Total touchdowns: 40 (28 passing, 12 rushing).

The argument for: He lived up to the emotional promise he made after the
loss to Ole Miss, sparking the Gators' nine-game winning streak with his
strong play and leadership. In the biggest game of the year, withUF
trailing, Tebow's flawless fourth quarter carried the Gators to a victory
over Alabama in the SEC title game. His versatility may be unmatched in
college football.

The argument against: The numbers aren't there like they were a year ago,
and they are well behind the overall statistics piled up by the
front-runner, Bradford.

Summation: Tebow fell off the Heisman radar after the early loss to Ole
Miss, but his play down the stretch (especially in Atlanta last week) has
has put him in position to

  A 73-Year-Old Gives Basketball a Second Shot
  By JERÉ LONGMAN

JACKSON, Tenn. — Before Sunday’s basketball game, Coach Yogi Woods gathered
the junior varsity at Lambuth University. Watch out for 73 on the other team,
he said. He did not mean the player’s number. He meant his age.

The visitors, Roane State Community College, had a septuagenarian guard, Ken
Mink, college basketball’s oldest player, who has started a second career after
his first ended a half century ago with a mysterious shaving-cream incident.

If the 6-foot Mink was good enough to play, he was good enough to be guarded,
Woods told the Lambuth players. Then he turned to the freshman Kendrick Coleman
and said: “If he goes in for a layup, don’t let him have it. If he scores on
you, we will never let you forget it.”

This mixture of curiosity and macho dread has greeted Mink all season at
colleges throughout Tennessee. After all, how do you defend a guy whose peers
are generally pumping iron to supplement their blood levels, not to build their
muscles? On Nov. 3, the junior-varsity coach at King College told one of the
Roane players, whom he had coached in high school, “If the old guy scores,
we’re walking home.”

Late in that game, Mink entered and found himself open in the corner. He gave
a pump fake, and the defender ended up draped over him like raccoon coat.
Calmly, he hit both free throws. The Hack-a-Mink strategy had failed.

“I thought some teams would play along, humor him,” said Randy Nesbit, the
coach of Roane State, located in Harriman, Tenn. “No, they’re not like the
Washington Generals. They’re like sharks sensing blood.”

At home games, Mink has been a crowd favorite. Attendance, usually about 100
per game, has on occasion swelled to 400. Mink’s wife, Emilia, 68, wore a retro
cheerleader outfit to the season opener, complete with saddle shoes and a
poodle skirt. She held up a sign that said, “Ken Can, He’s Our Medicare Man.”

No one has been happier than the guy who runs the Roane concession stand.

“He even put a new item on the menu, polish sausage with peppers and onions,”
Nesbit said. “It was just plain hotdogs before.”

For a guy Mink’s age, two-a-days are a likely reference to multivitamins, not
double practices. But while shooting around in a neighbor’s driveway in the
summer of 2007, he realized he still had his shooting stroke. So he sent e-mail
messages to eight tiny colleges near his home in Knoxville, Tenn. Perhaps a
small school could use a guy with an old-school push shot.

“You do realize you’re 72?” Emilia Mink asked her husband. “Do you think you
can convince someone you’re not?”

“I think he wanted to make sure Ken wasn’t out on a weekend pass,” Emilia
Mink said.

Ken Mink told Nesbit a story of unfinished business: he had played at Lees
College in Jackson, Ky., only to be expelled from the then-Presbyterian school
in 1956 as his sophomore season began. His crime? Mink said he was accused of
soaping the coach’s office with shaving cream, slathering the lights and even
the coach’s shoes.

He denied it. “I don’t even shave,” he said he told the university president.
Apparently, his alibi was not as smooth as his baby face.

“It’s been eating at him all these years,” Emilia Mink said. “Ken likes to
finish what he started.”

Marcus Mullins, a student manager on that Lees team, said he remembered Mink
as a “good, hard-nosed player, a big raw-boned kid.” (“I used to be 6-2,” Mink
said.) While he was not certain of the facts, Mullins said, the university
president at the time was a stern man who did not tolerate prankish misbehavior.

“I know there was an incident, and suddenly he was gone,” Mullins said of
Mink. “I’m sure he’s telling the truth.”

Mink said he joined the Air Force in November 1956 and played regularly in
military tournaments for four years. He then went on to a career as a newspaper
editor, continuing to play basketball in recreation leagues. Since retiring in
1999, he and his wife said, Mink has kept active by playing golf, w

I actually have some mixed feelings on him staying until after the game. I
am not sure that I would give him that opportunity. If he stays, assuming
that he is human like the rest of us, he will be time-sharing at best. He
has to pack, move, and more importantly for him and Mississippi State, he
has to recruit! There are not enough hours in a day for him to do these
things, much less for him to game plan. Urban doesn't need distractions.

  Sam Bradford

  Quarterback, Oklahoma

Team record: 12-1 overall, 7-1 in the Big 12, defeated Missouri 62-21 in
conference championship game.

  Total yards: 4,529 (4,464 passing; 65 rushing).

Total touchdowns: 53 (48 passing; five rushing).

The argument for: He's been the leader and trigger man of one of the most
explosive offenses in the history of college football, one that has scored 60
or more points in the last five games. His passing numbers are off the charts
and his touchdown production is well ahead of his Heisman rivals.

The argument against: He lost the head-to-head matchup with Colt McCoy and
Texas, which has made some voters take a second look. Those weak defenses he
faced week in and week out in the Big 12 also could cost him some votes.

Summation: For those voting on sheer numbers, Bradford is the obvious choice.
The question is: will he be able to hold off the late-charging TimTebow.

If the Longhorns had not dropped
an easy interception or given up a miraculous TD reception to TexasTech's
Michael Crabtree with only seconds to go, McCoy probably would have the Heisman
sewn up.

The argument against: While Bradford and Tim Tebow have been playing on the
national stage the last few weeks, McCoy has slipped almost completely off the
radar. The Big 12 tiebreaker that sentOU to the conference title game instead
of Texas really hurts his chances.

Summation: OU gets to play for the national championship, but many voters
will remember McCoy beat Bradford in their head-to-head matchup. He definitely
has Heisman numbers - and that big win over OU on his resume.

  Tim Tebow

  Quarterback, Florida

Team record: 12-1 overall, 7-1 in the SEC, defeated Alabama 31-20 in the SEC
title game.

  Total yards: 3,079 (2,515 passing; 564 rushing).

  Total touchdowns: 40 (28 passing, 12 rushing).

The argument for: He lived up to the emotional promise he made after the loss
to Ole Miss, sparking the Gators' nine-game winning streak with his strong play
and leadership. In the biggest game of the year, withUF trailing, Tebow's
flawless fourth quarter carried the Gators to a victory over Alabama in the SEC
title game. His versatility may be unmatched in college football.

The argument against: The numbers aren't there like they were a year ago, and
they are well behind the overall statistics piled up by the front-runner,
Bradford.

Summation: Tebow fell off the Heisman radar after the early loss to Ole Miss,
but his play down the stretch (especially in Atlanta last week) has has put him
in position to possibly repeat last year's Heisman victory. UF coach Urban
Meyer has said Tebow is one of the greatest college football players of this
era, and many of the voters look at him the same way.

charts and his touchdown production is well ahead of his Heisman rivals.

Miss, but his play down the stretch (especially in Atlanta last week) has
has put him in position to possibly repeat last year's Heisman victory. UF
coach Urban Meyer has said Tebow is one of the greatest college football
players of this era, and many of the voters look at him the same way.

  This is powerful.

  Sent from my iPhone

What I saw in Atlanta" by an Alabama Fan

I saw the third quarter. I saw Tebow get sacked. I saw Florida go 3 and
out. I saw the Tide go 91 yards in workman like fashion. I saw a helpless UF
defense. I saw Bama tie the game. I saw UF respond by missing their only FG of
the season. I saw Bama march again. I saw a UF team that was beat. I saw a
defense with hands on hips gasping for breath getting absolutely trucked. I saw
an Alabama team rolling downhill through Gator players. I saw the UF players
give all that they had left to keep Bama out of the end zone. I saw the Tide
take the lead heading into the 4th quarter. I saw the end of a championship
dream.

No way could the UF defense recover from the extended pounding they had
just endured. With two DTs out there was simply no reserve left to call upon to
stem the Tide. All that had been claimed pregame by the Crimson and White
faithful about how their lines would wear UF down and control the game had come
true. There was no hope.

And then things changed. I saw Tebow rally his offensive teammates and take
them down the field. Run after run after run after run after run and they had
Bama on their heels at their own 27. A throw a run and a throw and Tim has UF
on the doorstep. Two more runs and Demps is leaping in the endzone. Florida has
wrested the lead away and hope is reborn, dreams live again.

But this was not enough. Tebow leads this team, this university, not just
its offense. He comes down the sideline toward the end zone where the Gator
fans are thickest and exhorts them to cheer, to roar, to believe. He turns and
runs to the special team players huddled for the upcoming kick. He slams into
their huddle like a bowling ball knocking aside so many pins. He urged them to
make the stop, to finish the play. And they did. He turns to the bench and gets
in the face of his defensive teammates and makes his will theirs. He inspires
them, he challenges them, he leads them. They face the same Bama players who
had owned them in the third quarter, who had worn them down and controlled
them. They faced those same Bama players and they stuffed them. Julio Jones who
had tormented the Gators all afternoon saw a pass come his way only to have Joe
Haden drill him so that the ball fell harmlessly to the ground. Julio would
never see another pass. They held the line and stopped Coffee for a short gain.
They crushed the line that had moved them at will and finally sacked Wilson.
With the game on the line they had stuffed Bama for a 3 and out.

Then Tim Tebow went out to win himself and the University of Florida a
championship. Two runs and it was 3rd and short. Tebow keeps it, meets Mount
Cody in the hole and carries all 360 pounds of him for the first down. Tebow
throws for 33, Tebow throws for 15, Tebow runs for 5. Bama is done. Tebow
throws the last five yards to Riley Cooper on a pass that had no room for
imprecision resulting in the TD that made dreams into reality. I have never
seen a single player so impose his will on both his teammates, his opponents
and the crowd as Tim Tebow did in that fourth quarter. I am in awe. His
teammates understand. Carl Moore: "You knew he was going to lead us to
victory," Louis Murphy: "I have never doubted him. He's our quarterback." Jeff
Demps: "That's Tim Tebow. That's what he does, He's been putting us on his
shoulders ever since the Ole Miss game, but I've never seen him like he was
today." His opponents understand too. Rashad Johnson: "He kept those guys
motivated. He kept them in the game when they had the opportunity to give up
and wouldn't let them." Terrence Cody: "You give him a chance, and he's going
to beat you,"

He's not Superman. He's not unbeatable. But he will never give less than
everything he has and he will never shy away from a challenge. He is the best
team leader I have ever seen in college sports. He willed a victory for UF, not
on his own, but by giving his teammates the strength to believe and an example
to follow. And that they did.

...and THAT is why Tebow should win the Trophy.

I actually have some mixed feelings on him staying until after the game. I
am not sure that I would give him that opportunity. If he stays, assuming that
he is human like the rest of us, he will be time-sharing at best. He has to
pack, move, and more importantly for him and Mississippi State, he has to
recruit! There are not enough hours in a day for him to do these things, much
less for him to game plan. Urban doesn't need distractions.

There is a fly in this ointment...

If voters only chose one candidate this could very well be a runaway victory
for our boy. But they must place the candidates in order from 1st to 3rd
place.

Voters from the Big 12 region that think these inflated QB production
numbers are due to superior skills will likely vote either Bradford or McCoy
1st, the other one 2nd, and Tebow 3rd.

Tebow voters will have him first, then one or the other 2nd and/or 3rd.

If either Bradford or McCoy get a lion's share of the 1st place votes from
the Big 12 area voters Tim could end up with the most first place votes, but
lose due to being voted third on so many ballots. Tebow's best chance is
for the voters that have him 3rd on their ballots to be close to evenly
split between McCoy and Bradford for 1st.

one of their own. Bingo! I'm a winner.

I think Bradford and McCoy will split the Southwestern vote and Tebow will

Miss, but his play down the stretch (especially in Atlanta last week) has
has put him in position to possibly repeat last year's Heisman victory. UF
coach Urban Meyer has said Tebow is one of the greatest college football
player

I actually have some mixed feelings on him staying until after the game. I
am not sure that I would give him that opportunity. If he stays, assuming
that he is human like the rest of us, he will be time-sharing at best. He
has to pack, move, and more importantly for him and Mississippi State, he
has to recruit! There are not enough hours in a day for him to do these
things, much less for him to game plan. Urban doesn't need distractions.

Very good. I think it's possible that it WAS written by a Bama fan. All of the
Tennessee fans I've talked to hate UF, but are incredibly complimentary of
Tebow. He has a LOT of fans not just at UF, but all over the SEC and the nation.

  This is powerful.

Ed,

I agree.. but heres the problem. Kyle Whittingham I believe was the OC when
Meyer was at Utah. I believe the OC that was at Bowling Green under Meyer..
stayed at Bowling Green when Meyer left. Now Mullen is going to Miss St.
Everyone who RAN this particular offense has moved on. Mullen was
always the common denominator.

Now am i saying we are doomed... no... I think we'll see little different
version of what we are running though. Im not sure I foresee a total overhaul.
I wouldnt be surprised if we saw a lil more "typical nfl" style offense going
forward or a hybrid thereof.

And I think Jerry is right though... a NFL caliber QB coach will help..
especially with recruiting because they are saying over and over again that
Tebow will be forever compared to Alex Smith and it will hurt him in the draft.
Even though I dont think there is really any comparison between the two.. I
personally think Tebow is a much better QB than Alex Smith was...

2008-12-11 Thread A. Leon Polhill
Let's talk politics. (Relax Randy One.)

I think Bradford and McCoy will split the Southwestern vote and Tebow will
win a plurality of all other areas of the country except for the Southeast
where he will carry a large majority.

Tebow wins.

Heisman arms race

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow gets the crowd fired up during the second half
of the Gators' 31-20 win against Alabama in the SEC Championship Game on
Saturday at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.

Miss, but his play down the stretch (especially in Atlanta last week) has
has put him in position to possibly repeat last year's Heisman victory. UF
coach Urban Meyer has said Tebow is one of the greatest college football
players of this era, and many of the voters look at him the same way.

That's good stuff - but I believe there's enough in there to infer that it's a

What I saw in Atlanta " by an
Alabama Fan

I saw the third quarter. I saw Tebow get sacked. I saw Florida go 3 and out. I
saw the Tide go 91
yards in workman like fashion. I saw a helpless UF defense. I saw Bama tie the
game. I saw UF respond by missing their only FG of the season. I saw Bama march
again. I saw a UF team that was beat. I saw a defense with hands on hips
gasping for breath getting absolutely trucked. I saw an Alabama team rolling
downhill through Gator
players. I saw the UF players give all that they had left to keep Bama out of
the end zone. I saw the Tide take the lead heading into the 4th quarter. I saw
the end of a championship dream.

No way could the UF defense recover from the extended pounding they had just
endured. With two DTs out there was simply no reserve left to call upon to stem
the Tide. All that had been claimed pregame by the Crimson and White faithful
about how their lines would wear UF down and control the game had come true.

Florida has
wrested the
lead away and hope is reborn, dreams live again.

But this was not enough. Tebow leads this team, this university, not just its
offense. He comes down the sideline toward the end zone where the Gator fans
are thickest and exhorts them to cheer, to roar, to believe. He turns and runs
to the special team players huddled for the upcoming kick. He slams into their
huddle like a bowling ball knocking aside so many pins. He urged them to make
the stop, to finish the play. And they did. He turns to the bench and gets in
the face of his defensive teammates and makes his will theirs. He inspires
them, he challenges them, he leads them.
They crushed the line that had moved them at will and finally sacked Wilson .
With the game on
the line they had stuffed Bama for a 3 and out.

Then Tim Tebow went out to win himself and the University of Florida
a championship. Two runs and it was 3rd and short. Tebow keeps it, meets Mount
Cody
in the hole and carries all 360 pounds of him for the first down. Tebow throws
for 33, Tebow throws for 15, Tebow runs for 5. Bama is done. Tebow throws the
last five yards to Riley Cooper on a pass that had no room for imprecision
resulting in the TD that made dreams into reality. I have never seen a single
player so impose his will on both his teammates, his opponents and the crowd as
Tim Tebow did in that fourth quarter. I am in awe. His teammates understand.
Carl Moore: "You knew he was going to lead us to victory," Louis
Murphy: "I have never doubted him. He's our quarterback." Jeff Demps:
"That's Tim Tebow. That's what he does, He's been putting us on his
shoulders ever since the Ole Miss game, but I've never seen him like he was
today." His opponents understand too. Rashad Johnson: "He kept those
guys motivated. He kept them in the game when they had the opportunity to give
up and wouldn't let them." Terrence Cody: "You give him a chance, and
he's going to beat you,"

He's not Superman. He's not unbeatable. But he will never give less than
everything he has and he will never shy away from a challenge. He is the best
team leader I have ever seen in college sports. He willed a victory for UF, not
on his own, but by giving his teammates the strength to believe and an example
to follow. And that they did.

...and THAT is why Tebow should win the Trophy.

Ed,

I agree.. but heres the problem. Kyle Whittingham I believe was the OC when
Meyer was at Utah. I believe the OC that was at Bowling Green under
Meyer... stayed at Bowling Green when Meyer left. Now Mullen is going to
Miss St. Everyone who RAN this particular offense has moved on.
Mullen was always the common denominator.

Now am i saying we are doomed... no... I think we'll see little different
version of what we are running though. Im not sure I foresee a total
overhaul. I wouldnt be surprised if we saw a lil more "typical nfl" style
offense going forward or a hybrid thereof.

And I think Jerry is right though... a NFL caliber QB coach will help..
especially with recruiting because they are saying over and over again that
Tebow will be forever compared to Alex Smith and it will hurt him in the
draft. Even though I dont think there is really any comparison between the
two... I personally think Tebow is a much better QB than Alex Smith was...

Alabama Fan

I saw the third quarter. I saw Tebow get sacked. I saw Florida go 3 and out. I saw the Tide go 91
yards in workman like fashion. I saw a helpless UF defense. I saw Bama tie the
game. I saw UF respond by missing their only FG of the season. I saw Bama march
again. I saw a UF team that was beat. I saw a defense with hands on hips
gasping for breath getting absolutely trucked. I saw an Alabama team rolling downhill through Gator

Florida has wrested the
lead away and hope is reborn, dreams live again.

With the game on
the line they had stuffed Bama for a 3 and out.

Then Tim Tebow went out to win himself and the University of Florida
a championship. Two runs and it was 3rd and short. Tebow keeps it, meets Mount Cody
in the hole and carries all 360 pounds of him for the first down.

2008-12-11 Thread gatorrrrrr
Ed,

I agree.. but heres the problem.

2008-12-11 Thread Jerry Belloit
I was thinking that we would promote the OC from within. It gives us an
opportunity to add a good qb coach.

As long as Meyer is the head coach, any OC that comes in would most likely
have to be capable of running Coach Meyer's offense. Therefore, TT or any
other QB would not have to deal with much change other than the personality
of the new OC.

While I suspect we will hire a certain former QB to come in to be a QB
coach, it might be a good opportunity go after a good former NFL QB who
might want to get into coaching.

Also for Tim, it might be better for him to work with someone else to polish
his throws and quicken his releases.

I think its certainly an x-factor in the back of Timmy's mind for sure. I
hate to even suggest it.. but if we have a total outside that Tebow is not
familiar with (and vice versa).. and we know with pretty good certainty that
Brantley is the next guy in line... it may work out to UF's benefit for
Brantley to have a couple of years under the same guy.

Not saying I WANT that to happen.. I would LOVE Tebow to come back... but
for the most part.. wouldnt he have to start all over again with a new OC? I
dont see him wanting to go through that. If its a insider thats promoted (i
think perhaps unlikely)... he would probably stay...
