If a conference is small enough for every team to meet during the season, I
would prefer no conference CG.

I think the team that plays better over the course of a season should be
champion, not a team that gets a hot streak.

I dont think conference size should matter... I personallly think:

1) All NCAA conferences should have a championship game
2) No conferences should have an auto bid to a bcs game

Only one of those two leaves immediately; the other leaves after this
season.

To keep its Championship game, one team would need to be added before
this season, and another after this season.

Then again, things could have changed recently, there seem to be
hourly reversals of course.

RE: Re: [gatortalk] Fogey-ism

2010-06-15 Thread Charlie
I grew up loving baseball and watching it ever chance I got. My interest
waned quite a bit except for going to several Atlanta Braves games when I
lived there in 1978. We went to all 4 games when Pete Rose's 44 game hitting
streak was ended. That was followed by many years of not following or
watching BB.
Since we moved back to Port St Lucie a couple of years back my interest in
BB has been revived. The Mets have class A team here in the Florida State
League and I went to 25-30 games last year and will go to at least that many
this year. These kids are in their 2nd or 3rd year of pro ball and very
enthusiastic. Occasionally one of the NY Mets players will be here doing
rehab and we'll see them in a few games.
About a month ago they held the state HS final four here for all 6
classifications and I was able to get a free tournament pass so I went to
several games. The High schoolers do use the aluminum bats and the thing you
notice is how the ball jumps off the bat so quickly. I don't mind them from
a traditionlist poin of view but I can see some safety issues. By the same
token I have seen several wooden bats break into some wicked looking spears
in the last couple of years.
To make this even vaguely Gator related I did see a few Gator BB games live
back in the early 70's I believe those were free. I haven't seen the Gators
except on TV since.

The only sport I am really into is football. But I don't like to be at
Gator games because I can't get enough information about what is going on -
I would rather watch it on tv.

Whereas other sports, such as baseball, I love to just go sit in the stands
with some regular friends, some cold friends, and hang out.

Same here! I took out the "boring sport" comment. Just because I find it
boring doesn't mean that some folks don't find it boring at all.

There's a sport that I like a lot that's in the news right now that a lot of
you are not interested in at all, and that's cool.

I think it's great that I have the opportunity to watch my sport of choice,
just like the folks that follow baseball, golf, motorsports, bowling,
tennis, etc., do.

Same here!  I took out the "boring sport" comment. Just because I find it
boring doesn't mean that some folks don't find it boring at all.

There's a sport that I like a lot that's in the news right now that a lot of
you are not interested in at all, and that's cool.

I think it's great that I have the opportunity to watch my sport of choice,
just like the folks that follow baseball, golf, motorsports, bowling, tennis,
etc., do.
