Me too! As Ron White said "You can't fix stupid" or something to that
effect.

As far as the article goes, I think Goodman has a point, many Gator fans
were happy to see Newton go because they wanted Brantley as the heir
apparent. You can draw your own conclusions as to why, I personally think
it was because Newton was from GA. J

I, of course, was assuming we would be playing in December. I would rather
have Cam than Burton and Murphy too. I just wish Cam hadn't been so stupid.

Anyway, what I was getting at was Miami Herald's knack for making everything
the Gators do seem bad. And, Joe Goodman is supposed to be on our side! I
get the feeling he wishes he were covering the Canes.

BTW, Randy, did you see my note about the day job? J

Sorry Zeb, I thought those guys were awful. That noodle armed qb they had
could barely throw the ball out of his own shadow. What athlete's they had
all seemed to be on defense. I was very unimpressed.

I doubt they win 3 games this season.

Wells with him. It is still in its infancy. Clearly he hurt
GatorCountry.com when he left. Ray has done a pretty good job with hiring
some quality replacements. Dugan Arnett has some of Franz's ability to get
at the human interest story behind the regular story. Derek Tyson has done
a decent job at replacing Justin as well. They have made some other new
hires but they have not yet had the impact of Dugan and Derek.

I still support GatorCountry and Ray-particularly because of its historic
connection with GatorNet. One of the difficulties with GatorCountry and

  Mike Pouncey needs for
Saturday to get here quickly. After a nightmare game against Miami (OH) last
weekend that left him feeling truly embarrassed and the subject of national
ridicule, he needs to play well against USF when the Golden Bulls come to
town (12:21 p.m.; Ben Hill Griffin Stadium; SEC Network). He needs to redeem
himself. Then and only then will he get a good night's rest.

Several bad snaps by Pouncey set the tone for an effort so uninspiring that
the Florida Gators fell from third in the coaches poll to sixth in the most
recent rankings. Although the Gators finished off Miami to the tune of
34-12, their miserable offensive output (212 total yards), the lingering
memory of Florida's opening game win of the 2010 season is a mistake-filled
effort for which Mike
Pouncey has asked to shoulder all the blame. He feels his poor effort

It is real simple. The new venture is allegedly very well capitalized and
the paid Franz a pile of money.

The ESPN thing is less of an asset as it would appear. To me they add
little or no value to GatorCountry.com.

They are in the MAC. Other teams off the top of my head include: Miami, Ohio U,
Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Eastern michigan, Bowling Green (where
Meyer started), Northern Illinois, Ball State, akron, buffalo... I'm leaving a
few out, but I can't remember the rest.

One possibility that has not been mentioned is that Miami (OH) might
be a better team this year than people gave them credit for.

I recall us looking awkward in early season games against The Citadel
and Marshall (?), and then watched those teams win their conferences
and have a decent record.

Not sure what conference Miami is in, but they have a new coach and a
bunch of young players that showed some talent.

Perhaps this is a program on the rise.

He feels his poor effort
reflected poorly on his teammates and that is a burden that he's been
carrying for the past three days.

"I'm the leader of the offense and when the leader is messing it up, it
makes everybody look bad," Pouncey said early Tuesday afternoon. "It's just
not expected out of me. I've been busting my tail. I haven't been able to
sleep all week ever since the game, trying to get it right and it's going to
be right this weekend."

Didn't Pouncey call out the Freshmen DL for acting cocky in practice?
Wasn't his argument that reputations don't mean anything until a

Mike Pouncey has been consumed by Saturday's snap fiasco.

He's lost sleep, his erratic snaps are plastered all over TV and
people are "killing" him on Facebook.

Didn't Pouncey call out the Freshmen DL for acting cocky in practice?
Wasn't his argument that reputations don't mean anything until a
player proves it on the field?

Talk about kismet.

Regardless, Pouncey has been vilified because of Saturday and ESPN
analysts even counted 13 bad or mishandled snaps. Pouncey is
sticking to only three bad snaps.
"If I played that bad, gah-lee," he said. "He might need to get his
eyesight checked. I don't think that was 13.

"Thirteen snaps? I don't know what game he was watching."

The same one I watched. I have it on DVR if he can stomach watching
it again. I can't.

He feels his poor effort
reflected poorly on his teammates and that is a burden that he's been
carrying for the past three days.

If there is a word that probably best describes Mike, the half of the
Pouncey twins who stayed for his senior year (Maurice left early, was
selected by Pittsburgh in the first round of the NFL Draft and earned the
starting center job for the Steelers over veteran Justin Hart wig) it is
pride. He's proud to be a Gator and proud to be the team leader. He expects
to play well every time out. A second-team All-American at right guard last
year, Mike came back to play center, the position where Maurice earned the
Remington Award as the nation's best last year.

When you've invested so much into a new position and earning a chance to
better yourself in the next NFL Draft --- as a guard Mike would project late
second or early third round at best but as a center late first or early
second --- a game like the one
 Mike Pouncey had Saturday
is the worst possible nightmare. He's been called out on ESPN by Mark May
and is the star of a bloopers compilation on You Tube.

The snap issues were brand new for Mike and nothing he had experienced
before either in practice or in games. He was the backup center last year
and even played half of the Sugar Bowl victory over Cincinnati at center
without a single snap incident. When his third snap of the game went
bouncing past quarterback Johnny Brantley it was a surprise, but he didn't
think it would happen again.

It did. He bounced two more past Brantley during the game and was off target
on at least seven other snaps.

After the game, Mike
Pouncey stood before the media and accepted the blame for the way the entire
team played, knowing as he spoke that he was going to have to atone for his
bad game and atonement started with figuring out what went wrong, then doing
something about it.

"I grew up wher

I AM TO! The local paper in Mpls has said his "blacking out" episode was
unrelated to his migraine attacks.
He's been to the Mayo clinic multiple times for tests and last I read it sounds
like they think they are making progress. Whatever that means?
I'm very worried for him as well. This will be the last year he plays in MN
that he has a real QB; unless the coaches make a trade or some other move.

They could be the Golden Bulls, about as much as our offensive coordinator
is a guy named Adagio, or Mike Pouncey's brother is Maurice.

He feels his poor effort
reflected poorly on his teammates and that is a burden that he's been
carrying for the past three days.

"I grew up where if you're doing something wrong you change it," Mike said.
"I was doing something wrong so I don't want to stay the same. If I stay the
same we'll be back in here asking about the same thing [Saturday]."

There are theories about what went wrong --- nerves, not locking his wrist,
too anxious to block instead of first focusing on getting the snap right,
sweaty palms. Th

Hey, for you Gators in Atlanta. My daughter lives in Buckhead and I want to
let you know about a bus service to Gainesville. It is called the Red Coach
USA and it is great. It is a new bus with reclining leather seats, Wi-Fi
and electric 110v power. They also go to Orlando and Miami. It leaves
close to the airport and they have a shuttle from the airport.

I rode it last Friday and it only cost me $36 one-way but I got the senior
discount :-) and it only took 5 hours and we stopped once. I could not take
a cab to the airport from Buckhead for that price. Let me know and I can
give you more info or go here http://www.redcoachusa.com/

There are theories about what went wrong --- nerves, not locking his wrist,

sweaty palms. The list goes on and on. By now, Mike has heard them all.
Sunday morning when he and Brantley worked a long time to correct the snap
issues, Mike changed his grip on the ball. He was holding it closer to the
