There will also be a black Weber kettle grill and a blue Ford Expedition nearby. As of right now, I have my family of four, Randy L and his daughter, Leon and Paula, Helen, Randy P. (not sure if he's planning to eat or just driving by for a brief stop), and a couple of friends of mine from North Carolina. One thing I can guarantee. No matter what our record is, no matter how many points we score, no matter how badly we beat all our opponents there will always be someone on this list who thinks we're on the brink of disaster. Just look at our Gatortalk past history. There has always been someone! Of course, there are most of us who feel a victory over Tennessee is good, no matter how close or how sloppy. But, you're correct. Some people enjoy football in an apparent negative manner. Mary wins the technology award! Not only does the app she suggested work, but there is also a link at the WRUF website that allows it to stream straight to iTunes as opposed to using some other streaming player. This is important (at least to me) as my computer and stereo are not physically connected and communicate wirelessly via Airtunes. To play a non-iTunes computer feed through my stereo involves a very long stereo mini cable, patching that into an RCA y-splitter, accessing an empty source input the back of the stereo, and hoping that no one trips over it during the game. Playing it via iTunes uses my wifi network, no cables, no muss, and is automatically distributed throughout my whole house (and yard). I tested it last night, worked perfectly, listened to Larry Vettel a little in my dining room. U. choke, cough, sputter, hurl His SAT scores the first time around aren't high enough to get into UF, although his GPA is great. He knows he will need to take the SATs again and the ACT, and it seemed like he was setting himself up to settle for a college other than the one he has always always always said he wanted to attend. Well... he practically swooned as we drove across campus before lunch... so I decided a longer, more detailed guided tour was in order after lunch. :-) I think it worked. He was as wide-eyed as a little kid on Christmas Day and declared, Man, I WANT to go here SO BAD! by the time our hour-long tour was complete. I know it made an impression on him when I parked the car near the College of Business area so we could get out and walked around a bit. I pointed out the buildings where I spent most of my junior, senior and grad school years, and he didn't miss it when my voice caught a little and I got tears in my eyes. I am sure my enthusiasm showed when I told him about a couple of specific incidents that I remember in great detail, pointing out exactly where they occurred, even though I graduated in 1988. I am pretty sure I was able to finally convey to him how important UF is to me and how it isn't just where I went to school. UF is a PART of me! I mean... he has always known that I'm a die-hard, rabid Gator. He knows I will get riled up if anyone is overly critical of my Gators or my school. But... maybe it meant more to him now that he is facing that decision. When we came home, he said, Mom, don't forget. I need to register to take the ACT and SATs again. I know I'll do better this time, and I really hope I do well enough to get into UF. I know F$U and USF both have beautiful campuses, and I know UNF and UCF are getting bigger and better, but there's just nowhere else like UF, is there? ::sniffle:: He gets it. He really gets it. Cee, I also identify well with your excellent thoughts. I went through all of that 4 years ago. The awesome thing is April 30, 2010, my son walked the stage and received his degree from the University of Florida Warrington College of Business. Well... he practically swooned as we drove across campus before lunch... so I decided a longer, more detailed guided tour was in order after lunch. :-) I think it worked. He was as wide-eyed as a little kid on Christmas Day and declared, Man, I WANT to go here SO BAD! by the time our hour-long tour was complete. I know it made an impression on him when I parked the car near the College of Business area so we could get out and walked around a bit. I pointed out the buildings where I spent most of my junior, senior and grad school years, and he didn't miss it when my voice caught a little and I got tears in my eyes. I am sure my enthusiasm showed when I told him about a couple of specific incidents that I remember in great detail, pointing out exactly where they occurred, even though I graduated in 1988. I am pretty sure I was able to finally convey to him how important UF is to me and how it isn't just where I went to school. UF is a PART of me! I mean... he has always known that I'm a die-hard, rabid Gator. He knows I will get riled up if anyone is overly critical of my Gators or my school. But... maybe it meant more to him now that he is facing that decision. When we came home, he said, Mom, don't forget. I need to register to take the ACT and SATs again. I know I'll do better this time, and I really hope I do well enough to get into UF. I know F$U and USF both have beautiful campuses, and I know UNF and UCF are getting bigger and better, but there's just nowhere else like UF, is there? ::sniffle:: He gets it. He really gets it. Now... I really hope he gets in because - having seen what he'll be missing - he'll be even more disappointed than he would have been if he doesn't. !!! An accompanying investigation found that he behaved inappropriately toward female students and made a mockery of the sexual harassment lesson, with one witness claiming he made an inappropriate comment about how Latin American women dress. Food and resource economic Chairman Ray Huffaker wrote in the termination letter that Taylor previously had been suspended twice for inappropriate interactions with female students, most recently in 2008, and warned that any remotely similar incidents would result in him being fired. The University's investigation finds that your comments had the purpose or effect of embarrassing female students and, even after the opportunities you had to change your improper behavior, you persist in making inappropriate comments of a sexual nature, Huffaker wrote. Taylor said Monday that he's filing a grievance to challenge his termination. He said he was making a point that cultural differences mean Latin American women are more provocative in their business dress than women in the U.S. He referred to the recent controversy involving a Mexican television reporter covering the New York Jets as supporting his point. Preventing professors from speaking freely about such issues, he said, stifles academic freedom. If we can't go into a classroom and challenge people's beliefs and challenge them to be critical thinkers and maybe feel uncomfortable sometimes, how are we going to get them to think outside the box? Taylor said. He said the class, contemporary issues in agribusiness management, is a capstone class meant to prepare students for the real world. He previously headed the UF Faculty Senate's committee on academic freedom but said he was forced to resign because it might hear his case. According to the UF investigation, another food and resource economics professor reported in April that several students came to her with allegations that Taylor had made inappropriate comments. In addition to the comment about Latin American women, witnesses said he made female students in the class feel uncomfortable by looking them up and down and once asked a female student to dance to her ringtone after her cellular phone rang in class. In 2008, he was suspended for making inappropriate comments to and touching female students. Taylor said the incident involved a party at his house in which he tousled a student's hair. No information was immediately available about the other previous incident, which Taylor said happened 15 years ago. He had been employed at UF since 1980. Taylor denies the recent allegations, saying the investigation was flawed and the statements blown out of proportion by people who want to get rid of him. They have no case ...
