2009-11-17 Thread Ken Kirkley
They were moving, I still had confidence that they would at most get a field
goal to tie the game. But that is also the point of this, our defense steps
up late in games and makes plays. The INT was on a 3rd down, it was well
covered and despite what the announcers said, was well thrown.

RE: [gatortalk] CBS analyst - number of plays

2009-11-17 Thread Ken Kirkley
South Carolina ran 66 plays overall, 37 in the first half when Gary
Danielson was saying they had us right where they wanted us. In the second
half, they ran 29 plays for a total of 30 yards, in the fourth quarter they
ran 11 plays for a -20 yards.

Yes, our defense does appear to get stronger throughout the game...

I thought the purpose of it was to play the time of possession game.. keep
the UF offense off the field.

Granted if the CBS analyst meant that - SC kept moving the ball down the
field the whole game - ok - I agree - but why didn't he say that - and that
is too obvious - so I don't think he meant that.

My point was - the way that we rotate defensive players - and the depth that
we have - we look as strong and fast in the 4th quarter as we do in the
first quarter - if not stronger and faster.

Whereas most opposing offenses tend to wear down during the game - our
defense usually gets stronger. So more plays would not help them.
