Loeffler was actually told to leave Tebow's mechanics alone. They thought that if they tried to fix them , the adjustment period might cost the team some games, and we could win with them the way they were. Once he was getting paid to play, the team paying his salary could tweak them on their time and on their dime. My understanding is that Loeffler was every bit the square peg in a round hole as JB was. He wasn't brought in to teach JB the spread, but to help integrate pro-style offfense concepts into the spread. As we all saw, this was a huge failure for a number of reasons, one of the biggest being the boneheaded decision that to do this we needed to teach the OL completely different blocking schemes for one set of plays/players and continue to use another for the rest. Of course the OL coach was in effect a part-timer this past year since he was also the OC. I'm not saying Loeffler shouldn't go - the new HC and OC should pick their own staff, I'm just saying that it's possible that Loeffler was given a task here that due to circumstances beyond his control may have been nigh impossible to do well. --- On Mon, 12/13/10, Woody gatorrr...@gmail.com wrote: Question? He may be a crummy QB coach, but he also may have had the positive things he accomplished wiped out by the tidal wave of mismanagement of the offense. The only negative I've heard about Mariotti is that a lot of our guys seemed to get injured often. Whether this has anything to do with SC coach I can't say. Some have speculated that it does. I have a friend that is a professor at UF that has some involvement in the athletic department and she has a very negative impression of Loeffler - to the point that she was shocked that he was even hired to the staff in the first place. She also predicted that this season wasn't going to be the faiiry tale ending for Brantley that most of us hoped for. I will go out on a limb and say he will keep Mariotti and Heater... all others may be gone. Any new OC will want his own OL coach and receiver coach that they are comfortable with. Just a guess here, but I'd bet the conversation Muschamp had with Driskell included keeping Scott Loefler, since Loefler, as everyone here knows, was brought in to help Tebow with his mechanics.
