I believe so, Leon. I was the one who ignorantly referred to them as “ladies”
back in the early 90’s and went sideways with Cee and Mary. They tried to
insult
me by calling me a “knuckle dragger”, but I still cherish the title to this
day.

"Ladies?!!!"

How could you, Randy?

That's so insensitive.

How would you like it if someone called you a "gentleman?" You wouldn't like
it at all, would you?

Just remember that the next time you are tempted to use such a degrading and
insulting word.

;-)

It's gotten really bad in Gainesville, too.  There aren't enough police to

Red-light running in Orlando has gotten so bad, it would probably shock you.
The incident that sparked the red-light camera thing a few years ago was the
deaths of two very small girls, sisters, in their strollers, right near my
house, on Goldenrod Road.  Their mother saw the ‘WALK’ sign come on, and she
pushed her two daughters into the intersection.  A young lady on her cell phone
ran the light and killed the two little girls.  That did it.  The Sentinel went
on a crusade.

Like the Sentinel has said over and over:  if you don’t like the idea of a
fine,
don’t run red lights.

Here’s something to make you angrier.  Research shows the intersections with
cameras do not have any appreciable decrease in accidents over time.
While there may be an initial decrease, it goes back to zero over time.

They have just instituted this in Tallahassee and if I could get every
single person to contest their tickets, the courts would be overwhelmed with
traffic cases---hundreds per week in my estimation. Do you think that would
put and end to this craziness. Safety my a$$. The company installs the
equipment and maintains it for FREE. All they get in return is a commission
on the tickets and Florida's rates are the highest in the nation. If you pay
the high fine here of $158, you don't get points on your license. There's a
smaller fine for the same infraction, but you get whacked for 3

Red-light running in Orlando has gotten so bad, it would probably shock you.
The incident that sparked the red-light camera thing a few years ago was the
deaths of two very small girls, sisters, in their strollers, right near my
house, on Goldenrod Road. Their mother saw the 'WALK' sign come on, and she
pushed her two daughters into the intersection. A young lady on her cell
phone ran the light and killed the two little girls. That did it. The
Sentinel went on a crusade.

Like the Sentinel has said over and over: if you don't like the idea of a
fine, don't run red lights.

Here's something to make you angrier. Research shows the intersections with

While there may be an initial decrease, it goes back to zero over time.

I am a little surprised that none of our Miami Gator folk have chimed in.
At least when I lived there, the rule was when the light turned red, the
next three cars could still go. If you were the first or second car and
tried to stop for the light, people would call you and tourista and you
would be rear-ended. I suspect that some of the problem in Orlando might
have been caused by people moving up from Miami.

Did I mention Go Gators!!!

That said, isn't it nice that an extra $28 keeps you from getting points
on your license. Please tell me how that makes an intersection safer.
Please!! I want to belief in altruism. Well, sort ofexcept the part
that destroys everything we try to create for the supposed "greater

Agreed. If you don't like it dont break the law. In dc the speed cameras
slow down traffic significantly. Driving or riding in a car is one of the
most dangerous activities one can engage in. We need to increase safety.

2010-08-10 Thread John Bowers
Red-light running in Orlando has gotten so bad, it would probably shock you.
The incident that sparked the red-light camera thing a few years ago was the
deaths of two very small girls, sisters, in their strollers, right near my
house, on Goldenrod Road. Their mother saw the 'WALK' sign come on, and she
pushed her two daughters into the intersection. A young lady on her cell
phone ran the light and killed the two little girls. That did it. The
Sentinel went on a crusade.

Like the Sentinel has said over and over: if you don't like the idea of a
fine, don't run red lights.

They have just instituted this in Tallahassee and if I could get every
single person to contest their tickets, the courts would be overwhelmed
with traffic cases---hundreds per week in my estimation. Do you think
that would put and end to this craziness. Safety my a$$. The company
installs the equipment and maintains it for FREE. All they get in return
is a commission on the tickets and Florida's rates are the highest in
the nation. If you pay the high fine here of $158, you don't get points
on your license. There's a smaller fine for the same infraction, but you
get whacked for 3 points.Awe, does anyone see discrimination here.
Oddly enough, here the first 2 were set up in primarily "white
collar"/upper class corridorswhere people can afford the finesor
are these the most dangerous intersections in town? You know the
answer. Color it any way you want. This is strictly a how can we
generate more tax revenues project---period, end of sentence. I know
there can be quite a legal argument and there have already been many. It
just walks and sounds too much like a duck to be anything else.

Go Gators!

Yeah...I'm really PO'd!
