Doe started showboating in the field of play and led to a fumble that,

Showboating after the play is a mild ire. In some cases, such as Michael

Showboating during the play - an act that could lead to a costly turnover, is
the epitome of what is bad about a "me first" attitude in team sports. It's
also dumb. At the very least, I like to take solace in the assumption that our
players are smarter and better coached than the other team's players.

Anger? What anger? I was NEVER "angry". I'm was just concerned that his
showboating ALMOST cost us the TD. Kicking or throwing the ball in the
stands certainly deserves a penalty, but they wouldn't call a TD back for
it. As far as getting over it, I'm already past it. Meyer is the coach and
he knows best.

I do not like thuggish behavior either. However, the part that made me upset
was that he risked the security of the ball in the process. Behavior that
results in fumbles, costly penalties, overturned TDs, etc. is the problem. I am
happy to let Meyer decide how to handle it.

Yes, Dustin Doe did a bad thing. But, I have to wonder why all this anger
about it.

Are we really as bad as Miami because Doe took two steps in a "showboating"
style?

Have we really become the manifestation of evil because of it?

Where was all this anger last season when Brandon Spikes kicked the ball
into the stands? Or, where was it a couple of years ago when Travis McGriff
threw the ball in the stands.

Doe made a boo boo. So, let's get over it. I would remind everyone that
was the first defensive touchdown of the year. Leon, you were there, didn't
you get sick of the cowbells? Well, the whole team was. Urban Meyer even
mentioned it later in some post-game interview.

Have we forgotten this was the first time the Gators have won in Starkeville
since 1985? Wasn't that the Charlie Pell era?

Randy, I'm not just trying to pick on you here, but your email seemed like a
good place to bring it up.

No, we don't need to have any repeats of it. But, yes, Urban Meyer will
deal with it. Let's all get over it and congratulate the kid, after he does
his stadium steps, of course...

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that it was fumble directly related
to Doe's "showboating". I believed it when I saw it live, I believed it
when I saw the replay live, and I believe it now. For whatever reason you
want to lay blame, IMMHO, the refs blew the call. I am grateful to the
football gods for allowing the Gators this good fortune. I believe Doe's
antics are indeed reminders of SCUM teams of the past and it makes my skin

I do not like thuggish behavior either. However, the part that made me upset
was that he risked the security of the ball in the process. Behavior that
results in fumbles, costly penalties, overturned TDs, etc. is the problem. I
am happy to let Meyer decide how to handle it.

I was actually out of town until the last quarter. I was too disappointed
with the end of the game that I just erased the whole thing. I was thankful
that we and Alabama won.

I want to take exception to what Dan Mullen is complaining about here. I
thought the call was close. I saw the replays and on one of the angles it
looked like he was stripped of the ball before the ball "broke the plane" of
the goal line. However, none of the angles were definitive. The official
on the field looked to be perfectly placed on the field to make the call. I
don't think the video evidence was definitive. I find it hard to argue that
both officials were "clearly" in error.

Unfortunately, I erased the game so I cannot revisit the replays. I do
remember that the network tried to make it out as a poor call by using some
sort of a composite image, but they could not account for the angle of the
camera. In horseracing, the camera is placed exactly on the finish line.
The cameras were not on the goal line on Saturday. Do any of you that still
have the game recorded think that he was clearly stripped of the ball before
breaking the plane?

SEC officials blasted again after another controversial call benefits
Florida Gators

BY JOSEPH GOODMAN

The Florida Gators have been struggling in the red zone, but that doesn't
mean the team, ranked No. 1 in the country again, can't catch a break near
the goal line.

For the second week in a row, the Gators find themselves in the middle of an
officiating controversy after again coming out on the favorable side of a
judgment call by a Southeastern Conference official that led to a UF score.

On Sunday, Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen, UF's former offensive
coordinator, lashed out at SEC officiating after what he believed was an
incorrect call that resulted in a fourth-quarter touchdown for the Gators
during Saturday's 29-19 victory in Starkville, Miss.

On Saturday night at Scott Field, Florida led Mississippi State 22-13 with
less than nine minutes to play when UF linebacker Dustin Doe intercepted a
deflected a pass and returned it for a touchdown. Doe, who began celebrating
before he reached the end zone, was stripped at the goal line by Bulldogs
receiver Brandon McRae. McRae recovered the ball in the end zone after a
line judge signaled a Florida touchdown.

After a lengthy review, an SEC replay official upheld the touchdown. Mullen
said he spent early Sunday morning reviewing the play and determined, in his
opinion, that the replay official missed the call.

``There's no excuse for a guy who has the amount of time to replay the video
to make sure they get the call right,'' Mullen said. ``That's why we have
instant replay, and I think it's embarrassing that they blew that call. I've
seen still shots of the ball out of [Doe's] hand. I don't think that's
acceptable on a [replay] guy that has the ability to watch all the different
angles.''
