There was a thread on GatorCountry asking if people thought our defense
would hold our opponents to under 130 points against us for the regular
season. I would like to have a Gatornet contest this year predicting the
points against us for the season. The winner is the one closest to the
correct number.

I will start. I predict 100. (The 2006 and 2008 teams allowed in the
180s.)

2009-07-21 Thread keith

Yes - I'll take 120 for regular season - thanks for clarifying.

For so many games I want only 3 and out, and zero points.  But if we are doing that good - sooner or later the second and third string players will come in and some points will be scored.

LSU, Georgia, and South Carolina will probably score some points.  Arkansas maybe.  Tenn and FSU - we will be so fired up - and they are so down - it will be difficult for them to score against our first string defense.  The rest should be shutouts if it wasn't for 2nd and 3rd teamers.

I think our defense could be the best defense in UF history.  But its very difficult to hold teams to zero points - especially with all the substitutions that we will see.

I think the goal for the defense this year will be to hold teams to 10points or less - times 14 games = 140 points. Since there is the "less than10 points per game" they figured 130 points would be a good number to pick. But I will go with 140 points. That is about a 30% improvement over analready great defense last year - and everyone will be bringing their bestgame for us this year as not only the repeating national champs - but thefavorites to win it again. We also should do a prediction of the Tenn score.
