g_b Drew Barrymore protests gay marriage ban

Actress Drew Barrymore along with singer Kelly Osbourne and other celebrities
rallied here to protest against the new California ban on gay marriage.
The celebrities joined thousands of activists to protest about the
re-instatement of Proposal 8, which bans same-sex marriages after they were
legalised briefly last year. Star Trek actor George Takei, Kelly Osbourne,
Sophia Bush, comedienne Kathy Griffin and singer/actress Deborah Gibson are
among other celebrities who have criticised California's approval of the ban.

"I was raised a good Catholic girl and nowhere in church do I remember it ever
being an issue for everybody to be treated equally. I can't believe it's 2009
and this is still an issue," the Daily Express quoted Gibson as saying.

Osbourne added, "It goes without saying that if you love someone, you should be
able to marry them no matter."

Where did you get these statistics from?  They seem to be at variance with
other studies that have shown that 10% of the male population is homosexual.
Would you please disclose your sources?
Thanks,
Asfan.

Friends,

In any society about 2-3 per cent people take birth as homosexuals and about
7-8 per cent as bisexuals. India, thus, with an estimated population of 1..1
billion people has about 8 crore (80 million) bisexuals. Half of these are men
and half women.

With street plays, bands, Delhi to celebrate gay pride

Updated: 05-27-2009

New Delhi, May 27 Street plays, a full fledged wedding band and even a float.
After a successful and colourful gay pride march last year, the first of its
kind to be held in Delhi, the capital is gearing up for its second edition June
28. The organisers say it will be even more exciting this year.

Enthused by the overwhelming response at last year's march, Mohnish Malhotra,
one of the organisers, said they are planning to add a whole lot of new
features this time to the march, which will see gays, lesbians, transgenders
and bisexuals joining in.

'Last year we had the rainbow coloured flags and beating of drums in the pride.
This time we plan to have a street play at the end of the march, probably a
wedding band playing music as people march and even a float, if we get the
necessary permission from the police,' Malhotra told IANS.

'We are still working out the logistics, but we definitely want to add
different elements to the pride this year,' he added.

According to Malhotra, a similar pride will take place June 28 in Kolkata and
in Sri Lanka.

'Kolkata has the gay pride every year, and this year they will have it on June
28 like Delhi. Mumbai and Bangalore will also have the march like last year but
probably not on the same date. Chennai may have its first pride this year,'
Malhotra said.

Poolli Avasu, another organiser, said: 'The queer pride marches are an effort
for queer people in these cities to occupy public space and remake them into
one that knows we exist and that accepts us for who we are.'

In a nation where homosexuality is a crime under Section 377 of the Indian
Penal Code, many were surprised by the huge turnout in the pride last year that
took place June 29.

While its organisers had not expected more than 150 people, over 500
participated in the march.

Like last year, this time too the pride will start at 5.30 p.m. near Barakhamba
Road, going up Tolstoy Marg.

The history behind the 'Queer Pride' goes back to June 28, 1969, when armed
squads of the New York Police Department (NYPD) raided the Stonewall Inn, an
obscure pub in Greenwich village in New York, that was a regular watering hole
of gays.

Several people were bundled into waiting vans. The gay groups at the bar
protested and the outcry against the arrests led to full-scale riots and arson
that lasted five days.

Since then, every year the week leading up to June 29 is remembered by sexual
minorities and those with alternative sexual leanings across the world as the
'Rainbow Pride Week'.

Gay activists hail censor board decision

Soumyadipta Banerjee / DNA

Gay rights activists in the city have welcomed the censor board's decision to
pass a scene of a lip-lock between two men.

"Though there have been fleeting pecks on the cheek among men in films, I am
happy that the censors have decided to pass this scene without a cut. I am
waiting for the day when we will have a Bollywood film in which a rich guy
marries a poor guy and we have the parents protesting against it, not because
they are both men but because one of them is rich and the other poor," said
Harish Iyyer, a gay rights activist who creates awareness about the issue on
social networking sites like Facebook.

In actor Celina Jaitley's view, this decision should have come long ago. "I go
through my website everyday and get depressed about the number of hate mails I
have get for supporting gay rights. These are decisions that bring a smile,"
said the actor.

According to Celina, it is high time that Bollywood decides to stop making fun
of gays on screen. "One must understand that every man has the right to make
love to a man the same way two consenting adults can. I feel bad when gays are
made fun of in Bollywood movies and their mannerisms become the butt of all
jokes. We have seen entire movies being created around such stereotyping. This
is sad and we need to understand that it's a matter of right for a few people
and by making fun of them we are, in a way, making fun of ourselves," Celina
added.

Vikram Doctor, one of the organisers of Gay Bombay, an meeting group, said, "It
is not taboo anymore. Lip-locks between men have become commonplace in
Hollywood. We are only waking up now."

g_b A matrimonial site for bisexuals (for M2W, M2M, W2W marriages)

2009-05-28 Thread Prashant

Friends,

After launching "Matrimonials for Same-sex
Marriages" ( http://users1.jabry.com/pg211/intro.html ) this is my next venture.

In any society about 2-3 per cent people take birth as homosexuals and about
7-8 per cent as bisexuals. India, thus, with an estimated population of 1..1
billion people has about 8 crore (80 million) bisexuals. Half of these are men
and half women.

Presently most of these 8 crore Indian bisexuals are married with heterosexual
persons. A marriage between a bisexual and a heterosexual is not a healthy
marriage since in such a marriage, the bisexual partner always remains in the
closet and normally cheats his or her married partner. A bisexual man,
therefore, should marry a bisexual woman and not a heterosexual woman and vice
versa.

What, if you are a bisexual but you are more easily attracted to a same-sex
person rather than the opposite? In this case, we advise that you marry a
person who is similar to you, that is, one who is a bisexual but who also has
more interest in a same-sex person in comparison to the opposite-sex. As an
example, if you are a bisexual man having more interest in men than in women,
then you should marry with a bisexual man who also has more interest in men.
You should not marry a pure homosexual man.

I have made a web-site "Matrimonials for Bisexuals".

With the help of this site bisexual people of India or of one of India's
neighbouring countries, i.e., Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal,
Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tibet or Myanmar(Burma) will be able to find a bisexual
partner for themselves. Bisexual
people of any other country who wants to have an Indian as their life partner
can also use this site to find a bisexual partner for themselves.

The web-address of the site is http://users1.jabry.com/pg211/bi/index.asp

Kindly give the site as much publicity as possible. Suggestions and comments
are solicited and welcome.

Note - A complete solution of bisexuality lies in developing communes of two
bisexual men and two bisexual women (a commune is a body of people or families
living together and sharing everything). The government should register such
communes and recognize them as a family just like it recognizes a muslim man
living with his four wives as a single family. However, this is not possible
today. But two bisexual couples can develop intimate friendship with each
other. This will act as a commune.

We are ready to develop another web-site meant for searching bisexual couples
who want to develop such friendship. However, the demand should come from
Indian bisexual community. Please write if you think that such a web-site will
be useful.

Please also send your views on the issue. You may be having a better way to
solve this problem.
