Isn't it sad that instead of spending crores of rupees over beautifying
the land they call their own, the powers-that-be are squandering our
hard earned money on changing nameplates and building statues?

Bombay name was not given by the British but by the Postugesse.
Bom means good and bay as in natural harbour.

when these people don't want to use the names which were given

want to use those laws made by them.even in great Britain they
abolished these laws and gave GLBT people equal rights.i really feel
like go and shoot all these bastards. --- On Sat, 3/13/10, Deep

Â
This religious cult bans abortions
and birth
control as well as same-sex relations. They belong to an era when
unchecked increase in population meant more members of that cult.
With
1.1 billion people in India already, can we afford to add more?
I guess, masturbation is considered to be a sin by this group as
well.
Makes one wonder, are we marching forward into the 22nd century or
blundering about in the middle ages?

Deep

Mizo church may ban homosexuals Sangzuala Hmar | TNN Aizawl:
While the Indian state has remarkably softened its stand on gays,
the
church in Mizoram has kicked off a controversy by threatening to act
against homosexuality. On Saturday, the Baptist Church of
Mizoram (BCM) said it would take strong punitive action'',
including
exc o m m u n i c at i o n , against homosexuals in the flock. Â
   The
highest assembly of the BCM, the second most powerful church body in
Mizoram after the Presbyterian Church, has effectively ruled that
homosexuality should be outlawed, church leaders said here. Over 900
Baptist church leaders attended the meeting held at BCM Bazaar
Church
at Lawngtlai in South Mizoram, about 300 km from Aizwal. Â Â
  According
to the BCM guidelines, same-sex relationships, abortions and birth
control are strictly prohibited in Mizoram. The BCM, however, is not
against medical termination of pregnancy when the life of a woman is
in danger. Â Â Â Â The
controversy surrounding the church and homosexuality had begun in
Mizoram last July after the Delhi HC struck down Section 377 of the
IPC, which criminalised consensual gay sex among adults. The court
had
then observed that the section violated fundamental rights of life
and liberty and the right to equality as enshrined in the Constitution.
    Immediately
after the order, Mizo church leaders came out in open opposition. An
umbrella church organization of the state, the Mizoram Kohhran
Hruaitute Committee (MKHC), appealed to law minister Veerappa Moily
to
look into the matter and uphold Section 377. MKHC comprises all
major
churches in the N-E state. The Mizoram Presbyterian Church sent a
letter to Moily, requesting him to up hold
Section 377. In Mizoram, homosexuals and transvestites were banned
in
1909 by the then British administration. Churches and social
organizations still believe that the 1909 ban should be made
applicable
in the state.
