Dear Karna Mehta,

Let me reply to each point you raised 1 by 1:

"You confirm by this mail that you are 100% INSENSITIVE"
=> Yes, glad you recognize facts at last. no apologies, I am not asking you to
love me. I am not here to win a popularity contest or a beauty pageant. So I
will say it as I see it. You may take it or leave it or scream about it. The
freedom is yours and it is mine. They may just flow in divergent directions.

"You may not like him or his ways / teachings / philosophy /
political solutions.."
=> Again you are completely right. I think he is a megalomaniac, scheming,
political scumbag, who totes his brand of morality over my freedom to enjoy my
fundamental rights as given in the constitution. He does it by peddling an
unscientific pseudo-moralistic gab and tries to justify a greater hold over my
destiny because of his supposed superior moral pretensions. If he thinks he has
the right to say that my being gay makes me a lesser human being, I have every
right to say that he is a hate-mongering fascist and should be opposed all the
way with every resource one has. As long as he totes his yoga to the gullible,
I
am fine with it. But if he thinks his being a yoga teacher gives him the right
to interfere with my life, he will be opposed. And if he does (which he now
has)
enters politics, then he is fair game, it is not a moral/religious/and
all-that-holier-than-thou-gab anymore...it is a political opposition coming
from
a rational scientific political viewpoint to an irrational, unscientific and
essentially hate-peddling right-wing fascist political tout. There you go.
Thats
what I think of Spamdev.

"What makes you think that you have the right to go out of the way and show
your pathetic talent in poetry..or whatever it is. and your
disrespect"
=> I do not think this. I know. Under Article 19 of the Indian Constitution I
have that right. It is a fundamental right. Even the parliament cannot take it
away from me by making a law. It is called the freedom of expression. Go figure.

"You seem to think that there is only one opinion.yoursand any
deviation from that opinion seems to bug you no end end."
=> What I seem to think may not be what I actually think. its your imagination
about me, well covered by your right to have an opinion/imagination. I do not
need to say anything about it. Please continue to think whatever you want to
think. All the best...

"grow upstop behaving like a BRAT..remember it takes all kinds of
people to make this beautiful world...you are only one of the kind there
are many other kinds."
=> Thank you twice over. First for the advice to grow up and stop being a brat.
Second, for recognising that I am one of the beautiful people among others. Now
as to the advice, I will choose to ignore it. My privilege. I will be a brat if
I want to be a brat. And I will not grow up if I do not want to grow up. Tough
shit...

"And many have brains.dont think that GOD has only given you
brains.and others are morons"
=> Certainly many have brains, no contest on that. As to what I should or
should
not think is my privilege, so thanks again for the advice, but I shall chose to
ignore it. I will think what I want to think. As to whether others are morons,
again, much like you have the right to think what you will about me, and I have
the right to think what I will about the Spamdev, I also have the right to
think
someone is a moron, and if I do that there is precious little you or anyone
else
can do about it. It works like this - if you are a genius, but I feel that you
are an idiot, for all intents and purpose you are an idiot as far as I am
concerned. Again kind of tough shit...

2011-05-31 Thread Deep
Karna Mehta,
how many times did you participate on TV talk shows and proclaim the
paramount importance of reading down 377? Were you part of the teams
which picketed TV9 offices in some metros? Did you manage to make TV9
pay for their vituperative show? Perhaps you and your organization is
fighting 377 in the SC right now against the very Baba who you so
vociferously support from the comfort of your arm-chair. Perhaps you
have read (and understood) the petition filed by Baba Ramdev and his
sycophants against homosexuals. I am sure you are a master of the art
and craft of Yoga Sutra, as created by Patanjali, having been trained at
Ramdev's schools. Ramdev has the copyright on Yoga, right Karna? There
are, ofcourse, no other Yoga teachers and spiritual gurus in India other
than Baba Ramdev, right? And Patanjali wrote massive tomes on how to
"cure" homosexuals through Yoga and Ayurveda, right Karna? I am sure
Ramdev has a PhD on those tomes.

Karna you may want to click on the following link:
http://www.mumbaimirror.com/index.aspx?page=article§id=2&contentid=2\
011051720110517030536290ca2de64d

This news report shows the beneficial effects of Baba Ramdev's amla
powder given to 39-year-old woman. I am sure she must have been a
lesbian (and therefore "sick" according to Ramdev jee) because her food
pipe was completely blocked. Coincidentally I have visited some of those
"pharmacies" of Baba Ramdev in the suburbs of Mumbai. Here "Senior
Pharmacists" certified by Ramdev's schools have little knowledge of the
side effects of Chavanprash if administered to diabetics.
Karna here's another piece of good news. Ramdev's security guards know
whom to exterminate. Here's the report that will please you:
http://www.deccanherald.com/content/137409/yoga-guru-ramdevs-security-ve\
hicle.html

I am sure the security personnel of Ramdev jee identified the two as
being from the vile homosexual community. Right Karna?
Karna you are doing so much for the LGBT community - far more than
Aditya Bondyopadhyay and his team - that I salute you. Incidentally I
don't seem to have seen the name of you or your organization on the Net,
could you enlighten me please?
Yours humbly,Deephttp://gaynotes.blogspot.com

g_b Look Ma, no pants! - Nudity is the newest nadir in the reality television world, with participants happily willing to drop it all

2011-05-31 Thread Tintin Mumbai India
Look Ma, no pants!
---
Nudity is the newest nadir in the reality television world, with
participants happily willing to drop it all

The stage is set, the rock band is ready, a bespectacled middle-aged man
wielding a paintbrush is waiting at an easel and the audience of roughly
3,000 Brazilian men and women is clamouring with impatience. Finally, Mohit
Saggar, a 20-year-old MTV Roadies contestant from Ludhiana, emerges from the
wings. He seems different today, no smug stares or cocky one-liners. He
looks around vacantly, closes his eyes and pulls the string of his white
bathrobe. The audience erupts with hoots, laughter and applause as cameras
frantically zoom in and out. And for ten long minutes, the artist renders a
sketchy version of Saggar’s vital statistics.
Nudity is the newest nadir in the reality television world. Your manhood
is now the measure of how far you are willing to go on a reality show.
Beeped out words and lip locks are passé. The new TRP-ensuring mantra is to
go below the belt, literally. Pixelated vital organs, Brazilian waxing,
spanking and licking chilli sauce off skimpily-clad women — all are part of
the territory.
“Izzat koi certificate nahi, jo mathe pe laga do,” says Saggar on the
show. “My mind was going blank that time. But I said, ‘to hell with it,
let’s go through with this’.”
And he did. Like several other reality show contestants who will do
whatever it takes to shock and stay in the game. If Saggar and his
co-contestant Suchit Vikram Singh from Haryana went through with the full
monty for national television, Rishi Oberoi from Chandigarh stripped and
pole danced to impress his blind date’s mother on Channel V’s Date My Folks.
Oberoi, the self-proclaimed “playboy of Chandigarh”, invited a shaken Aunty
Kaur to his bedroom, complete with dim lighting and rose petals strewn on
the bed. He gifted her an ‘innocent’ hamper with handcuffs, an animal print
thong, a leash, chocolate body paint and other aphrodisiacal trivia. “Yeh
sab theek nahi laga, beta” mumbled poor Aunty Kaur, as Oberoi whipped out
his shirt, hung a feathery pink boa around his neck, splattered chocolate
sauce and started moving to ‘Zara Zara Touch Me’.
Other reality shows that indeed got touchy include one in which male
contestants were caught with their pants down and getting a “Brazlian wax”
for every answer their partner got wrong and a twisted word builder episode
on Roadies. On the last show, semi-naked women, wearing only bikini tops,
are smothered in chillies. Female contestants are expected to lick the
chilli paste off and find alphabets while a male contestant has to perform
the same task on a man whose body hides vowels under chilli paste.
“Reality TV is not only getting bolder but it is also getting more real,”
says VJ Andy, who hosts Channel V’s Dare to Date and Date My Folks. “The
immunity that the audience has for all the craziness that goes on is great.
The bolder you get, the more the audience wants.”
Though, on the one hand, the boldness is helping shatter stereotypes of
India being a nation of cowherds and farmers, Andy says the Indian in him
feels a bit disillusioned with situations like the bedroom pole dancing
episode. “In fact, I asked the contestant if he was sure he wanted to go
ahead,” recalls Andy, likening the content of reality shows today to that of
the terror attacks. “Some images were just shocking.”
According to Keith Alphonso, business head of UTV Bindass that airs
Emotional Atyaachar, the channel would prefer that the show be either loved
or hated strongly rather than be ignored. “The language you hear in a coffee
shop nowadays is more shocking than what you hear on a reality shows.
However, had we done this ten years ago, we don't know if we would've been
received well,” he says.
We’re still not sure how well it’s being received. “It was embarrassing
to be caught watching this,” says Nitya Chaudhary, a twenty-something
college student. “I still can’t believe these men went naked on TV. I had to
change the channel because my grandparents were in the same room,” she adds.

Prem Kamath, executive vice president of Channel V, says the idea is not
to consciously create shock value but to merely create variations in show
formats.
“Even on shows like Axe aur Ex (where pranks are conducted on ex
boyfriends/girlfriends), the channel needs a signed affidavit from both
parties. The tone of the shows is in jest and roughly 25% of what we shoot
isn’t aired because permission from the person who the prank has been played
doesn’t come through,” he says .
Channel V, adds Kamath, strictly follows guidelines laid out by the
Information and Broadcasting ministry on offensive or objectionable content
and has an internal standards and practice department which filters every
show before it goes on air. “We have a responsibility towards our viewer and
while being wacky is okay, there are some things we will never do as a
channel.”

g_b I AM wins big at KASHISH 2011

2011-05-31 Thread shhibs
Bollywood director Onir's `I AM' won the award for the Best Narrative Feature
at the 2nd KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival. The closing
ceremony of India's biggest queer event was held at Cinemax-Versova, Andheri
(West) on Sunday evening.

Accepting the award, Onir said, ``Thank you KASHISH, this is a very special
award for three reasons. This is the first time I am getting an award in
Mumbai. Secondly, I am happy to receive this award from Sai-ji with whom I
started my career and lastly my lovely cast is here to support me."

Juhi Chawla said, "It is lovely to be here. I wish KASHISH goes from strength
to strength and scale to scale."

Rahul Bose who had been to the festival last year for the premiere of the
film's trailer, recalled the way the festival had started. ``The festival and
me are on the margins, but when we have to be creative, it allows us to be more
freer,'' said Rahul Bose.

Sanjay Suri, who acts in the film and is also a producer thanked Kashish and
the jury for selecting the film. ``The film wouldn't have been possible without
the contribution of 400 persons from across the world who send in money to
finance the film. This award is dedicated those people.''

Jury Chairperson Sai Paranjpye said the decision to award I AM was
``unanimous''. The film was awarded for its ``truly kaleidoscopic vision of the
human condition. The film narrates four diverse stories, which deal with a
spectrum of topics including same-gender relationships. The quartet is a
marvellous portrait of contemporary social concerns, in sum their impact being
bold as well as beautiful,'' she said while reading the citation.

Another ``I AM'' won the special jury award at KASHISH. This was Sonal Gulati's
docufeature. The jury gave ``whole-hearted thumbs up for the film's bold and
frank accounts of young gay men and women dealing with family prejudices as
well as understanding.''

The Best Documentary Feature award went to David Weissman's ``We Were Here''
from the USA. The jury was won over by its ``in-depth realization - through
personalized interviews and incisive reportage – of a heart wrenching chapter
of history – the advent of AIDS in San Francisco of the 1970s-80s.''

The Best Documentary Short Film award was won by Bill Brummel and Geoffrey
Sharp from USA for their film Bullied ``for a stark and disturbing trials and
tribulations of a gay student facing ongoing torture and relentless bullying of
his peers, to which school authorities seem to turn a blind eye to. His
eventual triumph makes the film inspiring and edifying.''

The Best International Narrative Short Film was awarded to ``Let The World Know
About Me'' by Marianna Giordano from Argentina `` for the film's inventive
blend of the musical idiom with a purposeful point to make, vis-à-vis the
stepping out by a girl… from the by-now claustrophobic closet.

The Best Indian Narrative Short Film award was won by Amen, for its directors
Ranadeep Bhattacharya and Judhajit Bagchi. The film won the award for ``the
sensitive depiction of the little known aspect of same gender dating through
websites; the film's assertive conclusion, credible performances, and technical
assurance.'' As the winner, KASHISH will nominate `Amen' for the Iris Prize in
UK, which carries a cash prize of 25,000 pounds.

The first RIYAD WADIA AWARD FOR BEST EMERGING INDIAN FILMMAKER was won by
Shumona Banerjee for ``the whimsical, witty and yet so wise'' `Kusum – The
Flower Bud, about a spunky transvestite's bond with an eccentric professor. The
award, which carries a cash prize of Rs 10,000 was instituted by the Wadia
family, in memory of pioneering film maker Riyad Wadia, who made India's first
gay film ``BOMGay''.

Another first at KASHISH was the KASHISH COFFEE BREAK AUDIENCE AWARD where 10
films were hosted online and voted by a global audience. The winner, decided by
online votes was ``NOTHING HAPPENED by JULIA KOTS from USA.

The jury headed by noted filmmaker Sai Paranjpye, comprised film critic and
filmmaker Khalid Mohamad, actress Shernaz Patel, actor Samir Soni and
Indonesian film curator John Badalu.

``When we started Kashish last year, we never ever dreamt that it would grow to
such a huge scale in just its second year. The number of people, the number of
shows, the number of visiting filmmakers have been fantastic. KASHISH is as
much about awareness and advocacy, as it is about entertainment and glamour,''
said Festival Director Sridhar Rangayan, adding, ``KASHISH 2011 rocked.''

``The second edition of KASHISH ends on an extremely motivating note, as
despite having a much bigger theatre, there were house full shows, reflecting
the thirst of the audiences for queer themed films. Next, year we will be back,
bigger and bolder,'' said Festival Director Vivek Anand.

Kashish 2011 that focuses on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender films was
announced by Celina Jaitley, KASHISH's Festival Ambassador and Shyam Beneg
