Here's Joe Knudson's apology. I agree with you completely Aditya B.,
there's a lot of work that you, and others like you, have put in to make
our case all the way upto the SC.

It was not meant that way at all and the committee sincerely apologies.
We realize the strides that have been made in various countries and most
everything that goes out goes through our publicist and I agree his
choice of wording on some things should be changed from country to
country. His wording may fit certain countries, but this particular
wording definitely does not fit India and I personally know that and I
should not have sent it worded as the publicist has worded certain other
messages to other countries. On behalf of the committee and myself, we
do apologize for that condescending tone as it definitely wasn't the
intent and there is no excuse to use the same wording for all countries
of a certain region of the world, as many have made tremendous strides
within their own country and we know India has done just that. We just
want the inclusion of India so that global media and publicity for the
event will help drive all of our mutual points across to both societies
and governments alike. The international committee definitely has
respect for every individual in every country for what they have done in
this area and we will work much harder on proving that to them from this
point forward!

Sincerely,

Joe Knudson, International Committee Chairmain for the 2012 Worldwide
LGBT Civil Rights March

All of it is right and good, and I agree that there is a good need and
reason for India to participate. I'm sure we will.

What I resent is the way the writer of this mail has condesendingly
stated that this event will be the 'starting point for LGBT Civil
Rights' in India. In one fell swoop he has negated the strides that
India has made in the area of civil rights for LGBT, as well as
rubbish the hard work that countless individuals have put in to make
those strides possible.

An international event like this cannot be based on condesension of
the global north coming in with their snooty belief that they will
make it better for us, while ignoring our own work and efforts. In
other words, its bound to be a bad start if it is not based on mutual
respect.

I hope the organisers will be aware of these sensibilities before they
start roping in most of Asia and Africa to this effort.

Best regards,
Aditya Bondyopadhyay

2011-11-18 Thread Tintin Mumbai India
Hi Guys,
Past two days, I was thinking writing this mail...
For past two days I am attending a training, and tomorrow too I have to
attend the same training, under same trainer.
And this guy (trainer) speaks english with an ascent.
He mixes sounds of SH and S...
And besides many of such mistakes, he also pronounce good as gud...

Everytime he says "This is a good approach, and that is not a good
approach..." I actually hear, "This is a gud approach and that is not a gud
approach.."

So, now I am so much influenced by him, just in two days, that...
I started thinking, if
ALL THE GOOD GUYS ARE GUD GUYS???
and
THE NOT GOOD GUYS ARE NOT ACTUALLY GUD GUYS???
