g_b Vikram Seth: Through Love's Great Power

2014-01-29 Thread Vikram D
Vikram Seth has just written a poem that is perhaps the most powerful, moving
and fitting response to both the Supreme Court's decision to recriminalise
LGBTQ people, and its refusal yesterday to reconsider this. The last line says
as much as longer articles and op/ed pieces would. He has specifically asked us
to send out this poem as widely as possible, so please do so:

Through Love’s Great Power

Through
love’s great power to be made whole
In
mind and body, heart and soul –
Through
freedom to find joy, or be
By
dint of joy itself set free
In
love and in companionhood:
This
is the true and natural good.

To
undo justice, and to seek
To
quash the rights that guard the weak –
To
sneer at love, and wrench apart
The
bonds of body, mind and heart
With
specious reason and no rhyme:
This
is the true unnatural crime.

g_b supreme court judgement on sec.377

2014-01-29 Thread pest quest
--
 dear all,
though this judgement is being cited as a regressive step, in the long term, i
feel it will be a blessing in disguise. what has the supreme court done -- it
has just INTERPRETED THE LAW AS FRAMED BY OUR POLITICIANS.
the only solution is to change this outdated & draconian section & now with the
ball lying in the court of the politicians, we all have to put in our might to
make them understand that this law HAS TO BE CHANGED. we should NOT VOTE FOR
THE PARTY WHICH IS OPPOSED TO THIS CHANGE.
