Tired of too many emails from this group?

Hi All

I know that this group has been generating too many emails. Many
subscribers are flustered at the number of mails. Some of you might
be thinking of leaving the group because you do not like your mail
box to be clogged with mails.

But just in case you do not know, you have the option of receiving
all your emails in a digest mode or you can opt for no email mode.

That way, you can see what's new on the website and still keep a
clear mailbox. You will never receive mail from us if you do that.
YOU choose when to visit us ... and you can check out what you like
and can skip over what doesn't interest you.

(Or choose Daily digest ... once or twice a day, you will receive
an email -- text only -- listing all new postings ... just click on
the messages link at the top of the digest to go to the web
archive to see any attachments.)

How ?

Depending on what you opt for, you can send mail to:

Digest Mode:- gay_bombay-dig...@yahoogroups.com

No Mail Mode:- gay_bombay-nom...@yahoogroups.com

Regards

modera...@gaybombay.in

 Hi All

Indeed.

 Many
subscribers are flustered at the number of mails. Some of you might
be thinking of leaving the group because you do not like your mail
box to be clogged with mails.

Right.

But just in case you do not know, you have the option of receiving
all your emails in a digest mode or you can opt for no email mode.

Not a good option. Individually received mails get segregated into their
threads and are much easier to browse.

I think we have to bear with the high volume traffic, as long as the
mails are genuine, and offerring good content relevant to gay life and
issues.

The problem comes when general content is posted which is not directly
relevant to gay issues. Such content can be found in 1000s of the lists
and ngs, and sometimes we get frustrated on receiving such things in
this ng, which I feel should be gay-specific.

OK. Someone can argue that gays are having general life also and can
post and read general pics, jokes, songs, movies, etc. But, I think that
the keyword is gay. I really feel that gay groups should have
gay-specific topics only, and general content should be avoided in that.

Then, the second irritating thing is crossposting. Even when issues are
gay-speicfic, some members habitually cross-post the very same mail to 2
or 3 or more gay lists, thus, if we are members of several list we get
the same gay content through all of them.

Ultimately, it is individual member who can control what he is posting,
and he should think whether his post is relevant and convenient for the
entire group.

I appreciate the moderation of this list, that I hardly ever received
any spam or scan through gay_bombay. Kudos to all of you. Keep it up.

Re: g_b File - Tired of too many mails? filters are another solution

2005-11-21 Thread priyom dey

dear friends,

thank you verymuch Mr.moderator for ur solutioni
also faced the same problem in the begning ..to solve
it i created filters for each group. as a result now
all the different group mails accumulate in respective
foldsers specifically created for them, and my inbox
remains free to receive personal mails. i am
subscribed to 5 groups which highly bombard mails
...but now i do not face any problem

to create a filter go to 'options' from the drop down
menu called mail located at top left corner. then go
to filter create filters for ur grps dont forget
to make the folders first and then go on adding
filters.

regards
