i completely understood what you say. yes ofcourse we want to change things we dont like and definitely we should give it a try. but you had asked why are we gay? so the answer comes because god made us gay. definitely i completely agree that many a times we are not satisfied with what we get and we do really thrive for improvement or change. but a change might not always be possible, somethings cant change. sexual orientation cannot change because its innate, definitely there do exist medical procedures which to an extent momentarily may deviate your sexual orientation but its only temporal and short lived. otherwisetill date its not possible to permanently change a person's sexual orientation..May be in future with advancement in biotechnology and genetics it might very well become possible that all parents will withcomplete confidenceget a straight child only, but only time can answer this question.
had it been like that,itwas amatter of state of mind dominance over your sexual orientation,then by now the problem of homosexuality might have completely been solved and everyone in this world would have becomestraight through some psychological procedure,but it does not happen science definitely can answer most questions ,but not every single one. that is why homosexuals do exist in this world and noone till date has successfullyfound a way to change a persons sexual orientation.
i have seen in oprah winfrey show it was on "parents reaction to the homosexual child" except one father, every single parent said that they love their child irrespective of the sexual orientationwhich they do have or might have in future. its a question of acceptance and we gays or bisexuals feel odd because we are a minority,and especially in india where homosexuals are seen as some curse,india may also in sometime get out of this and accept homosexuals, in the same way it took time to abolish sati-pratha which all intelligent pundits at that time considered as the only path left for a widow, but things have changed and they will again change but what we have to do is wait.
but there is ofcourse much more in life than sex.your sexual orientation can never stop you from reaching where you want. it cannot hinder or thwart your success ,its definitely one of the most important aspect of one's life but not the only prominence.
