GNU Tools Cauldron 2024 (2nd announcement)
Hello, we are pleased to invite you all to the next GNU Tools Cauldron, taking place in Prague, Czech Republic, on September 14-16, 2024. As for the previous instances, we have setup a wiki page for details: https://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/cauldron2024 Like last year, we are having to charge for attendance. It is 2300 CZK before August 20 and 2900 CZK afterwards. The payment gate will open within a week and we will send email to everyone pre-registered. The GNU Toolchain Fund (https://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/GNUToolchainFund) sponsors developer travel to attend the GNU Tools Cauldron. Having developers meet face to face is important and builds connections in our communities. For all details of how to register, and how to submit a proposal for a track session, please see the wiki page. The Cauldron is organized by a group of volunteers. We are keen to add some more people so others can stand down. If you'd like to be part of that organizing committee, please email the same address. This announcement is being sent to the main mailing list of the following groups: GCC, GDB, binutils, CGEN, DejaGnu, newlib and glibc. Please feel free to share with other groups as appropriate. Honza (on behalf of the GNU Tools Cauldron organizing committee).

We are still working out what we will need to charge. Attendance will remain free for community volunteers and others who do not have a commercial backer and we will be providing a small number of travel bursaries for students to attend. During the open session at the of Cauldron in 2023, I offered that Software Freedom Conservancy could offer hosting for a “Cauldron USA” — in conjunction with the annual FOSSY (Free and Open Source Software Yearly) conference that we organize and host in each year in Portland, Oregon, USA. There seemed some interest to that. We're just a few days away from finalizing the date and venue for FOSSY. It's similar to FOSDEM in that we organize and pay for the venue, handle on-site logistics, and provide the usual logistics — and then volunteers need to handle review of talk proposals for the track and be on site to introduce speakers, etc. This would be different dates (it's likely to be in mid-to-late northern hemisphere summer), and in the USA, so it would complement the usual Cauldron. Let me know if any of you are interested in this, and I can put you in touch with the staff at SFC who orgainze FOSSY. Let me know! -- Bradley M.
