F2008 constraint C1002 requires comma between A and F in a format program badfmt implicit none character(40):: fmt = "(AF9.6)" print *,fmt print fmt, 'pi =',4*atan(1.0) end program badfmt cayley[~/ANZIAM] % gfortran badfmt.f90; ./a.out (AF9.6) pi = 3.141593 cayley[~/ANZIAM] % If the second print statement is changed to print "(AF9.6)",'pi =',4*atan(1.0) then the error is correctly diagnosed.
