Build pcb from source, ports has a old version, and the port

Re: gEDA-user: On integrating simulator in gschem

2010-04-03 Thread Werner Hoch
Hi Arnoud and all,

On Samstag, 13. März 2010, Arnaud Gardelein wrote:
The question of integrating into gschem a simulator (namely gnucap)

  this page: http://geda.seul.org/wiki/geda:data_plotting_improvements
Although far from being completed, oscopy support running a netlister
and a simulator, I mean there is a menu option FileRun netlister
and simulate... where you can specify which command to use. It run
both, and then automagically update the loaded signals, recursively
  for the maths-based ones.
Since basic support for updating through DBus is also implemented, I
wrote a small scheme script to integrate it within gschem, like pcb
does. Maybe this could be a first start to what is described here:
 http://geda.seul.org/wiki/geda:circuit_simulation_improvements

I've added a link to oscopy, gsim and dataplot to the wiki:
http://geda.seul.org/wiki/geda:data_plotting_improvements#draft4a_new_plotting_application

The symbols of the gsim and it's output looks promising. Unfortunatly I
can't read the slovakian text.

The example list looks great, too:

Cool, it works. Do you know how to find out who the port maintainers
are? I would also like to bug the PCB port maintainer to get the PCB
   port to work right.
   Thanks,
   Chris

Do you know how to find out who the port maintainers are?

In general...

* check the mail archives

* check the documentation that comes with the port

* ask who is the maintainer? on this list ;-)

If all else fails, try your favorite search engine.

gEDA-user: PCB 2009 snapshot, two bugs

2010-04-03 Thread Stefan Salewski
I am doing some fine tuning of my DSO board...

When inserting some new elements from gsch2pcb by
Load layout data... one old bug is, that sometimes after selecting
name.pcb.new the buffer content is not drawn until you click somewhere
in the PCB window. This bug was mentioned by Kai-Martin long time ago, I
think it occurs when number of elements in buffer is even. Not a serious
bug, but irritating for novices.

The new bug for 2009: When inserting the buffer contents, the visible
grid disappears, in Menu View-EnableVisibleGrid becomes unselected.
Now occurred with one new element (in buffer), yesterday with two or
three new elements. Strange...

This is for Gentoo-Linux AMD64, GTK, PCB version 20091103

Best regards

Stefan Salewski

There seems to be more problems with 2009 snapshot...

I was moving around some elements for some minutes, when grid snapping
died. Saved board and started PCB again, and all is fine now, snapping
works. I will report if this bug occurs again.

gEDA-user: How do you grab something reliably in pcb?

2010-04-03 Thread Jim
I have yet to figure out the secret to this step. When I'm working in
an area that's pretty crowded and I want to move something like the
label on a part, I can't seem to figure out where the sweet spot is.
Much of the time I a) move the part, b) move a trace, c) start to draw a
red box around something, or d) end up with a red x on a part and the
only thing I can do is draw red boxes.

So can someone give me a hint or two?

Thanks,
Jim.
