I don't claim to understand our Unicode printing support, but I do know our intended road-map was to rip it out and replace with cairo printing support. I'm all in favour of committing these patches (if you can confirm they fix the issue without causing breakage for anything else?), so that: a) If we don't get round to cairo printing in 1.8.x, we get your fix b) We have an archive of the "correct" Unicode printing support code should we wish to split that of as part of a separate gEDA -> Postscript printing tool which doesn't use cairo. gEDA-user: UTF-8 printing in gschem
Hello, all. I'm a Debian user and a long time I was using outdated gEDA/gaf versions and even in 2008 was fighting against vector fonts. When I realized that there already are postscript fonts, I started fighting against them :). An issue with them is that in postscript output some cyrillic and maybe others symbols are missing. I was hoping anyone would solve this problem. Then I was hoping anyone would write about its existence. I'm tired to hope. It seems to be changes in gEDA/gaf 1.8 for Unicode support. I don't know exactly. Intentions maybe. I don't know where to look at. Whose repository is better. How to figure it out. Main git repository has no changes for Unicode support. I haven't found anything. I wrote three patches. Probably they're provided too late. Indeed... They're pretty simple: sorting out and deleting of unnecessary lines. It solves my problems with printing today. Maybe it will be useful for someone... Launchpad bug #720218. Way, way too narrow. Refactoring can dramatically increase the power at the users' fingertips. Consider a favorite Brian Kernighan example. Take the Multics command: how_many_users In Unix, refactor it into: who | wc -l Now, you've given the user much more power with fewer commands. For example, ls | wc -l counts files, something I recall there was no command for in Multics. A couple things to consider... If you're using the stock 0603 footprint, just remove the ".fp" You can disable the M4 macro libraries and just use the file-based libraries (skip-m4 yes or --skip-m4) Try using PCB's File->Import instead of gsch2pcb, it handles footprint names differently. ___ geda-user mailing list geda-user@moria.seul.org http://www.seul.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/geda-user
