But SVG is a shape outline format and RS-274X is centerline and width format.

A round ended pad in RS-274X is a pair of points to define a line and a number
to define a width.

The same thing in SVG or postscript is a path around the rounded ends and along
the edges of the pad.

It's easy to translate from RS-274X to SVG, but not the other way.

A more comprehensive list is at

Please drop me a note, if find missing keys.

My thoughts on this were to have an intermediary format meant to be open. I
thought basing it on svg with layers defined to be each layer in a layout.

This way the svg footprint has some major benefits. Mostly a pre defined
standard.
Svg with some attributes added.
Viewable directly in modern web browsers.
Raw svg editors exist. Such as inkscape.
More folks would be willing to contribute to an open non tool centric footprint.
Converters can be made to and from other formats for exchange,

Wow! That will be really fine Bert. Watch out for the corporate lawyers

A footprint calculator that uses IPC guidelines plus an editor
as a standalone would be great!

If you buy a ramp and soak thermocouple controller off ebay, and
graft the two together, it will work as well as the
"IR Reflow Station" box from China. The toaster oven ideally should
be a wall of even red heat, rather than a central blob or strip.

Levente did some with this, I think. I remember soemone saying they
got results putting the thermocouple in contact with a separate
piece of copper laminate the same type as they were heating to reflow.

Re: gEDA-user: PCB Shortcut Keys

2011-03-04 Thread Felix Ruoff
If you compile pcb by yourself, you will find a file 'refcard.pdf' in
/share/doc/pcb. This file gives most of the
   default-accelerators/shortcuts.
If you are using pcb from a repository of your distro, this file will
   be at /usr/share/doc/pcb/refcard.dvi.gz.
There are a very few mistakes in it as you can see in Bug LP:699506
(perhaps someone can push the given patch there???).
   Kind regards,
