gEDA-user: Un-translate a symbol?
Is it possible to un-translate a symbol in gEDA? I have a 5 pin symbol that I want to copy and make an 8 pin symbol. I'd like to undo the translate so that I can back out just a little. How can I do this? Suggestions? Or, since only the big pad that lays across the pads for each pin turns orange, should I just ignore this? Hi, I'll have a similar problem as I'll be trying to do a TO263S for a LM2575 Switcher from National. I thought of the problem before and I think that giving the same pin number to all the instances of the pad (each dent above) will highlight correctly. But I haven't tried it yet... will do it later tonight... if time is available. You will probably have to edit the .fp file in a editor as _I think_ that PCB footprint editor does not allow it... I am following the tutorial at http://geda.seul.org/wiki/geda:tragesym_tutorial;, using the OpenOffice template. Thanks, Dan. Hm -- have not used tragesym for more than a year. Tragesym is fine, but I do not like the documentation. Please note, input to tragesym is plain text. I really wonder why they advertise use of spreadsheet, I have always used a plain text editor. (OK, spreadsheet may be fine if you try to copy from pdf datasheet...) Do not call tragesym input .sch, that is for schematics. I used .txt extension, it is plain text. The version should be not current date, if I remember correctly, but something related with gschem version. I think that version is copied to symbols, if it is to high, gschem may refuse loading the symbol. My final guess: There may be something wrong with your input file for tragesym, maybe in front of version line. Watch in a plain text editor. You may find working tragesym input files for testing at www.gedasymbols.org. Or fill in tragesym's template.txt with a text editor, leaving version line unchanged. Of course, some people prefer djboxsym, available at www.gedasymbols.org. Yes, this is the way it is supposed to work. Note, there is no law that forces you to translate the symbol to 0. Symbols work just fine when they are off from zero by a couple of units. It may get a little awkward, if the symbol is sitting in the middle of the canvas, though. ---)kaimartin(--- -- Kai-Martin Knaak Email: k...@familieknaak.de Öffentlicher PGP-Schlüssel: http://pool.sks-keyservers.net:11371/pks/lookup?search=0x6C0B9F53 ___ geda-user mailing list geda-user@moria.seul.org http://www.seul.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/geda-user
