Yes. Select the resistors (even with the nets around) and call the add 
attribute dialog.
Enter the footprint and set the options in the dialog:
  (*) components only
  (*) replace existing attributes

 (As the resistors are already connected, I would prefer not to delete
 all my current resistors and copy paste a new resistor with the
 correct footprint attribute already inside)

 name similar to the way it is done in PCB using a POSIX wildcard?

Use the utility program gattrib for stuff like this.

1.  Save your design and close gschem
2.  Run gattrib on your design.  Edit your attributes using a spreadsheet.
then save and close.
3.  Re-open your design in gschem and continue working.
