Re: gEDA-user: Installation problem wxGtk]
My system as a root password set (it's simple stefano :-) ). I'm sure I type it correctly when the installer asks me and I've tried executing that from user stefano. Strange is that I have Gd lybraries required from installer in my system. I'm sure about it because of the result of rpm -qa | grep gd that is: gdbm-devel-1.8.3-241 libgdiplus-1.1.13.5-7 gdm-2.8.0.7-57.11 klogd-1.4.1-557 gd-2.0.32-23 gdk-pixbuf-0.22.0-93 libgda-1.3.91-32 gdbm-1.8.3-241 gdb-6.4-19 libgda-devel-1.3.91-32 ifplugd-0.28-17 Stefano > Ok, the problem is that the root login session is apparently logged in > before the system would normally ask for a password. Re: gEDA-user: Installation problem wxGtk]
Ok, the problem is that the root login session is apparently logged in before the system would normally ask for a password. Then, my installer times out waiting for the password prompt. Therefore, my next question: Does your system have a root password? Or do you just hit return as the root password? The installer need to see a request for the root password before proceeding to install the system dependencies. I can think of two ways it wouldn't get it: 1. You are already logged in as root. 2. Your system has no root password. If your system has no root password, please configure it to have one. Re: gEDA-user: Installation problem wxGtk]
Stefano, It looks to me like you are running as "root" when you start the installer. Please don't do this, the installer doesn't expect that you are root, and will get confused. Please log in as a normal user and then try the installer again. Please let me know if this solves your problem. Cheers, Stuart On Thu, 3 Aug 2006, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Thanks a lot for support! Stuart is the best person to help you. (He's the one who created the .iso), but, in the mean time, I can tell you what I found... I found that the installer looks for wx-config (or something like that) and that wx-config is not installed as part of any of the RPM's available for FC5. I too tried installing wxGTK from RPM and found that I still couldn't install. So I uninstalled the RPM and just let the installer install it's own version of wxGTK, and that worked. --wpd ___ geda-user mailing list geda-user@moria.seul.org http://www.seul.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/geda-user
