The website is based on confluence and [1] was the download page on

is already synced and as you mentioned it seems all good now...

Thanks again.

There are some problems with the download page:

 - the download links for the zip/tar.gz files point to the main
web-site. They should point to the mirror system (the MD5 and ASC
 links are OK).

[See http://cassandra.apache.org/download/ for one way of linking to mirrors.]

 - there's no link to the KEYS file which is needed for checking sigs.
It would also be helpful to include (or link to) instructions on
checking downloads using the sigs and/or hashes (e.g.
 http://www.apache.org/info/verification.html)

Thanks for the feedback, all items have been addressed (see [1]) and
should be live in couple hours.

[ANNOUNCE] Apache PhotArk M2-incubating released

2010-05-24 Thread Luciano Resende
The Apache PhotArk team is pleased to announce the release of Apache
PhotArk M2-incubating.

Apache PhotArk will be a complete open source photo gallery
application including a content repository for the images, a display
piece, an access control layer, and upload capabilities. The idea is
to have a rigid design for the content repository with a very flexible
display piece. The images in the content repository will be protected
with granular access control.

PhotArk gallery currently allows you define and manage a set of albums
hosted local into the content repository and provides a default web UI
for album navigation. PhotArk also supports creating and deploying
your own photo gallery into Google AppEngine cloud infrastructure.

For full details about the release and to download the distributions
please go to:

http://incubator.apache.org/photark/photark-downloads.html

Apache PhotArk welcomes your help. Any contribution, including code,
testing, contributions to the documentation, or bug reporting is
always appreciated. For more information on how to get involved in
Apache PhotArk visit the website at:

http://incubator.apache.org/photark/

Thank you for your interest in Apache PhotArk!

The Apache PhotArk Team.

Re: Incubator podling website problems

2010-05-24 Thread Stuart Monteith

Hello,
After a brief panic that I might have done something wrong I
remembered that I made the Apache Kato website

conform to the guidelines in the following webpage:

http://incubator.apache.org/guides/branding.html

This requires podlings to include a disclaimer in their documentation
(your last point).
As for the feather, podling websites SHOULD include the incubator
project logo.

Do the existing guidelines in the webpage I cited seem sufficient for
everyone? Perhaps just a reminder is needed then.

Regards,
Stuart

I think that it would be good to state what the problem is that we're trying to
solve and how the currently published incubator web site rules do not
adequately address that problem. Once we have a set of rules that have been
voted in, then we can contact the individual PPMCs to inform them of the
changes.

I think that people need to be clearly informed that the podling and its
products are not official artifacts of the Apache Software Foundation. I think
it would be good to have some consistency in the appearance, content, and
placement of incubation disclaimers. I think that we can do this on web sites
and artifacts.

I like some of the points you make. I think we should have a standard incubation
disclaimer in the home page of all podling web sites. Having it on the
download page would be a good idea too.

no room for interpretation that we're an Apache project. We have
links back to Apache on our main nav bar. We use the words Apache

No quarrel with that.

We reference the Incubator and that we're

in the most obvious pages (download, etc).

But not on the home page, and the mention on the download page is
extremely brief.

I could not find a link back to the Incubator site.

Also, I certainly don't feel it should ever be an actual requirement
to include the feather in a logo - communities should be free to
choose whatever they like. Attribution to Apache and the Incubator
should be more than enough.

I did not intend to suggest that all logos should contain the feather,
but that the ASF feather logo and/or the Incubator logo should appear
on the main pages at least.

I can step up if necessary but would appreciate if that is not
